This weeks horoscope, 3rd week of August.

"This is a week for remembering past versions of your life, it’s a week for listening to the songs that used to make you feel free, it’s a week for flexing muscles that used to be strong. Listen to the way your voice changes when you talk to very old friends. Look at pictures of places you used to live and notice the colors that show up behind your eyes. It’s a good week to remember that your life has been different than it is now, and that it is going to get different again, and that even now, you are bright and full of the future."

I wept when I read this. My recent battle with agoraphobia and anxiety has left me more than a little worse for wear. keeping me out of work, rendering me a burden to my husband and feeling like a dead beat at the yarn shop.

But I can feel a difference. A subtle shift towards a healthy mind, towards functionality.

Every day is still a battle, a delicate balance managing triggers and quieting attacks and celebrating victory when I can keep said attack at a level five or six, rather than a full blown ten. I keep my xanax on me at all times, along with my amino acids, calcium, and other supplements I've found useful. I feel myself inching, scrapping across cobble stone, towards recovery.

I took these (clarity and difference) on what I think of as my first day "back". The Xanax reminded me what I was like. I remembered I kind of like myself. I remembered that I can be charming and kind, I remembered that i like to pilfer the neighbors flowers when we go on walks around the block. In a funny way I missed myself.

There is a difference between what is live fish, fresh fish and fish that the local eat. Live fish is defined as still alive and swimming, fresh fish is dead but kept in ice. Even though Bali is an island, Balinese typically do not fish due to their superstitious belief that the seas are haunted by evil spirits. Live fish produce is brought in by mostly Javanese and the Fish Market is normally on the beach. As there are little refridgeration, fish tend to spoil fast. So what happens is that the leftover fish are normally steamed and sold to locals in the in-land markets. These steamed fish are steamed over and over again to prevent rotting each day. Fish is also more expensive and therefore reserve for special occasions only. (Ubud Market, Bali)

What a difference a day can make....40 days of no rain changed overnight to a storm with winds, big rain, and cold fog. The sun umbrella was open yesterday! #cy365 253/365 'what a difference'

The mural painted on the wall of Busan Korean BBQ restaurant at 6311 Quinpool Road is an homage to the history of the Quinpool area, featuring such vanished landmarks as Hogie's Steakhouse, Oxford Theatre and Video Difference, as well as the old school General Motors Metro Transit city buses.

My sister and I had a big discussion today about the difference between doctors and nurses. Bottom line: Doctors cure, Nurse care. Both specialities are essential. I get annoyed when people assume that nurses would rather be doctors if they were smarter. (or something) Even my husband says, "You are really smart. You could go to medical school." i can't make him understand that my focus isn't figuring out disease process. My job is to help people do what they would normally do if they could. It is to help people maintain their dignity and autonomy when their bodies won't co-operate. Sitting with my mother in law at the end of her life reminds me of waiting for babies to be born. One must wait for the beginning and the end of life to unfold in its own time. The nurse helps the person undergoing the life change feel cared for and safe.

Pride.be - Pride 2018 - Your Local Power

Feeling free and at home in your neighborhood, town or city. Be and show yourself in the streets. Holding hands with the person you love and smiling at each other in public. Our personal lives occur in the public space. Considering the approaching communal elections, everyone (youngsters, seniors, families, couples and all people - no matter what gender or orientation) asks the local politicians: How do you make a difference? What do you do to improve diversity in our everyday life? Where the rain makes way for the sun, we will walk proudly under the rainbow!

We will all be heading to the voting booths for the local elections on 14th of October. Deciding which circle to colour in is an important decision. A conscious decision can lead to a better living environment in your city or municipality.

And we're not just talking about the redesign of the local park, the policies in the municipal school, or the proper functioning of the local Public Centre for Social Welfare. Your local municipal or city administration can also make a real difference and turn the place where you live into a true rainbow bubble, if that's what you'd like, of course.

So it's no wonder that this year's Pride is focusing on the local elections. Belgian Pride is putting the municipalities and cities in the limelight in 2018, or better yet, at the end of the rainbow! We want the slogan 'Your Local Power!' to encourage municipal and city administrations to enact explicit, integrated local LGBTI+ policies.

Municipalities and cities can and must make the difference. They must accept responsibility for the well-being of all their residents. Flying the rainbow flag at the local government offices during the Pride period is a symbol of this. This is also a way that the municipality or city can show their solidarity with the LGBTI+ community. This symbolic gesture is not an infringement on neutrality. On the contrary, we can only actively work on ending all forms of discrimination once there is recognition for diversity and inclusion.

