From a second-floor terrace in Ibi, looking south. Always south — toward the mountains, toward the long downhill slope that leads, eventually, to the Alicante coastline and the Mediterranean beyond. We were up in Tagaytay for the weekend and I took this shot from the park railings around sunset time. The tripod was there but the light was changing fast so I didn't use it. I held the camera steady as I could while the wind was picking up a bit. The sky had those orange and gray clouds going on, and you could see the whole landscape below with houses and buildings spread out everywhere. There's tall grass and plants in the foreground that were swaying around, and the view stretches pretty far back to some distant hills. The lighting worked out okay since I caught it right before it got too dark.

The impressive and very well kept lighthouse on Eilean Musdile, Just off the South end of the Isle of Lismore in the Sound of Mull, I've shot this a fair few times now but the conditions were simply perfect on this day with the dramatic lighting falling on the building, and the extremely menacing clouds above moving quickly along between heavy rain showers providing a moody backdrop against the hills.

My parents driveway is just on the left of this corner. This is where I grew up. I think about the countless times I have driven or walked around this corner. And the many times I have photographed it. Life is a wonderful journey--we must all find our own way.

One leg rests casually over the edge of the seat, a silent challenge to anyone who dares approach. Her blade stands grounded beside her, not raised in threat, but ready all the same.
At her side, her guardians remain close. One watches the horizon, ever alert. The other curls comfortably against her, small but fierce, trusting completely in the one who commands both throne and storm. This is not a moment of battle but of aftermath. Of a queen who has already survived what was meant to break her.
Braided hair falls down her back like woven history, every strand telling a story of trials endured and victories claimed. She does not need to move. The world already knows who she is.
