I went camping in Dorset over the Jubilee weekend. It was a truly English bank-holiday: 50mph winds, lashing rain and the occasional moment when the world opened up and was spectacularly beautiful.
Tech - D800 with a long-ish zoom. Auto WB - it accurately reflects the extraordinary colour in the sky. Very little post, other than ensure good web colour. Hi-res uploaded for those interested in very very big pictures!
one of those fleeting moments as the sun breaks through the fog. I couldn't decide between the colour or mono images...
One from a local wood near me after the school run last week.
This little area is actually managed by a small eco community who live and work on the 40 acre site. 2/3 of it is woodland and rest is orchards and veggie plots. It's a thriving low impact community who build their simple homes from the natural materials in the woodland. Surrounded by large affluent traditional ham stone homes, this little place is an oasis of alternative ideas - I must admit to being a little bit jealous of their simple inspiring lifestyle.
And...they get some great light rays on the eastern fringes of the wood - What's not to love? :)
Finally some Lightrays again :) Sharpness isn´t that great, but i was in a hurry....we only had sun for at least 1 or 2 Minutes! So sorry for that ;)
As the winter photo season approaches this year and as I start feeling better from post back surgery, I've been really wanting to get out and explore some of the the Bay Area and Northern California coastline I haven't seen in the past. Pacifica Pier was one of those places, that has been on my radar for a while, but yet to visit.
Location wise there are some really nice long sand beaches, and just to the edge of the pier is what I have decided to affectionately call the "triplets." A group of three rocks slightly buried in the sand, that create some great water lines as the tide pulls back.
Wow, talk about Rays of light shining through the clouds! What a show the other evening over Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii. Coconut / Gilligan's Island is in the center - named for the Tv Show Gilligan's Island where the opening scene ( boat landing/cove) in the song was filmed.
Caught a few light rays coming down on the France Pavilion. The rays quickly disappeared after a few minutes and turned into an ordinary cloudy sky.

This was scene I came across when I got back from work one day. Luckily the cloud wasn't moving very fast at all, so I managed to use HDR to capture the light beams better.

I took a number of shots of this natural light event, there were three main shots out of those that i felt best captured the brief moments these awesome rays of light were shining down through the clouds.
These shots (series of 3) were taken in Central Queensland Australia.
Before you shoot an irresistible subject, mute all your senses except sight to find out how much is left for the camera to record.
