Today the Daily Shoot assignment was "Make a photo of something you wear to keep yourself warm and/or dry: coat, gloves, scarf, hat, you name it!" dailyshoot.com/ #59
I had this picture in my head of throwing all of the different pieces of outerwear I put on again and again up in the air. It's harder than it looks even with the help of another person.
This is a collage I made of some of the failed attempts.
downtown crossing platform:
dude tried to take his bike through the iron turnstile to take the escalator instead of going up the stairwell (just out of frame on the left) like a normal human.
FAIL
I tried to debug, but it failed to find the debugger.
FYI, these screens are 8 3/8" x 6", if you ever want to, you know, pixelate them or something. (Leave a hole in the bottom right corner that is 1 1/4" x 1/2" so you can still access the off button.)
This is just really sad. A lady bug?? for Cochineal Scale insects??

Cygnus is a familiar summer constellation. Situated along the plane of our Milky Way galaxy, it is home to many emission nebula, dark nebula and supernova remnants. To the lower left are the North American and Pelican Nebulae. The lower right shows the supernova remnant known as the Veil Nebula. The bimodal nebula at the middle left is the Butterfly Nebula. Smaller nebulae such as the Crescent and Tulip Nebulae are also visible in this image.
Technical details:
Luminance-Inverted image of the cygnus wide field. Inversion was done in the LAB space, so the deep red colors have been retained.
Imaging scope: Nikon 55mm f/1.8 Lens set to f/4
Imaging Camera: ST8300M (capture with Equinox Image)
Filters: Baader filters in FW5-8300 filter wheel
Guide scope: Astro-Tech 106mm Triplet
Guide camera: Starfish Fishcamp (guided with PHD)
Mount: Atlas EQ-GCalibration and processing in PixInsight.

UGH. Not only is Slate reporting on a story that appears to be a hoax, they have doubled down on the fail by using this photo of a COMPLETELY HARMLESS garden spider.
Also, they described the villagers as being treated by "witch doctors", which is pretty much racist language for "not white people medicine."
