San Jose Fire Department responded to reports of a garage fire on Mayfield rd, San Jose, December 2010. upon arrival units discovered smoke and flame coming from the Delta side of the residence, and threatening the adjoining property, as well as a boat and vehicles in front of the garage.
A Second Alarm was struck by Incident Commander Battalion Chief Robert Sapien, while firefighters had significant issues dealing with multiple wires down on both sides of the house.
San Jose Fire Engine 4 is a 1998 Hi-Tech built 1500 GPM pumper, on a Spartan Gladiator chassis.

But never a full-sized real life fire engine.

Firstly, the majority of the credit for this creation needs to go to Jason Railton who built the original version. He doesn't currently have any photos of his creation on his photostream, but it can be seen here, here and here, as part of his fairground display for the 2010 Great Western Lego Show.
I saw Jason's creation at the 2010 Great Western Lego Show and realised that it would make a perfect Christmas present for my brother-in-law who owns his own traction engine and has previously helped out with Carters Steam Fair. I contacted Jason and he was happy for me to duplicate his model as long as it wasn't for sale or for use as a competition entry.
As you can see, my version is not identical to Jason's. When recreating his model, I only had those photos I've already linked to above for reference, so some guesswork was involved in determining exactly how some areas were built. I also chose not to include the motorized functionality and made additional changes to the design based upon personal preference.
I would have liked to have included the yellow band between the flywheel and the dynamo, but unlike Jason's original creation which used the small red motor for the dynamo, mine is only attached by one stud and as such is not strong enough to counteract the tension in the band. Also, in case you were wondering, the cat was added for my sister, who didn't realise that LEGO made cats until she saw them used throughout the displays at the 2010 Great Western Lego Show.
Its finally time to get the replacement engine and gearbox into 428. Work begun with shifting two buses out of the main shed to make way for the forklift, the engine was recovered from up the side of the lynx and the bus was made ready to receive the new engine. This meant removing the bonnet, interior engine cover and the steel floor plate.

Consolidated Fire District 2 (CFD2) Engine 23 at a 3 alarm apartment fire in Mission Kansas 3-15-2014. Original fire call came out at 10:41hrs it quickly was upgraded shortly after.
Pretty clean engine bay for a car 59 years old. 1955 Ford Customline 4 door family cruiser with a 272 three speed on the column and overdrive. I will replace this Ford re-manufactured carb with a new Holley and reroute that fuel line to the front of the engine to keep it cooler and get the filter from over the manifold. The filter will be metal for safer fuel handling.
The fire was reported at 8:03 AM on March 30, 2013, bringing the swift response of forty-four Los Angeles Firefighters to 5239 Bellingham Avenue in Valley Village, where they discovered fire in one upstairs room of a two-story residential fourplex. Flames were confined to the well-involved room of fire origin, and extinguished in just 16 minutes. No human injuries were reported.

The rebuild of the largest purpose-built car engine in the world begins. 4 cylinders and 28 litres. There are some cars with larger engines but they're usually from aeroplanes. Some thought this FIAT engine was from an airship but it's actually quite a different design.

I took this picture as this would be the last time I would see Engine-Ear Toys. On July 31, 2011, this store closed as Disney California Adventure prepares for the new Buena Vista Street stores. This area will now be closed for a year.
This is the engine in the Saturn Sky. It has an Inline 4 cylinder but about 200 horsepower. Very impressive.

The project was abandoned when it's creator, Joe Lewis,was fired. He took all blueprints with him and it's only after he passed away that his youngest son, Parker, found them and decided to build it.
