PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. - Service member volunteers from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center team up with local community members and an estimated 3 million volunteers nationwide to "make a difference" Oct. 22 during Make A Difference Day 2011. This year more than 80 military volunteers from the Presidio left their language studies behind to join projects at Beta Park and a private residence, both in Seaside, as well as Marshall Elementary School located in the Ord Military Community. Held annually on the fourth Saturday of October, Make A Difference Day is sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine in partnership with the HandsOn Network and, according to their website, is referred to as the most encompassing national day of helping others.

The Apprentice Scheme endeavours to make a difference to the lives of young people across Wales. The Apprenticeship Scheme Event celebrated the accomplishments of our original apprentices, and congratulated them on obtaining full time posts within the Assembly. The event also showcased the most recent apprenticeship scheme and provided an opportunity for everyone to meet the new apprentices. The event was jointly hosted by the Presiding Officer Rosemary Butler, and the Chief Executive Claire Clancy. Sandy Mewies AM presented apprentices with certificates in her capacity as Assembly Commissioner.

The difference between the HiD body and EiD body is obvious in these pics. That HiD body has such elegant long lines and poses better. The thickness of the EiD might work better to balance a large boy-turned-girl head, tho.

The southern right whale (Eubalaena australis) is a baleen whale, one of three species classified as right whales belonging to the genus Eubalaena. Like other right whales, the southern right whale is readily distinguished from others by the callosities on its head, a broad back without a dorsal fin, and a long arching mouth that begins above the eye. Its skin is very dark grey or black, occasionally with some white patches on the belly. The right whale's callosities appear white due to large colonies of cyamids (whale lice). It is almost indistinguishable from the closely related North Atlantic and the North Pacific right whales, displaying only minor skull differences. It may have fewer callosities on its head and more on its lower lips than the two northern species. Approximately 10,000 southern right whales are spread throughout the southern part of the Southern Hemisphere.
The size of an adult female is 15 m (49 ft)[12] and can weigh up to 47 tonnes (46 long tons; 52 short tons), with the larger records of 17.5–18 m (57–59 ft) in length and 80 tonnes (79 long tons; 88 short tons) in weight, making them slightly smaller than other right whales in Northern Hemisphere. The testicles of right whales are likely to be the largest of any animal, each weighing around 500 kg (1,100 lb). This suggests that sperm competition is important in the mating process. Right whales cannot cross the warm equatorial waters to connect with the other (sub)species and (inter)breed: their thick layers of insulating blubber make it impossible for them to dissipate their internal body heat in tropical waters. However, based on historical records and unconfirmed sightings in modern periods, E. australis actually do occur in equatorial waters.
The proportion and numbers of molten-coloured individuals are notable in this species compared with the other species in the Northern Hemisphere. Some whales remain white even after growing up.
A baleia-franca-austral (Eubalaena australis) é uma das três espécies de baleia-franca, pertencente ao género Eubalaena. Estima-se que haja cerca de 7500 exemplares desta baleia espalhadas pelo sul do Hemisfério Sul, numa faixa compreendida entre os 30º e os 55º de latitude. Pode atingir os 18 metros de comprimento e as 80 toneladas de peso.
A caça indiscriminada deste tipo de baleia, devido à quantidade de óleo possuída por exemplar, deixou-a quase em perigo de extinção. Desde o século XIX, a população destes animais foi reduzida em 90%. Actualmente estima-se que exista uma população que oscila entre os 7500 e 8000 indivíduos. Durante o inverno, as baleias escolhem as águas mais quentes do hemisfério sul para se reproduzirem, tais como os seguintes as costas da Península Valdés (na Patagónia), Austrália, África do Sul e Brasil.

Even more interesting, I tried to show the difference between less than 3 months. On April 9 this trail called Beaverbrook was engulfed in flames and almost nothing was left. The boardwalk further down the path was burned and sunk into the mud. Less than three months later almost everything has grown back but here and there you can still see dead trees and burnt wood.

24406 a 2013 New Flyer XD40 pauses next to the 24606 which is a 2016 New Flyer XD40. Very few, if any, differences can be visibly seen by the untrained eye between these two generations of New Flyer busses. The most pronounced and obvious difference is the route numbers! Santa Rosa CityBus loves low numbered routes. There are technically 19 routes running over 14 different New Flyer XD series busses.

Students work at the West Ward Neighborhood Partnership 's Lynn Street Garden.
More than 120 students, faculty, and staff volunteered for service projects throughout the Easton community during the annual Make a Difference Day. Hosted by the Landis Community Outreach Center, the day’s projects benefited the Center for Animal Health and Welfare, Phillipsburg Shade Tree Commission, Easton’s Weed and Seed Sunflower Garden, Safe Harbor homeless shelter, Easton Urban Farm, and West Ward Neighborhood Partnership. The work varied from painting, to landscaping, to light construction.

The charitable societies and organizations and groups at Glasgow University held a Day of Student Activism today at Qudos in the Queen Margaret Union. The groups involved were GU Amnesty International, STAR, Glasgow University Climate Action, GU Stop Aids Campaign, People & Planet, Student Volunteers Abroad, Fair Trade and C-Card.
