I have tried to edit this photo since I took it, I didn't like the yellow and green colors (they were so vibrant they gave me a headache) so I altered them a bit with textures... I hope I did an okay job tuning it down.

Window of an old cottage with faded artificial flowers & some serious cobwebs across the middle panes! I'm fairly sure nobody lives there now. Taken on my iPhone4. Happy Window Wednesday everyone.

Hibiscus, in Malaga botanical gardens in the middle of October. What a enduring performer !

Like many people, flowers still have beauty as they age and fade.

Reworking of an old shot.

This is photo 3 of 5 photographs I took just as a rainstorm ended and the sun came out, near sunset. The first two are already in my photostream.

I saw the eerie light outside from my window and ran out to take the photos in the 5 minutes I had left before it faded.

White on white theme for Macro Mondays...HMM! :)

For the first time in years I have been in Otley in August and I have seen the heather getting to its prime. The thing is that a couple of weeks ago I sprained my ankle playing squash and I have had to agonise over how long I need to give my ankle to recover before I can head out! In the last few days the colour looking at it from our house, has become a little less vibrant and I finally accepted that this year wasn’t going to happen. Anyway, this morning the forecast was for low cloud and I couldn’t resist it, I promised myself that I would keep to the path and I was to be VERY careful with my ankle. So tanked up on pain killers and with good intentions I headed to higher ground, (colder and more chance of the colour been at its best) and I headed to Ilkley Moor. Well the misty conditions were perfect, the heater was in full flower and there was hardly anybody around! My luck was in! Anyway I hobbled around for an hour before my ankle started to give me a bit of bother and I decided to call it a day. It would be so good to get a sunset in in the next few days, but I guess I will have to see how the ankle is and to see if the weather plays ball before the flowers fade…

Looking through some images from this past Summer and I found this little gem of a Gaillardia or Blanket flower that has gone to seed, but still has some of its orange and yellow pedals and surrounded by the late day sun bouncing off the fence and other plants in the garden.

Shot using a Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 58mm f1.4 @ f1.8. This lens is just crazy in the right conditions. The bokeh can be super smooth all the way to intense and distracting at times. It really depends on the distance of the subject to background and the f-stop you are using.

For this image I actually removed some of the saturation and a wee bit of vibrance. Otherwise it was just crazy looking!

Also, I've been playing around with a signature for my images. I know some like it and some don't. I'm interested in what you think of it.

A bouquet of bruised and discounted roses which were leftovers from Mother's Day. Not perfect, but still pretty. Wanted to play around with editing today.

Even though the leaves of the French beans were starting to fade, the plants were still producing a good crop.

#34 - End of the Season

Thank you in advance for your views, comments, and faves. They are much appreciated!

What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer, the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months, and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade.

Amalie is out looking for some flowers, but is not having luck finding much that isn't faded. We had a hard frost down into the 20s this week, so most of the flowers are done for the season. Only the sedum (ice plant) has some pink left.

Hydrangea flowers were still alive quietly.

Considering it was only recently painted I was surprised to see how faded 56081 is already. It is seen hammering past Treeton Junction working the Shipley - Tidal scrap.

I was surprised to find these still growing in the culvert.
