This corner of the city centre where Sauchiehall street meets Renfield street was used in a few scenes from the film. Most notably as the start point of the green light run.
The green light chase is one of the most famous scenes from the film where Vic, played by Tom Conti tries to prove to Helen Mirren's character (Ruth Chancellor) that he is capable of performing miracles. To do this he pushes down the accelerator pedal of her car and one by one the traffic lights turn green at each junction as they get to them.
They travel down Renfield street and cross each junction until they reach the junction of Gordon street.
The title scene and the first location took a bit of finding.
The premise of the scene is the priest visiting the Vatican in Rome but in reality this is a branch of the Clydesdale bank on St Vincent place, Glasgow.

This picture was taken on one of the most memerable flights of my piloting career. We flew over the pole from JFK to HKG on a 15 hour flight. We had the opportunity to fly through the aurora twice. Once in Northern Canada, and a second time on the other side of the pole, just North of the Russian coast. We were flying at 34,000 ft. I have never felt this close to the Aurora as we passed underneath just prior to reaching landfall over Northern Russia. The colors and the movement of this aurora was one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed on our planet Earth! Sorry for the reflections from the overhead instrument panel, that was unavoidable.
One of the street scenes shows a newspaper seller on a street corner. I tracked this down to the corner of Victoria road and Alison street in Govanhill.

Heavenly received 12-20 inches of snow in the past 24 hours and it's been snowing off-and-on all day long; hard at times.
It was a foggy November morning here in Oregon City. I really had no preconceived ideas as to what I would photograph, I just knew it would involve fog. I kinda thought I might head up to the bluff above our home, that has an old pioneer cemetery at the very rear of a protected woodland, that can be kind of cool on a foggy morning. The easiest way to get up there on foot is to climb this old concrete staircase of over 150 steps.. A staircase I have on many occasions prior to this referred to as the "Stairway to Heaven", because of the beautiful Natural woodland it leads to above. This woodland is what I think Eden would look like. But, on this day, these Heavenly Steps would appear Heavenly because the Good-Lord wanted them too. Not because they lead to a beautiful slice of Heaven above, but because of the natural beauty that make up this beautiful set of stairs. Needless to say, I did not make it past the stairs. I clicked off several shots at the base. I clicked off a few more at mid span, and immediately went home to process...