Policy-makers can make the lives of many citizens that much rosier by taking both small and large actions: by introducing a diversity charter in sports clubs, by making information on gender and sexuality available at the local libraries, by providing logistical and financial support to local associations, testimonials, and courses in the municipal education system, by holding a queer film festival in the local movie theatre or cultural centre, by holding LGBTI+ actions in community centres and youth centres, by providing information on what to do if you are the victim or witness of discrimination, by offering space for intimacy and (LGBTI+) sexuality in assisted-living centres, by training local police precincts and municipal officials, by including Equal Opportunity as an explicit competence within the city administration, etc.

The list of things that cities and municipalities can do is endless. Plus, many of these actions are very easy to implement. Sometimes, your local administration only needs a little boost, and you can give them that boost in the voting booth on 14th of October. A good local administration meets the needs and requirements of all residents. What does the LGBTI+ community in your city or municipality need?

You can already send the politicians a signal that is loud and clear on Saturday, the 19th of May. Make your wishes heard during the Belgian Pride.

We hope to see you there! Everyone is welcome!

Approximately 130 Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees and Civilian volunteers joined about 60 Korean volunteers Saturday morning for the first-ever Make A Difference Day in Korea at Deog Dong San park in Pyeongtaek.

USA Weekend Magazine created Make a Difference Day about 18 years ago as national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors, according to their web site, www.usaweekend.com/diffday/aboutmadd.html, www.usaweekend.com/diffday/aboutmadd.html. Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October.

The volunteers spent the morning picking up trash, cleaning out storm drains and ditches and performing beautification projects around the park.

Following the work session, volunteers enjoyed lunch and a traditional Korean dance performance by students from Shin Han High School.

“Peace Begins with Me”, but also with dialogue between feuding communities to resolve their differences. A combination of insufficient local governance structures, scarcity of and subsequent disputes over water and grazing areas, and the proliferation of small arms has caused many such conflicts between cattle herders, not least in Central Equatoria State.

On 24 April, a cross-disciplinary team from UNMISS and the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) and Ministry of Peacebuilding visited Luri for an outreach event gathering representatives from both groups, youth and women’s leaders, local authorities and traditional chiefs.

Awareness on the Mission’s mandate in South Sudan, the status of the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement together with the importance of youth in peacebuilding and participation in the electoral process was raised, with everyone given an opportunity to ask questions and express their concerns. Useful conflict resolution/mitigation techniques to promote peaceful coexistence were also discussed.

Musical entertainment was also provided, with much singing and dancing being both performed and thoroughly enjoyed.

Day 2 Monday 8th June

Weather: Mainly clear skies, windless and hot. Ideal!

What a difference a day makes! Our well-situated hotel overlooked the wooded hills of Plitvice National Park, a

UNESCO World Heritage Site. A path to the rear of our hotel led out to an interesting area of trees and a rockstrewn

spot sandwiched between farmland, favouring the attentions of the keen dawn patrol. Any hotel boasting

singing Golden Orioles, Black-headed Buntings and Bee-eaters overhead can’t be bad. Among the morning’s

first few butterflies: attractive Pearly Heath and challenging Nickerl’s Fritilllary.

Though not specifically visited for its butterflies, the park’s breathtaking spectacles of dramatic waterfalls and a

series of deep, turquoise-coloured lakes really is a must-see experience. Our woodland walk went beside the

lakes, seeing a few butterflies, birds, dragonflies and a display of Karst-loving wild flowers which was a botanist’s

dream. Eventually reaching the largest lake, we joined a ferryboat which took us to rejoin our minibus.

Unmissable as these truly impressive water features are, it is a major tourist attraction, which is not the usual

Naturetrek scene, and it was time to move on. Several notable species along our leisurely walk were Chequered

Blue, Edible Frog, a sunning Dalmatian Wall Lizard and some Sombre Tits.

Now to concentrate on our key objective…Gerard told us of a “butterfly-filled meadow” he knew and so

following a relatively short drive, we arrived at the southern sector of the National Park and indeed a large,

gloriously grassy basin surrounded by the park’s massive wooded hills. Our first picnic lunch, then into the fray!

Butterflies abounded! A mesmerizing array of families represented and intermingling: the obvious, such as

graceful Back-veined Whites, dramatic Scarce Swallowtail, vivid Southern Festoon, Clouded Apollos and brilliant

orange Purple-edged Coppers as well as perhaps more familiar Small Tortoiseshells and Painted Ladies. Pleasing

were more Amanda’s Blues than anyone in the group had ever seen together before, a Europe-wide declining

species. Small and Chestnut Heaths and Safflower, Grizzled and Oberthur’s Grizzled Skippers threw up

identification challenges. Meanwhile, other blues, browns, yellows and fritillaries demanded our attention. The

drive back to our hotel saw our elated group well rewarded with our action-packed first full day. All kept busily

deployed observing the dramatic scenery and exciting species we had travelled to see.
