Fading Ghosts

Down below the city lights, where the sun don't ever show,
In the tunnels of Chicago, where the lonely people go,
Steel rails hum a lullaby, the rhythm of the lost,
In the shadows of the midnight, where the fading ghosts are tossed.
We're fading ghosts in the subway, where no one knows our name,
Carried by the echoes of a city filled with pain.
We’re fading ghosts in the darkness, moving slow but going fast,
In the Chicago L-Train where the future meets the past.
The trains keep on rolling, they don’t care where you have been,
They only know the journey, but not the hurt that lies within.
A young girl sits in silence, eyes locked on the floor,
She’s dreaming of escape, but she’s trapped behind closed doors.
Oh, the lights flicker like our spirits,
In this city made of steel,
And the sound of distant voices,
Is the only thing that's real.
We’re the echoes of the broken, the stories left untold,
Wandering these tunnels, forever feeling cold.
We're fading ghosts in the subway, where no one knows our name,
Carried by the echoes of a city filled with pain.
We’re fading ghosts in the darkness, moving slow but going fast,
In the Chicago underground, where the future meets the past.
And the train keeps moving onward, as the night gives way to day,
But the fading ghosts of Chicago, in the subway, there they stay.
Lost souls in the city, underneath the world's disdain,
Forever riding circles on this never-ending train.
