Here is one of many Midget Faded Rattlesnakes (Crotalus oreganus concolor) that I found at night in the desert of eastern Utah this summer. This one had an amazingly long tongue. These rattlesnakes are pretty secretive and almost completely nocturnal in the warmer months of the year so they are not often seen by most people but they are pretty common across almost all of Eastern Utah. These snakes have a very potent venom and as their name suggests, they don't usually get very big.
For Looking close on Friday group the theme was fading Flora, here are a couple of extra shots that shouldn't go to waste. It was a joy to get out in the garden with a hint of spring in the air.

Time for clean the house this Saturday, and I feel sorry for this yellow rose on my desk :), photographed them before I throw them away :)

A combination of heavily faded locos, 6439 (C44AC (GE Model AC4400CW)), 5572 (C44ACCTE (GE Model AC4400CW)) and 7908 (C45ACCTE (GE Model ES44AC)), lead this lengthy eastbound Union Pacific container train. 5920 (GE/Wabtec modernised C44ACM) is providing assistance mid train, while 8999 (SD70AH (EMD SD70ACe-T4C)) is also providing distributed power at the rear.

Fading away...2018
Like I said, disappearances happen. Pain... goes phantom. Blood... stops running. People... people fade away. There's more I have to say. So much more. But... I've disappeared......

CN 7233 with very faded paint is getting ready to leave the East Side Canal Bank Spur with two grain empties from Ardent. At left is the Atwater Market's tower.
What was once a busy and almost daily operation has now faded to a rarely operating job. There is not much left when it comes to railroading down at North Avenue on Chicago's west side, especially on the Chicago Terminal side with only one remaining customer on the line. Here the job is seen in February of 2018 running around a gon to spot at Sipi Metals. The old dinosaur, ILSX 900, is a 1951 built SW8 which started its life as Algoma Central 140. It was then painted into its current Chicago Terminal colors and has been the North Avenue switcher for the entirety of its CTM career. This job has dwindled to an as needed operation only operating maybe a dozen times a year with a very uncertain future. Its been sad watching this historic piece of railroading fade away but I am glad I was able to have a hand in the final operations of the Chicago Terminal at North Avenue and on Goose Island.
A faded rose and a rusty heart can represent a lasting relationship. The rose represents beauty, while the rust represents the struggle of being together.
