The original name of this store, La Différence, comes from the French phrase "Haiti, vive la différence," as one of the co-owners worked in Haiti for a time. The company began in Charlottesville in 1980 and moved to its present location in Richmond in October 1998. In 2014 the company name was changed to LaDiff because that's what most customers called it.
Watkins-Cottrell Company, a wholesaler of hardware, guns, cutlery and other merchandise, operated from 1867 until 1972, first at 1311/1313 E. Main Street and later from this building.
Chase was sleeping on the loveseat while I sewed. She just looked so cute with her paws all tucked up under her.
This one was taken with the flash. It really brings out the red in her coat.
Funny with the way she is laying she really looks fat but she only 69 pounds, which the Vet says is only a few pounds over.
"I establish boundaries which determine both what is collected and where it is collected from. Accumulating and assembling single-coloured objects, I consider the psychological influence of colour, its effect and sensory impact upon the viewer.”
Chroma is the culmination of Manchester artist Liz West’s interests and ideas over a five-year period. This new body of work, site-specific to BLANKSPACE, explores the themes of colour theory, collecting and the exploration of real and illusory space.
West’s playful and magical works, each of which she builds by hand, consist of unexpected and carefully arranged combinations of materials. Systems of ordering, classification and coding are applied in the development and generation of West’s work. She invokes the monumental, whilst utilising commonplace objects that are found and collected from the world around her
And what was this difference. Here's a photo of Remy Blaettler (@swissghostrider) talking about some political implications.

DANCE UMBRELLA FESTIVAL 12-22 October 2011
A world premiere THE DIFFERENCE ENGINE is a vital and captivating interplay between dance, live and electronic music, video and theatre. Loosely inspired by Chris Marker’s 1962 short film La Jetée, this new work manipulates time and memory by exploring the world’s primordial past, its physical present, and its technological future
is the true premium phone here — there’s no argument. And Samsung made sure of that when it gave the a plastic back and barred it from having a 120 Hz refresh rate display. In terms of hardware, they are very similar beasts. Top tier phones with the latest processors, massive amount of RAM, and […]

This winery had two distict soil types splitting the land of the winery in half. They planted the same grape on both sides, to a definite difference in taste!
Added a Mitropa Spieswagen (Restaurant Car) to my Diesel set, just got to sort out the couplings conversion before the excursion to Prattlesham Bay can get going. While having my afternoon snooze I did a bit of lateral thinking. Remove one coupling from the Spieswagen and one coupling from the first class coach and swap them over. The first class coach then will connect to one end of the Spieswagen with Fleischmann couplings and the second class coach connects to the other end of the Spieswagen with NEMs. That'll do for me.
There's a difference between a sacred place and a paradise. Detroit is not a paradise, but it is a sacred place. It has beauty, but its flaws are plain and it embraces its rough reputation. It is human, the very thing that makes it sacred. It thrives, it struggles, it fights with itself, and it shouts loudly to the world that Detroit matters.
This image is taken from a People Mover station in downtown Detroit, a structure that represents both advancement and disappointment. It is Detroit and it is my self-portrait.
It’s said that women come from Venus and men come from Mars. A similar statement can be safely given about cats and dogs as well. The two of them are so diametrically opposite in their basic nature that one who pets a dog would never like to pet a cat, and the one who prefers a cat would m...

PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. - Service member volunteers from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center team up with local community members and an estimated 3 million volunteers nationwide to "make a difference" Oct. 22 during Make A Difference Day 2011. This year more than 80 military volunteers from the Presidio left their language studies behind to join projects at Beta Park and a private residence, both in Seaside, as well as Marshall Elementary School located in the Ord Military Community. Held annually on the fourth Saturday of October, Make A Difference Day is sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine in partnership with the HandsOn Network and, according to their website, is referred to as the most encompassing national day of helping others.

Charles Babbage was not able to raised the funds to build a complete Difference Engine. 153 years after he died the first working engine was completed at the Science Museum in London. There is now a second in Mountain View, California.
It had many of the attributes of a modern computer - separate CPU, memory and I/O devices, stored programs and easily reprogrammable with punched cards.
There is a difference between what is live fish, fresh fish and fish that the local eat. Live fish is defined as still alive and swimming, fresh fish is dead but kept in ice. Even though Bali is an island, Balinese typically do not fish due to their superstitious belief that the seas are haunted by evil spirits. Live fish produce is brought in by mostly Javanese and the Fish Market is normally on the beach. As there are little refridgeration, fish tend to spoil fast. So what happens is that the leftover fish are normally steamed and sold to locals in the in-land markets. These steamed fish are steamed over and over again to prevent rotting each day. Fish is also more expensive and therefore reserve for special occasions only. (Ubud Market, Bali)
