THE LION OF MUGELLO
Gastone Nencini (1930 -1980) was an Italian cyclist with a professional career from 1953 to 1965.
Nencini won the final victory in both the Tour de France 1960 and the Giro d'Italia 1957. As a very good climber and descender, he also won the mountain classification in both cycling races. In the Tour of Italy he won a total of seven stage victories and in the Tour de France he was successful in a stage four times.
He was nicknamed "The Lion of Mugello", after his birthplace. Nencini, who was a chain smoker, was also an amateur painter.

SLEEPING WITH THE PAST

Sacrifice
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Bernie Taupin 1989
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a human sign
When things go wrong
When the scent of her lingers
And temptation's strong
Into the boundary
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes calling
And negativity lands
Cold cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passing through
And it's no sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's two hearts living
In two separate worlds
But it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
It's no sacrifice at all
Mutual misunderstanding
After the fact
Sensitivity builds a prison
In the final act
We lose direction
No stone unturned
No tears to damn you
When jealousy burns

I forgot my stool so I used a log and sat in the road. Luckily, the cars drove around me.

VICTIM OF LOVE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Johnny B Goode
Music & lyrics by Chuck Berry
Disco cover by Elton John 1979
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
There stood an log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode
Who never learned to read or write so well
But he could play a guitar just like ringing a bell
Go go
Go Johnny go go go
Go Johnny go go go
Go Johnny go go go
Go Johnny go go go
Go go Johnny B. Goode
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Sat beneath the tree by the railroad track
An engineer could see him sitting in the shade
Strumming with the rhythm that the drivers made
The People passing by, they would stop and say
Oh my, how that little country boy could play
His mother told him, someday you will be a man
You will be the leader of a big old band
Many people coming from miles around
To hear you play your music when the sun goes down
And maybe someday your name will be in lights
Saying Johnny B. Goode tonight

Inspiration: Staring down a cold that is trying to get a hold of me...bit of a wheeze in my chest.. So...I got to thinking what that could look like

Pen drawing of a fantasy figure that seems to repeat itself in my work Just like our lives sometimes we feel like a catepillar and sometimes we emerge into a butterfly. It all begins with our thoughts about ourselves and who we are and the deeds we do to help humanity.

"You're a cool little one
My dark southern breeze
Sweeps through my fingers
And it amazes me
Dixie shadowland
Your envy shelters me
Lay down your burden
Mystery of ebony
And it amazes me
Oh it amazes me
Maybe the heat babe could be this tune
It amazes me
It amazes me
What drives me crazy is that big fat yellow moon
Look up that pale light
Well she's waking the trees
I'm drifting in your hoodoo
And it amazes me
That magnolia state
Got a hold on me
I got no blues to preach
Just Mississippi company
Ain't no magic potion
No gri-gri on her side
She's bound to my salvation
Sweet little mama
Take me down by the river tonight
And it amazes me..."

I drew this indoors as it was raining, resting my sketch book on the emergency exit door bar. Security politely asked me to move away.

Note: The temperature has done a real turn around from Monday, so off goes the A/C and on goes the furnace. Frost tonight. Just brrr. So it’s perfect timing to be inspired by this Harajuku regular, Chipa & her wonderful blue/green hair. Blue cat’s are on my brain this week :3
...also, I wanted to work on creating depth with the scarf/hair. ;)

As an exercise in discipline and productivity, I began doing little sketches in a Strathmore pocket sketchpad. This one is another of my favorite objects to sketch: the old fashioned Coca Cola bottle. Such a classic shape and even better Warhol made it more famous. Not to mention my feelings of obligation to draw something from the same state as me.

"And she's a habit I can't handle
For a reason I can't say
I'm in love with a wild white lady
She's as sweet as the stories say
White powder white lady
You're one and the same
Come on down to my house won't you
And hit this boy again!"

Dublin will be just a 36 hour pub crawl..I mean layover, sandwiched between Spain & Scotland. The latter I've been wanting to explore more of ( Islay) and Barcelona is on my bucket list. Good times are on the to do list :D
