For as long as I can remember fog has been my favourite "weather". Having such a narrow view of the world invites you to focus on the immediate, while staring into the deep white that obscures the road ahead, and allows the imagination to pave what lies ahead.

In photography my love for fog continues. I love how it creates new shooting opportunities, forgetting about the background, and letting the foreground fad into a deep white.

On this morning I was up for work. Despite loving the morning for many things (the air, the temperature, the fog, the stillness, COFFEE, etc.) I still cannot say that I am a morning person. But as soon as I looked out my window I put a spring in my step so that I would have a few extra moments to shoot on my walk to work.

While waiting on the median for a car to pass, I noticed how the bushes beautifully faded into the fog, accented by the lamp post at the far end that was barley in sight. I was quite excited and had a slight moment of fear as I was metering by eye, but wanted to capture this moment as I could see it in front of me.

In the end this photo captures the essence of that morning perfectly, and is a view through my lens of the world.

I've been experimenting with so many new films recently! It has been a blast to see the insane com ors that come from some of these films. Also, the roommate got a new scanner so we have larger scans now!

Built in October 1990 as ATSF 555, this locomotive received a BNSF patch in the early 2000s. But other than the patch, most everything else on this engine is original. And that explains the sad state of the once proud red & silver "Warbonnet" paint this Dash 8 wears.

The people we see in old photos...do you ever wonder if anyone living has memories of them? Or are they like, those old photos, fading and forgotten. I took this image in San Diego's Historic Old Town.

One of my first photos with my new (secondhand) 1DX. There hasn't been much around for photos lately as the heat has burnt off most of the flowers and it has been too hot to wander around for photos. Also, I haven't been on Flickr much as I have been spending spending time with my brother and sister in law as they came down to surprise me for my birthday.

15/02/2017 #1507. The first flush of flowers on my Hippe-amaryl-lily-thingy are beginning to wrinkle up and fade.

That moment, when you feel your Life Fading away...

If you're following along to my upload schedule, you'd expect this shot to include NS8111 on NS304. However, it is actually now an SD70ACe #1230 leading NS202 (which, as of recently, is being renamed NS288, and is evidently being rerouted away from the Roanoke District, from what I hear!) past the CPLs at Stuarts Draft.

We sure did chase hard out of Pkin, but upon rolling up to the nearby lot to the signals, we discovered we were in fact not as far ahead as we'd hoped, and only Jack got a photo of 304 at the signal, myself and Audie were a bit too slow to make it far enough. Thus, we were out of luck on that one.

But this whole time, NS304 was being trailed by NS202. We knew it was still behind them, and so we decided to wait. Wait we did - it took a good long minute, and the summer heat was really getting to us - but it was certainly worth it. Northbound light was fast disappearing, and yes, the other side of the tracks would be the better in terms of light. However, that whistle post was just too cool to pass up...

As the 202 flew past, we agreed to fly north for one more signal, no matter the light. Here we go...

Just another long exposure.

So I had a little fun with this one - adding a square crop and some toning. I'm surprised the flower was in focus, since it was blowing about in the breeze at the time!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

The front bedroom was one of the more tidier rooms. A fabulous scene forever frozen. I always think it quite sad to see photographs left behind, presumably of loved ones slowly fading away in thought and photograph
