As many of you know, I really enjoy Point Pelee National Park. Whenever I get a chance to visit this treasure in southwestern Ontario, the marsh boardwalk is always one of my favourite destinations. The boardwalk is only a one kilometre loop, but has so much to enjoy as you make your way around it.

It's better than nothing
Water levels on the waterways around Essex County are at record highs. Sturgeon Creek in Leamington, Ontario is no exception, where these docks were far to precarious to venture out on. Keep off signs posted definitely kept me off, as I explored on this early morning.
Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus). This wood pigeon was trying to keep cool by oscillating his throat. However, he just looked a bit deranged to me!

Taken from the same hill as The Middle Earth. The sky that day was a wee bit too overcast, and it was really foggy. This is the only decent shot I got from this hike.

Momma bear catches a whiff of something while her two cubs continue feasting on the berries.
While on the full-day bus excursion into Denali National Park, we happened upon this grizzly sow and her two cubs bulking up on berries. Amazingly, we were also able to see a lynx observing them, not 50' from where these three were feeding. After watching for a few minutes, the sow lifted her head, probably having caught scent of the lynx and eventually rushed to where the cat was located to investigate. When the cubs followed suit, the lynx reappeared about 15' from this point.
The wildlife in Denali seem oblivious to the buses. Very little private vehicular traffic is allowed into the park beyond the 15-mile mark on the 92 mile Park Road to Kantishna (the only road in this massive six million acre National Park).
Although the weather was overcast in the morning, followed by heavy rains in the afternoon and evening, we were able to see quite a bit of wildlife in the park. Unfortunately, we were unable to see the entirety of Denali Mountain.

Australian Magpies are very vigilant birds, the see everything and miss very little. They keep watch on behalf of all the birds who visit my yard, They raise the alarm if there is danger, and sound the all clear when the danger is past. They have calls for strangers, cats and raptors; Magpies are the unsung local heroes, and truly beautiful birds. This Common Merganser (f) didn't seem to mind the canoe floating by her, on the way to look for the bald eagle nest this summer.
Exposure, is there a right one? I often utilize my histograms and the theory of ETTR. (Expose To The Right) However, that does not always render the most ideal image, even when manipulated in post. This shot was slightly underexposed and shot in RAW. The result better reveals the suns rays than the one with the right histogram. Perhaps it is best to keep on learning,
