I finally got a haircut once again, oh yea! Loving this hair + beard style. My head feels cold and lighter lol. Just wished she had trimmed the top a bit more, oh well. I got my haircut at Teresa's Salon which is located along Senter Rd in San Jose, CA. I had to solo this one since my cousin was not available at the time to bantay (accompany) me.

I got tired of messing around with this plant and put it outside to either bloom or die. It finally came through! YAY!! Sometimes you have to threaten your houseplants to get what you want. Forget just talking to them.
My second Elephant in Ahmedabad! This time on my bike, I was able to turn around and shoot this one!!! I also like the two businessmen framing the picture. Remarkably they are the only Indians I ever saw wearing ties, I just recognized...
The Savoy event was cancelled last night and after visiting several disappointing clubs that advertised as Jazz clubs in search - I finally just Googled Jazz Clubs in SL and found one that actually played Jazz (Foxxies). By then it was midnight though...
At my old house before I moved, I had a family of Nuttall's Woodpeckers that came to my feeders every year for three years that I lived there. They would bring food to the babies in the nest and finally, bring the babies to the suet. I loved watching them. When I moved out of that house, I cried...not because I would miss my childhood house, but because I would miss my Nuttall's. Silly, I know.
Since that time, I have never seen a Nuttall's anywhere near my yard. I saw a little Downy once..but never again. It had been a year and nine months, but today, I looked outside to see this gorgeous Nuttall's at my suet feeder I had just put out earlier this week. I am sooo happy. I hope he comes back.
Terrible photo shooting through the cheap glass and screen, but I am so happy to have seen him in hopes he will return. Oh happy day!!
Room With A View
this is the view from our condo, captured with my cellphone right after we arrived. that's Molakai in the distance.
We are finally starting to see some color in our area. Much like the spring, Northern Virginia is quite stunning in the fall.
These are my neighbors' trees. The one on the right is even more spectacular today.
i gave zoe an early birthday present today.... a fishing rod! her dad loves to fish, so naturally so does she. or at least she thinks she does! anyway, my husband tried and tried but couldn't catch one. then i took a few casts and finally caught this little guy, which we promptly threw back! zoe was so excited! looks like daddy's got a new fishing buddy.
I've been trying to catch some of these sitting still for several years now and haven't had a lot of luck unless it was too dark to get a decent macro. Now I know the secret, all you have to do is get a couple of them to like each other, a LOT. Once that happens it's so awkward for them to fly they just won't hardly move.

I finally picked the first Mexican Sour Gherkins (aka Cucamelon/Mouse Melon). The were not as sour as I expected them to be. Maybe I need to leave them to ripen more. I was expecting them to be more sour like overripe Lemon Cucumbers. I still like them and can't wait to get more. #mexicansourgherkin #cucamelon #mousemelon #melothriascabra #melothria August 10, 2020 at 06:38AM
