The aim for this icon design is to appeal to a variety of age groups through the theme of cryptozoology. Mythical monsters can appeal to children and to young adults as proven by the video game industry. The icon designs must focus on the main characters: cryptids and showcase the characters while giving clues to the environments they are thought to reside in. The four designs should form a cohesive group whilst maintaining appropriate differences.

The Make a Difference Area at Summer Camp is located just outside the main walkway to the Moonshine Stage and hosts a wide variety of nonprofit organizations. We hope that the education these groups provide at their booths and during panel discussions in the Soulshine Tent will increase your awareness of important environmental and human rights issues, and inspire you to get involved and take action in a positive way…both locally and around the world!

This is the year for rapper and activist Cormega. Last week the musician released his “I Made a Difference” single featuring a slew of rappers from the Hip-Hop community. Cormega held a press conference at Red Music/Stache Media where he addressed the need to help the victims in Haiti. It was on a trip there after the massive earthquake on January 12th, 2010; where the rapper gave his time and efforts to the people of Haiti. Since then, Mega has organized a coat drive along with performing at this year’s Hip-Hop for Haiti concert at S.O.B’s in New York City. Cormega adds “it was time for me to step up. I wanted to make a change and make a difference.”

Over 300,000 Haitian residents in the capitol of Port-Au-Prince were either dead or left homeless. Many are still in need of medical attention and supplies, clothing, food, and basic housing.

After his trip to Haiti, Cormega decided to write a song that would help the Hip-Hop community raise the awareness that’s still needed in the country. Also, rise to occasion to help the people of Haiti. But the project was hard to start from the jump. Cormega asked many rappers and musicians to contribute, but some were seeking other reasons than to donate their time and resources to the cause. He elaborates on how some of the egos made him shy away from some artists. “I asked some artists could they just spit a verse. Many were like, “who’s going to be on the record?” Moving forward, he chose vocalist/songwriter Maya Azucena to sing the hook on the record. Azucena, who’s had a major track record for donating her time and resources to causes like Haiti to domestic abuse, was more than adamant to participate in the project. Maya believes “this was something I had to do! I couldn’t sleep on this one! I’ve done many benefit concerts for the people of Haiti, but something like this tugged at my heart and when Cormega asked me to part of this, I jumped on it.”

Cormega then asked Red Media/Sony if they wanted to contribute that they were more than obliged to. Lamar Leggard of Red Media adds: “we at Red Media decided that not only are we going to record and promote “I Made a Difference,” were going to sell the song via i Tunes for .99 and all the digital proceeds will go to actor Sean Penn’s non-profit charitable foundation, The J/P Haitian Relief Organization.” Of all the major foundations and charities that are active in Haiti, Cormega choose Penn’s organization “because I saw the action he was taking in Haiti. Here’s an Academy Award Winning actor that not only took time out from his busy schedule, but was and is on the front lines helping the people of Haiti.”

Many members of the Hip-Hop community such as rappers Redman, General Steele of Cocoa Brovaz, Lil’ Fame of MOP, Stic Man of Dead Prez, keyboardist Jazimoto, and the band The Revelations performed and made a difference. The song “I Made a Difference” is now available on i Tunes as well as in a downloadable ringtone format for all cell phones.

P.S.

This is my first dip into Photoshop. Not what I would describe as an 'Intuitive' product :-{

The difference from the previous is the centurion moved from right to left.

Some are difficult to spot, others require closer examination. To discern true difference in a pinch is the art.

Flitcham St. Mary the Virgin's church

The first noticeable difference in this, compared to most other churches is that the tower is to the east. Flitcham cum Appleton is an early church on an ancient site. It is believed that St Felix built a church here in the 7th c. The tower is Norman as can be seen by the blocked arches beneath the later upper story. The 13th c. south transept and the once apsidal chancel (east of the tower) has been ruinous for many years. Heavy restoration has taken place over the centuries not least in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. More recent restoration has taken place, in particular work on preserving the tower. This never was a cruciform church although that may at one time have been the intention; no foundations have been found north of the nave or tower, which now serves as the chancel. An octagonal font, a plain off the shelf pulpit and a featureless barrel roof do nothing to enhance the character of this much loved church.

The original name of this store, La Différence, comes from the French phrase "Haiti, vive la différence," as one of the co-owners worked in Haiti for a time. The company began in Charlottesville in 1980 and moved to its present location in Richmond in October 1998. In 2014 the company name was changed to LaDiff because that's what most customers called it.

Chase was sleeping on the loveseat while I sewed. She just looked so cute with her paws all tucked up under her.

This one was taken with the flash. It really brings out the red in her coat.

Funny with the way she is laying she really looks fat but she only 69 pounds, which the Vet says is only a few pounds over.

The venerable15th century church underwent a transformation to become a multi-use community centre with a wellbeing and heritage theme. Suffolk Mind, a mental health and wellbeing charity, and the Churches Conservation Trust now hold the restored building.

St Mary-at-the-Quay was built between 1450 and 1550 at which time it would have stood right on the quayside of the River Orwell.

It has a hammer-beam roof which is one of the earliest examples of its type.

The church was partially restored in the 1870s, but during the first half of the 20th century much of its congregation moved out of the town centre.

In 1943 it was damaged by a bomb that fell near the docks and blew out many of its windows. It was not used regularly as a church thereafter.

The restoration will give it a new permanent use for the first time in nearly three quarters of a century. See also Robin Gaylard's album of the restoration progress of the church during 2014/15.

Theresa M. Grant has dedicated her life to helping disadvantaged children. In 2005 she quit her job as a marketing executive in the Silicon Valley (near San Francisco, California) and sold all of her possessions to fulfill a calling she had to make a difference in Africa. She moved to an orphanage on a farm outside of Lusaka, Zambia. Finding so much joy and satisfaction from making a difference in the lives of others, Grant joined an organization called C2BU and launched the international side of the organization focused on helping people find their purpose in life. Grant expanded her work into the Kilimanjaro area of Tanzania and decided to start her own organization solely dedicated to empowering children in need called, Make A Difference or Make A Difference NOW. The word 'Now' was added to the organization after talking to numerous people who wanted to make a difference but found it hard to volunteer right away due to restrictions, deadlines and levels of required experience. Eventually, Make A Difference NOW developed into an organization that accepted help throughout the year no matter what talent was offered. Make A Difference NOW strives to enable people from all over the world to make a difference at the very moment they are ready.

Grant has a BS in International Relations and a BA in Spanish. She has supervised more than 60 volunteers from countries around the world including Australia, Belgium, India, Israel, Sweden, Tanzania, UK, USA and Zambia helping empower disadvantaged children as well as women by working on literacy, environmental, health and art programs to micro-loans, income generators and numerous other educational programs.

This is me without (left) and with make-up (right). Did you notice a difference? I don't wear make-up every day and if I do, it's subtle. I feel different wearing it, though. More like a woman, more like taking care of myself. Do you know what I mean?
