The rains kept coming late into the season this year so planting the garden was delayed by a month but I FINALLY got to pick some tomatoes yesterday..and they are delicious.
After seemingly endless rain storms we finally got some blue skies around here. The peak's much nicer with the afternoon sun hitting it.
FINALLY back in da world! Landed in Bangor, Maine, then on to ATL, then to KCI. Great job in making sure we all came back home TOGETHER, safe & sound! In ATL, what the hell was up w/that ridamndiculous $600 excess baggage charge?! WTF! OVER!

FINALLY my washing machine is fixed. I have never been so happy to be under mountains of washing, as it is no longer dirty but CLEAN. This is only temporary happiness, don't worry I'll be over it shortly. (It was, embarrassingly, one of my hair grips that had got lodged in the pump which caused the machine to keel over. £75 it cost me. No, I did not tell my husband it was one of my hair grips.....)
Now is this a closet or is this a closet? Always loved the big walk-in closets in the US. Finally got one myself. Plus, it is a good excuse to do some more shopping until it is full :P
I wanted to try for an outdoor scene and practice contrast with using soft diffused light from the sun. This of course only happens when the weather cooperates. I finally had a cloudy day so it helped bring out the soft lighting yet was bright enough outside to give it what I would call a little more glow.
I used a wide-angle lens so I could capture the entire bridge and try to form a scene. I am hand holding the camera as I was in the middle of the stream and didn't feel I could trust my tripod with the water moving. I took several photographs from various angles but this one I felt had the best contrast. I did use a preset in Lightroom to bring out the color of the red of the bridge and the orange of the gravel. It wasn't a drastic change from the original.
What I would change: I was really trying for a full reflection of the bridge but there wasn't enough water to get a "non-rippled" reflection. I tried several different angles. I think if I wasn't trying to focus on the water, I'd get down low to the ground and shoot upwards to get more of the trees. I also feel that I need to practice with depth of field to make sure everything is in focus. For the lighting, I want to come back on a foggy day to capture this scene. It would add more mood instead of just contrast. With that I would also try to find a spot that I could use my tripod and use a f 1.0 exposure so I could capture the water movement.
There used to be a straight path to the road here that everyone walked on. then one day there was a lot of snow and the first person to walk on it made this crazy rambling path and because the snow was so deep everyone else followed it. it became "the path". here finally someone chose to make their own direct path and not take the crazy jaunt off to one side
i finally got a whole day to myself! after everything that has happened i needed this 'me time"! i got to enjoy my gift and take pictures all afternoon! :) ( which will soon make there way onto flicker)
we almost wore IzzytheDog out...she stopped to rest long enough for me to get a half decent shot of her.

To the naked eye, the whole tree is lit with LEDs constantly on. In reality, there are multiple strings all flashing out of sync with each other. I had to shoot with a 1/40s shutter speed to get all the lights in the tree showing. I had been playing around with my new camera and had been shooting at 1/200s in order to eliminate all camera shake, as the lens has no VR and the pixels are absurdly small, so any camera shake will show up.
