After a long, scathing drought in the Kruger National Park, it finally rained and rained for several days on end. When the sun broke through, the sight of the flowing river was heartwarming.
For years I have tried to get a really good photo of a Black-capped Chickadee. These little guys are so quick. I was fortunate to catch one in flight.

Blue Ringtail Damselfly (Austrolestes annulosus)
The first Blue I have captured this season. And again the shot was taken at 'arms length' above my head. It had paused very briefly a lot lower down but not long enough to get a shot.
I hope you have all had a wonderful and happy Christmas.
I will catch up with your images as time permits.

Yes, yes, yes.....
: ) snow, what a fun!
( Do you ever noticed that our kids are now so long in school that they haven't a chance to sledge? Bad times for a wonderful childhood.)
I've shot these turkey vultures soaring in the deep blue sky before, and somehow can't get sharp focus - may be limitations of the Nikon system. In any case, I finally got a decent focus! At Sitka Sedge at the Oregon coast.
I finally finished planting my tiny flower garden and I take great delight in just sitting and looking at it!! Makes me happy. I haven't done any shooting lately so it felt really good to get out my Helios!

Finally we have to much rain and grey days in Berlin -
so we can change our mood inside.

Schließlich haben wir viel Regen und graue Tage in Berlin,
so können wir die Stimmung ein wenig ändern.
This was my 3rd sunrise hike up this particular mountain, attempting to get some nice photos as the sun comes up. My first 2 attempts were so cloudy I never got to see the sun. Finally on my 3rd try, I got to witness a great sunrise.
Frozen in Ice
Preserves these Leaves
From Paradise
Until next Spring
The Leaves are frosted
Without their Chlorophyll
Being exhausted
Finally, when Spring is here
New fresh Green will appear
And the Ice can disappear ...

I was so thrilled to finally see a baby Great Crested Flycatcher peeking out of the birdhouse for a few minutes, in the backyard, before it disappeared back inside.
After several tries over the years I was finally able to score a South Shore freight going down 11th with a nice train in beautiful evening light. This was starting to become a nail biter as you can see from the shadows moving in after a blue sky day all day. Some clouds from the west would soon move in to prematurely sunset the scene, but the train ran west just in time to make good use of some of the last full sun. Michigan City, IN 9/14/19
Fall colors this year were beautiful where they hit, but unfortunately the drought across much of Minnesota hindered many places from turning at all. I found this beautiful patch of Maples along the Mississippi River in southern Minnesota. Thankfully even in harsh conditions beauty can still be found everywhere you look. This serves as a reminder that even in the midst of our chaotic world that God still made beauty and He has not forgotten His people. Praise be to God for the love and blessing He has shown us!
Best seen on black (by pressing L) to have a larger view!

The show was on and I'd finally made it to the ridge 2.5 miles up to see it. Over the next ten minutes the mountain disappeared and reappeared until it finally threw off the blanket and embraced the sun. I was truly giddy and awestruck at the sight and suddenly wasn't nearly as fatigued as I was five minutes prior as I 'raced' to find different vantages. (I abuse the word race here because I may have reached 2.5 miles per hour.....) :-)
“Ahhh, finally some sunshine,” said this retired Moose. "After a long and arduous journey, I have finally arrived at this beautiful place where I can spend the rest of my days, after working for Santa Claus for so many years. It was enjoyable and challenging work, but now, given my age, I want to relax and enjoy myself.
Wishing you all a peaceful Wednesday!' :-))
