Strikingly similar to the Ohlsson Rice model P4Y that was designed for Consolidated Vultee this model measures 8.5 inches wide, 9 inches long, and 8.0 inches high. With a bore of 1.373 inch and a stroke of 1.191 inch the total displacement is 3.527 cu in. (MECA bulletin 20). It has similar cooling fins on the top of the crankcase as the P4Y, the same style exhaust stacks, and a similar rear crankcase cover that incorporates the engine mount, timer assembly, carburetor, and intake tube. Unlike the P4Y this engine is cast in magnesium instead of aluminum and the bypass is integral within the cylinder casting. The engine was used by Convair for testing 1/10 scale flying boat models and produced 3.5 horsepower compared to the 2.5 horsepower of the Ohlsson and Rice P4Y.

In 1924 Southern Pacific Railroad took over and the engine was assigned to main line freight, during World War II the engine was used to pull troop trains and to haul freight to military bases in Arizona and Southern California. Around 1945-1946 the engine was reassigned to the Globe-Miami bowie run pulling both passenger and freight trains.

For the Statistics minded, rail fans no 1774 has 63 inch drives, 21 inch cylinders with a 28 inc stroke and boiler pressure of 200 pounds. Weight on the drivers is 159,000 pounds. Light weight is 164,340 pounds. After 54 years, engine number 1774, a veteran of more than three million miles of service over the eight-state southern pacific railroad system, was presented to teh city of Globe on november 2, 1959. A spur was built by volunteers of the ironworkers local #75 and the old steam engine number 1774 was relocated to its present site, The Veterans Memorial Park.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- Contractor Ty Lyttle gets help from Jesse Lynn Tullis and Sam Brown, contractors from Advanced Integrated Technology, to position a twin engine on blocks aboard the Corps’ Derek dredge Elizabeth. On October 9, 2012, the Elizabeth’s “green” transformation began with the installation of two new fuel-efficient and EPA-compliant Iveco marine propulsion diesel engines. Add to that new twin diesel generators, housed in sound-barrier boxes that significantly reduce noise pollution and exhaust emissions. The eco-friendly engines were purchased under a separate contract at a total cost of $100,000. MJL Enterprises, LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran small business, based in Norfolk, Va., was contracted to install the engines and generators at a cost of $115,000. The Elizabeth patrols federal navigable waterways of Hampton Roads, performing a wide variety of maritime missions, among them the removal of surface and underwater obstructions that would impede navigation. Gray Marine Engine were built by Gray Marine Motor Company of Detroit, Michigan.

I'm not sure if this Gray Marine engine, let alone any V8 engine, was ever offered in a Divco. According to the Divco Club of America the Continental 4- and 6-cylinder and Hercules 6-cylinder engines were standard in the 1950s, while in the 1960s 6-cylinder ohv Nash engines were used in addition, as well as the option for a Detroit-Diesel 3-53N 3-cylinder 2-stroke diesel.

1971 350ci engine that came in the Camaro. Looks can be deceiving.... can't see the oil leaks under the heads and the flat lobes on the cam.

The Roaring Camp & Big Trees Railroad's Dixiana Shay #1 was built in 1912 by the Lima Locomotive Works and acquired by the railroad in 1962 from the Coal Processing Co. of Dixiana, Virginia. The engine went into service for the RC&BTRR railroad when it opened in 1963.

The San Francisco Fire Department lost two of its members from Engine Company 26, who were both critically injured during an explosion while bravely fighting a house fire in the Diamond Heights neighborhood on June 2, 2011. Both died at the hospital as a result of their injuries after all rescussitative measures were taken by the Emergency Trauma staff at San Francisco General Hospital.

Days later firefighters from around California and around the country gathered to pay their respects during a funeral service. In this sequence we see some of the equipment from the North Bay Area and points further north.

This engine was later detuned and used to power the air-conditioning compressor for a commercial bus.

My only concern is the 8t gear that's attached to a technic half axle/pin, which occasionally slips off at higher speeds...

We are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. We have 38 years of experience to rebuild jasper engines and indy cylinder heads and many more..

Around 5:00am neighbors awoke to hear the screams of a small girl. Rushing outside they discovered a Mattos Drive home with fire bursting through the windows on both floors of the house. Neighbors from across the back fence had climbed the fence and were helping the residences climb down a "human ladder" from the second floor bedrooms to escape the blaze.

Milpitas Fire Fighters summoned to the scene discovered the home fully involved upon arrival, and set about protecting exposures and finally controlling the blaze. By 8:00am the fire was extinguished.

Milpitas Engine 2 is a 2010 Pierce Arrow XT. It is unique in the region in that it has 4 wheel steer to enable it to travel easily on some of the mountain roads in the Milpitas Foothills.

Fire engine red, no white, or is it green? The owner of these vehicles told us his neighbors complained about the junk. His nearest neighbor was a long ways away. Its not like downtown LA. If we can't have junk vehicles what do photographers shoot?

This truck was obviously sourced from a local Town Highway Department and not the county's own fleet. If anyone knowns its original owner let me know.
