I took this picture with my cellphone, so please excuse the bad quality. It says: "push for emergency".
First attempt at suspension = FAIL. In this attempt, the el-wire is joined to baling wire. While the wire was stiff enough, it didn't scale well, and the wire tried to resume its original curled up shape.
The resulting oblong shapes are interesting, I'll admit, but too hard to replicate consistently, and in the end, just not what I'm going for. I'd like to investigate these shapes in the future, though.
The Bridge was unsucessful project of Myanmar Military Regime. Built to replace world famous Goat Hteik Bridge but failed.
having lots of trouble with youtube uploads.
1. login fails. 403 error.
2. login and upload are successful but conversion fails.
3. installed ffmpeg to preconvert .mov to .flv but ffmpeg gave error saying it didn't recognize the .mov file.
.mov files are being created by photobooth application on mac os x. 10.5.4
but i can get the same movie files to upload when doing it manually from web interface. argh.

my freshman year in college I went on a road trip with 5 friends all over the Eastern US. one of our stops was in Panama City, FL. At the beach we attempted to do some poses with handstands. the failed attempts were hilarious! we have so many great memories together from this trip!

it really slows me down to take my right hand off the keyboard and use the mouse. so I got to thinking, what if I get a split keyboard and put a trackpad in between the two halves? that way I could manage the cursor without my hands leaving the keyboard. so I did that. the trackpad was too low, so I propped it up with a book. still, I can't reach it without taking my hand off the home keys. bummer.
The 50x70cm poster "Dr.Fail" is our participation for the SEEAR Exhibition 2013 themed "Superheroes".
The brief was to create a character and visualize him through a poster.

The poster exhibits the origins of Dr.Fail through three basic timelines. Two of them are centered around his personal life and events, that inspired him to build machines and weird inventions, most of which failed miserably. The third timeline is focused on his relationship with Megumi, the girl who unwillingly broke his heart and transformed him to a super villain.

The idea behind the poster is not to show the character itself, but instead allow the viewer, through an emotional association, to visualize the character based on similar experiences. The color theme and the choise of the data circle, was inspired by the character's japanese origin, which is enhanced by the use of english and japanese languages for the legend and text of the poster.

After running over a nail, I tried patching my innertube, but the patch wouldn't hold. I tried patching the patch, but it blew too. So finally I just replaced the whole damn tube.

Take a close look at the Fianna Fail election posters in Cork (this one is John Dennehy's) and you will see that they are printed in Dublin. Now, I have no doubt that Fine Gael, Labour, the Greens, etc. print their election posters in Dublin too. However, they have the good sense no to advertise the fact on their posters!
So...
I bought a new camera. A Canon EOS 450D. It's practically the same as my 400D except it has live view. I bought it so I could at last animate with live view when I shoot at uni. I also had to pay £45 for some leads to go with it so I could run it off a plugged in battery as it will be on constantly from 9-7 every day.
I was £500 down and now without a Milly, but at least I would be able to animate easier and more effeciently.
On monday I went to uni, set everything up, got the set all glued in place etc, then plugged in the camera... the software was out of date and couldn't see my camera. I went to the IT department and asked them to please update it. One of them tried to, but had to wait for authorisation. As I forgot my old camera, it meant we could shoot nothing on monday.
The next day, that IT guy was sick and we had to explain our situation to someone else. This guy refused to upgrade it. He said he had something which could POSSIBLY be it, but he didn't want to try it in case it messed everything up. He said he would try during easter. We only get the studio until thursday next week, easter is the week after.
So whilst being £500 poorer for no real reason, I used my old camera and animated half-blind again.
The day after, we came into the studio to find the computer had killed our entire animation so far. The programme had died as we had so many hidden frames in it (because we had no live view). Now the first 30 seconds of animation, which is only about 600 frames long, is in amoungst 1771 frames and I have to dig out every single correct frame and somehow put it together. I've tried to do it and it's impossible. I've also realised that some parts need to be photoshopped and I have no way of knowing what files are correct and which are not once I've edited everything together and we have no time to reshoot the start of the animation.
We now have just monday to thursday to shoot the majority of our animation and reshoot the previous lost parts. We have to have the extra lighting equipment back by 4:30pm on thursday and we have classes we can't miss on monday and tuesday.
I think we (and by we, I mean Sachiko and I) are actually properly screwed over this time. If they refuse to give us an extension, we will fail. I have wasted so much money on the animation this time, not only the £500 but also all the money for animation supplies to make the puppet etc and all of the money spent on the last animation which we ended up scrapping.
None of this has been our fault at all, it's all just horrible bad luck. We come into the studio as soon as uni opens and leave when it closes at 7pm, we get 30 seconds shot a day and we don't leave the studio all day, but it looks like we've done basically nothing.

Oh and you know what else sucks? The trains around here have been broken for about 4/5 weeks and they're not going to be fixed until the end of May. I've seen Matt once, for 23 hours, since they broke and I probably won't see him again for another two weeks.
Also, my jaw has become considerably worse, I can now no longer open it enough to clean my teeth properly, fit a forkful of food in my mouth or bite into a sandwich. It also choses to come out of place sideways and at random. This causes me to look like I have tourettes as I jump and yell 'ARGH, FUCK!' without fail, every time it happens.
It was bound to happen. I fill my days with too much shit. My hobbies are out of control. But I am not letting this discourage me. I am still taking pictures but I am looking at it with a sense of freedom. I feel like I was tied down when I knew I had to have my 52 up and I didn't have any good ideas....so I would take a crap picture just to say I posted one.
I refuse to post crap. From here on out - I will only post photos I believe in and truly enjoy.
