“The Marble Temple” as known to foreigners is most satisfactory architecturally with its symmetry and lovely proportions. The Hall was constructed from Carrara marble from Italy and showing distinct European neo-classical influence. It has been reckoned for its architectural and decorative arts of finest Thai craftsmanship, say, second to none in the world. It attracts the interest of tourists throughout the world to come to visit with a large number each year.

The short and sweet spring seems to be ending here in Texas. Constant day temperatures in the 90's and a heat that breaks you into sweat as soon as you step outside. However the evenings can still be quite nice so we have to enjoy them while they still last. We spent last Saturday night doing just that. What a place to spend an evening. I hung out with the family sitting around chatting and enjoying the nice evening. We lit a fire as the sun was setting and I decided to set the camera up to make a photo. To capture this scene the way I saw it I had to use an HDR technique and combine the three image HDR with the best photo of the fire and digitally blended this image with the tonemapped HDR.

Jvari is a Georgian Orthodox monastery of the 6th century The name is translated as the Monastery of the Cross.

According to traditional accounts, it was here in the early 4th century that Saint Nino, a female evangelist credited with converting the country to Christianity, stayed here to pray and erected a cross on Mtskheta’s highest hill. The Church is still used for major celebrations, and part of St. Nino’s cross remains visible to this day.

Back from a self-imposed Artistic snooze

I decided to have a break for two reasons. One, my trip to Iceland spoilt me with the incredible scenery and the weather was so dramatic and extreme that it left me wanting more, and the Summer weather seemed too flat by comparison. Two, the gap between my processing and what I visioned in my head was getting wider, so I decided to close Photoshop and have a rethink. Not that I could stop shooting :)

Back a great trip to Scotland and Isle of Skye, this is the first from that outing.

Looking forward to the Autumn and some experimentation.

Whiteface Mountain, the fifth highest mountain in New York State, is the first place I think of for a special day with every generation of my family. It is a place where the lovers of history, the lovers of nature, the lovers of modern ingenuity and design and the lovers of fresh air and scenic vistas can visit together and appreciate in its entirety. The road to the summit was dedicated in 1929 by then-New York State Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt. Though there is no doubt the four year project made a significant impact on the engineers, construction workers and stone masons of the region in the face of the Great Depression, contrary to popular belief both at the time and today, neither Whiteface Castle (now Castle Café) nor the Whiteface Mountain Veterans' Memorial Highway were New Deal labor projects; instead, the entire $1.2 million project (approximately $21 million by today's standards) was paid for by the State of New York. In 1935, six years after its dedication, Franklin D. Roosevelt returned to cut the ribbon on the highway and dedicate it to our nation's veterans of the Great War, this time as President of the United States. It would later be rededicated to all American veterans

The ridgeline starting from image left and heading off into the sunset is Forney Ridge. The closest bump on that ridge, which is partially hidden by fir trees, is Andrews Bald. It is the highest bald in GSMNP and known for spectacular displays of flame azalea and rhododendron blooms during the late spring and early summer. The right side of Forney Ridge drains into Forney Creek which meanders about 10 miles southwest into Fontana Lake, a TVA impoundment that forms a portion of the southwestern border of the park. Barely visible above the ridgeline are portions of the Tuskegee River, which also feeds Fontana Lake.

Waiting on an angel.

One to carry me home.

Hope you come to see me soon, cause I don't want to go alone,

I don't want to go alone.

Now angel won't you come by me.

Angel hear my plea.

Take my hand, lift me up so that I can fly with thee,

so that I can fly with thee.

And I'm waiting on an angel.

And I know it won't be long to find myself a resting place in my angel's arms,

in my angel's arms.

So speak kind to a stranger, cause you'll never know, it just might be an angel come,

Oh- knockin' at your door, Oh- knockin' at your door.

And I'm waiting on an angel.

And I know it won't be long to find myself a resting place in my angel's arms,

Oh- in my angel's arms.

Waiting on an angel.

One to carry me home.

Hope you come to see me soon, cause I don't want to go alone,

I don't want to go alone,

don't want to go,

I don't want to go alone.

Debs had the biggest tent EVER!

It was well received by all the tired, soggy slightly tipsy members of the camping contingent at the extended weekend Flickr Meet.

Since there was a full moon (and loads of rain..) I thought trails would be out of the question but thanks to a handy Eclipse (shut it Itsy...), the stars came out to play for a bit and I couldn't resist standing in the cold muddy field for a bit..

Whernside in the Yorkshire Dales is one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, the other two being Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. At 2,415 feet above sea level it is the highest point in North Yorkshire with the summit lying on the county border with Cumbria. Whernside forms a long ridge, running roughly NNE to SSW.

On a clear day the views from the summit to the west can be spectacular, with views of the Lake District and Morecambe Bay, including Blackpool Tower, some 40 miles away.

Whernside lies about two miles northwest of Ribblehead Viaduct on the Settle–Carlisle Railway. It is sometimes confused with the lower peak of Great Whernside 17 miles away to the east of Whernside. The word "Whern" is believed to refer to querns (millstones) whilst "side" is derived from the Norse "sættr", meaning an area of summer pasture.

Such interesting clouds in the sky over Lake Erie last night. I usually don't go this wide angle when the sun is setting on the Lake Erie horizon, but I wanted to place more of the emphasis on the cloud formations in the sky. Heck, I was even able to get a seagull in the shot too...lol. Photo taken in Lakewood, Ohio.

Ausangate (Vilcanota mountain range) 20221125

Ausangate is the 24th highest mountain in the Andes Range ( Cordillera de Vilcanota), in Peru.

With its 6384 meters above sea level, Ausangate is the fifth highest mountain in Peru and is considered the most representative of the region. Its size is such that it can be seen even from the Sacsayhuamán Fortress, very close to the center of the Cusco capital.

Ausangate is surrounded by turquoise lakes like the Sibinacocha, as well as stone forests, glaciers and vast plains that impress with their magical landscape. Reaching the top of Ausangate involves a journey of 5 days and 4 nights along 70 km, which is why it is considered one of the most challenging trekking routes in the Peruvian Andes. However, during the hike, the traveler witnesses incredible postcards: multi-colored mountains, cliffs and alpacas that create an incredible experience.

Since the first expedition in 1950, under the command of the Italian Piero Ghiglione, many explorers and hikers have tried to conquer the top of Ausangate. It was not until three years later that a German expedition achieved the desired goal of scaling the mountain by its southern slope. Later, new routes were opened to make the ascent more accessible and less difficult.

Looking down the spiral staircase from the dizzying heights of Llubljana Castle's main tower, Llubljana, Slovenia, central Europe.

Taken on December 16, 2007.

This is the first of many photos that I captured while visiting Mount Rainier National Park in Washington in May 2017. This was captured at the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise. I have never seen so much snow or been as high in elevation (other than flying). This is the highest we could go up the mountain since the roads past this elevation were still covered with an unimaginable amount of snow.
