Took this shot from Penang bridge while driving through Penang Bridge. It was pretty beautiful with some clouds. Winded the window down and took 1 shot of RAW.
1 exposure HDR tonemapped in photomatix. Removed noise and then apply Topaz Adjust plugin.
All comments and critiques are welcome. Thank you.

Thank you for all the visits, faves, and invites! I will catch up soon. I am doing the finishing work on getting a field trip to Chicago Wednesday, plus lots of other things. It's been so crazy, my flickr anniversary whizzed right by Saturday. It's been a heck of a year. I've learned a lot and I've made some great friends...all in all, a very positive experience.
Handheld, 1600 ISO, 1/10th of a second and a lot of luck.

Digger and myself went out to take photos tonight and we were feeling a little on edge so we ventured out to the 101 and Pima area to see how the crops are looking this time of year. Well, the corn is over 8 feet tall so we found our location for the night. I ended up taking more of the light painting shots and Digger had some other things on his camera.
This shot was similar to the other one but I wanted to throw in a little "Matt G. Harris" style too it and did a little more light painting. This was the last attempt at this shot because Digger was having trouble with my remote (he is a Canon guy so we blamed it on Nikon being foreign haha). I first ran down and did the orb and ran back. Once I got back, Digger walked along the sides with the green cathod from Matt and walked back. Once he returned, I used my red EL wire and waved it all over the center dirt path all the way back to the orb. I really like this shot a lot too!
I did some post editing in Lightroom and I tried to bring out more red from the EL wire but it didn't work too well for some reason.
high raise
High Raise is known as the summit at the exact centre of the Lake District, this distinction gives it a fine viewpoint of all the surrounding mountains and beyond.
That's on a clear day...
Sunday was a mixed weather day, great for walking, not so great for photography...
So here is the Haise Raise trig, behind me you can see the Scafell summit group and cloud boiling aound the summit of Great Gable
We're still in Percy's Reserve at the entrance to the heavily populated Hutt Valley just north of Wellington New Zealand...
The Track to the foot of Percy's Waterfall is well maintained and meanders up the side of a small stream through thick native forest (or "Bush" as its called in New Zealand!).
Percy's Waterfall is certainly no Niagara Falls, but they are still worth a visit. The volume of water flowing down these Falls may not be great, but it is never-the-less the highest waterfall in the Wellington region!
However, it's not the Falls themselves that make this Site so attractive to visit but rather the thick Bush that the Visitor has to walk through to get to them...
And I should add that this is only the top half of the Falls...!

Balair
Over Bernese Alps, Switzerland
07 November 1981
Before being sold to Canada, Balair arranged for a splendid farewell flight for their DC-6 HB-IBS, a 60 minute ride from Basel around the the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau massif in the Bernese Alps.
Departure at Basel was on then runway 34, and soon after the aircraft was heading to the Bernese Oberland. Seat 3A guaranteed a fine view of the scenery via the large square windows - and the full sounds of the port side Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasps, delivering a whopping 2,400 hp each. Subsequently the camera ran almost hot on taking all the breathtaking scenery.
This picture shows the DC-6 passing along the North side of the Eiger/Mönch/Jungfrau massif, with the Mönch (Monk) mountain at the left, and the Jungfrau (Virgin) at the right. They are 4,110 m/13,480 ft and 4,158 m/13,641 ft high, respectively, while the cruising altitude was an estimated 3,000 m/10,000 ft. In the saddle between the two mountains, the Jungfraujoch restaurant and observatory can be made out, the famous tourist destination at 3,463 m/11,362 ft, reachable by train from Interlaken and Kleine Scheidegg. The train runs through Eiger and Mönch mountains, and ends in Europe's highest train station at the Jungfraujoch. A splendid, but meanwhile very expensive experience!
All too soon the pleasure ride came to an end, and the DC-6 headed back to Basel, for an unspectacular runway 34 landing, exactly one hour and one minute after lift-off. What a pity that this fine aircraft was retired after this flight.

The short and sweet spring seems to be ending here in Texas. Constant day temperatures in the 90's and a heat that breaks you into sweat as soon as you step outside. However the evenings can still be quite nice so we have to enjoy them while they still last. We spent last Saturday night doing just that. What a place to spend an evening. I hung out with the family sitting around chatting and enjoying the nice evening. We lit a fire as the sun was setting and I decided to set the camera up to make a photo. To capture this scene the way I saw it I had to use an HDR technique and combine the three image HDR with the best photo of the fire and digitally blended this image with the tonemapped HDR.

German second?
We built a great german wall.
Just built it!
And we made the russians pay for it
So great! I totally love it.
And by the way, when you push the red botton to destroy Germany with nuclear weapons, this is how Germany looks like on map.

Back from a self-imposed Artistic snooze
I decided to have a break for two reasons. One, my trip to Iceland spoilt me with the incredible scenery and the weather was so dramatic and extreme that it left me wanting more, and the Summer weather seemed too flat by comparison. Two, the gap between my processing and what I visioned in my head was getting wider, so I decided to close Photoshop and have a rethink. Not that I could stop shooting :)
Back a great trip to Scotland and Isle of Skye, this is the first from that outing.
Looking forward to the Autumn and some experimentation.

The Latin name for the common reed, nal, or Danube grass, is Phragmites australis.
The ridgeline starting from image left and heading off into the sunset is Forney Ridge. The closest bump on that ridge, which is partially hidden by fir trees, is Andrews Bald. It is the highest bald in GSMNP and known for spectacular displays of flame azalea and rhododendron blooms during the late spring and early summer. The right side of Forney Ridge drains into Forney Creek which meanders about 10 miles southwest into Fontana Lake, a TVA impoundment that forms a portion of the southwestern border of the park. Barely visible above the ridgeline are portions of the Tuskegee River, which also feeds Fontana Lake.

Snow and ice-covered Mount Baker, located in northern Washington, is the highest peak in the North Cascades (3,286 m or 10,781 ft) and the northernmost volcano in the conterminous United States. It is the only U.S. volcano in the Cascade Range that has been affected by both alpine and continental glaciation. The stratovolcano is composed mainly of andesite lava flows and breccias and was largely formed prior to the most recent major glaciation (Fraser Glaciation), which occurred between about 25,000 and 10,000 years ago.
The most recent major eruption at Mount Baker, about 6,700 years ago, was accompanied by a major flank-collapse event that caused lahars to rush down the Nooksack River and then eastward into Baker Lake. In 1975-76, Sherman Crater, immediately south of the summit, exhibited signs of renewed volcanic activity as a result of magma intruding into the volcano but not erupting. This activity resulted in monitoring that was more intense than previously applied at any other Cascade Range volcano and produced important baseline data against which recent research has been compared. Sherman Crater has been the site of increased steam emission since 1975.
Although monitoring was increased as a result to the 1975-76 activity, much of it has been dismantled and monitoring at Mount Baker is now insufficient due to the threat that renewed activity would pose to nearby communities and regional infrastructure. Mount Baker is one of several Cascade volcanoes that are high priority to have their monitoring systems enhanced in the coming years.
