2024 Spartan FC-94/Ferrara (1250/1000/20)
The engines are pretty basic, definitely simpler than last year's. They do light up, though, and I guess that's good.
Be sure to check out the other photos in the album. I talk about each part in more detail on those.
A tin mine, long abandoned, sits atop a hill overlooking the cold Celtic Sea. The engine worked in what was once a busy tin mine; it now stands idle, a memory made substant. This engine, a critical component of the mine, stands still, decaying and rusting reflecting the wider decay of a once important Cornish industry.
English Electric Type 4, No D289 passes Engine Shed Junction, Edge Hill hauling a MDHB 'Hunslet' 0-6-0 Diesel Shunter No 47 and Brake Van. D289, later became 40089 and withdrawn 7 years after this image was taken. There is also a preserved MDHB shunter similar to No 47, being No 45 based at the Middleton Railway in Leeds. Also of interest is the LNWR bridge plate No 3. Image taken 15th August 1969.
