If black holes suck everything into them, I'm guessing white holes must expel everything that's in them. The background is an iPhone shot if an IKEA cloud lamp, the man is a shot of someone jumping on a trampoline. Processed in Alien Sky, Lightroom, PS, Nik, and every other filter, plug-in and texture I could get my hands on.

As the sun goes down in Maui...mother nature gives us yet another show.
What moves me about...what's called technique...is that it comes from some mysterious deep place. I mean it can have something to do with the paper and the developer and all that stuff, but it comes mostly from some very deep choices somebody has made that take a long time and keep haunting them.

Is Famine A Crime Against Humanity?
by UN Dispatch on Tumblr
So can a deliberate famine be a crime against humanity? Yes, and it won’t be the first time. In the early 1900s, the Herero people living in the German colony of Southwest Africa rebelled. In response, the Kaiser ordered General Lother von Trotha to destroy the tribe. To accomplish this, the General employed a simple but brutal strategy: he created an artificial famine. Outmaneuvering the Herero people, he encircled them except for a gap in the direction of the Omaheke desert. Left no where else to go, Herero men, women, and children fled into the desert. Then von Trotha’s men sealed all waterholes around the desert and blocked any escape with 250km of fences, guard posts, and patrols. The Herero tribe was trapped in the desert with no means of acquiring food or water. The general effectively created an artificial famine to do the killing for him. The strategy was a powerful method of killing, before the 1904 rebellion Hereros numbered 80,000 in South West Africa. In 1911, that number was 15,000. In 1985, the United Nations’ Whitaker Report called the German strategy one of the earliest genocides of the 20th century. In 2004, Germany officially apologized.

The sun burns open a hole through the dark clouds that hang over the Fraser River at Garry Point Park.

Weather/light changes the impact of the subject drastically. Great light can transform a good image into a phenomenal one.
North Conway, New Hampshire.
Panorama view of some crepuscular rays breaking through the cloudy sky in North Conway today.
Took this shot during hike through Estes Park in Colorado, sunset rays were coming through forest and fell upon this tree in unique way and took the shot.
“There are millions of children suffering from malnutrition today–out of view from journalists and TV cameras. Why should they have to wait to be caught up in the middle of a war or a food crisis in order to receive the kinds of high-value foods that will help them grow healthy and strong and reach their potential?”

one of those fleeting moments as the sun breaks through the fog. I couldn't decide between the colour or mono images...
Where's Waldo? Look closely and you will see a person's face somewhere in this image. I took this image above Seven Falls just outside Colorado Springs Colorado.
As the winter photo season approaches this year and as I start feeling better from post back surgery, I've been really wanting to get out and explore some of the the Bay Area and Northern California coastline I haven't seen in the past. Pacifica Pier was one of those places, that has been on my radar for a while, but yet to visit.
Location wise there are some really nice long sand beaches, and just to the edge of the pier is what I have decided to affectionately call the "triplets." A group of three rocks slightly buried in the sand, that create some great water lines as the tide pulls back.
Wow, talk about Rays of light shining through the clouds! What a show the other evening over Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii. Coconut / Gilligan's Island is in the center - named for the Tv Show Gilligan's Island where the opening scene ( boat landing/cove) in the song was filmed.
Caught a few light rays coming down on the France Pavilion. The rays quickly disappeared after a few minutes and turned into an ordinary cloudy sky.

My technique is alway the same:
Three exposures -2EV, 0, +2EV and then temperature adjustement using Lightroom and layering with luminosity mask using photoshop. Removal of distracting stuff with the stamp tool or patch tool. High pass filter to enhance details. Then saturation, contrast selectively control, dodge and burn where need...
DRI stand for Dynamic Range Increase. Three RAW files are used to achieve this. Rather than using a software like Photomatix for instance, I simply use mask to blend, my own way, the light, dark and normal shot with Photoshop and Lightroom.. To me, It looks more natural than the usual HDR treatment that I would normally applied.

Dodge and burn là où requis...
