Another from that beautiful sunrise on Saturday down at Steetley Pier in Hartlepool.

It is the third highest mountain in Brazil, situated on the border of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais states. It is the highest point in both states. It was historically considered the highest mountain in Brazil until 1965, when Pico da Neblina and Pico 31 de Março, next to the Venezuelan border, were explored, measured, and both found to be higher. The peak is said to have been so named after Pedro II, Emperor of Brazil, ordered a flag to be flown on top of it.

It is one of the major attractions of Caparaó National Park, accessible from the nearby town of Alto Caparaó. That town and the entrance to the park lie in Minas Gerais, but the summit of Pico da Bandeira lies in Espírito Santo.

The summit is accessible to hikers of most age groups, with only very limited fitness requirements. The track from the park entrance to the summit track [8 km (5.0 mi)] can be driven by most vehicles, and the summit track itself runs for approximately 9 km (5.6 mi), with a further 1,000 m (3,280 ft) climb.

Our time:

The sequence of the highest mountains in Brazil:

#1: Pico da Neblina (2,993.80 m / 9,822 ft), Venezuela/Brazil;

#2: March 31 Peak (2,972.70 m / 9,816 ft), Venezuela/Brazil;

#3: Pico da Bandeira (2,892 m / 9,488 ft), Brazil;

#4: Pico do Calçado* (2,849 m / 9,347 ft), Brazil;

#6: Pico do Cristal (2,769.80 m / 9,084 ft), Brazil;

The difference from the third highest to the first is only 101.80 meters / 334 ft in altitude.

I climbed the third, fourth and sixth in Brazil this weekend. Only the sixth mountain is challenging.

* For reasons of topographical prominence, the IBGE considers Pico do Calçado a secondary peak of Pico da Bandeira and not a separate mountain.

An incredibly beautiful woodpecker that is found in the Himalayan forests and maybe a few other pockets in the country. It has a rich yellow and green mixed color which I found to be spectacular. The bird is also quite large compared to many other woodpeckers I have seen. The behaviours are similar to the others, but then these birds do come to the ground. We have sighted them foraging on the lower canopies and sometimes middle canopy unlike a few which are exclusive to the higher canopy.

There is another Lesser Yellownape as well which I was fortunate enough to sight and shoot. Both are amazingly beautiful! The differences are clear, but both share the same color and feather patterns except for a patch of red for the Lesser Yellownape on the crown.

Many thanks in advance for the faves and feedback.

This lovely origami model is called "Rain Star" or in Spanish "Estrella de la Lluvia", because when it was created by Aldo Marcell it was raining ;-)

I wanted to see what the difference is when I changed the color, so that's why you see 2 variations, I like them both....which one has your preference?

I put them on a mirror so you can see at the same time the other site.

I tweaked the windlight settings at Furillen. There is now a day cycle. Most of the time you won't notice all that much difference. But if you do notice and have any feedback, please let me know.

There are now more than 350 visitors to the sim each day, a level of interest that has been helped by the great pictures being posted in this group. Thanks to everyone for joining in.

With the recent burst of hot weather here, a whole assortment of butterfly species have launched their flight season. I have a few places I like to go to see them, varied habitats from sheltered forest to open meadow. The challenge with open meadow butterflies is that they try to shelter themselves from predators - all of the habitats I visit are heavily populated by very vocal Flycatcher species, as well as Phoebes and Wood-pewees. So they operate in the deep grasses where they can, and getting close to them without flushing them is a challenge. As with migratory birds, I find I am better settling in to the location and then letting the creatures come to me.

The Ringlet is quite variable in its colouring and its markings, as like many butterfly species (and many birds) geographic differences mean different looks. The Ringlet’s orange forewing can be brighter than the butterfly in the photograph or it can be brown, and the spot can be missing altogether - as it was with some of the species I found the other day.

This butterfly is found from the Pacific to the Atlantic, but is more dispersed up and down the Pacific coast, from Alaska to Southern California. In the east, it is a narrower band, extending south into New York State from the Canadian Atlantic provinces.

Its variability, even here in the rural areas outside Ottawa, makes it fun to observe and photograph.

One image was taken last night at 10 PM. The other image was taken at 8 AM this morning. Do you see the one difference? Poor Pumpkin! 😂

Hong Kong Disneyland.

I got so much inspirations when I started to capture the bubbles.

Timing, was out of my control.

I started to realize that,

I cannot control all the things with the same method,

I cannot expect all the outcomes with the same way.

This was the most wonderful inspiration I get from Disneyland@

The difference between the two is startling when they're close together. The Great Egret towers over the Snowy Egret! Lovely birds that look so much alike from a distance but are so startlingly different when seen together.

LIVE!!!

“The only difference between an extraordinary life and an ordinary one is the extraordinary pleasures you find in ordinary things. “ - Veronique Vienne. Although this sunflower pales by comparison the vibrant hello ones we saw, it has it’s own extraordinary beauty. For Sliders Sunday, I kept the tones light with a warm edit and created a bit more blur in the background. Celebrate the simple pleasures.

A large resident owl usually found around rocky places, ledges and rock quarries. These birds prefer these habitats and are often found sitting quietly on one of the ledges or on a tree nearby. The bird - around 50 - 60 cms is one of the larger owls in the country.

Just like other large owls, they are usually found in pairs. But this one was alone in a quarry. And there were dozen's of swallows that were quite unhappy with the Owl and were constantly dive bombing on it. The owl didn't care since they are no danger to it. Several rounds of dive bombing made no difference to the Owl who tracked it a few times, but ignored it entirely - as if saying "You can't touch me".

I suspect that the Owl was making a meal of these Swallows every night since the ledges where the Swallows perch and nest had a lot of white markings indicating Owl droppings.

Thank you for your views, likes and feedback. Much appreciated.

Are we spending too much time infighting politically and forgetting the real global danger to the entire world. Peace and harmony are the only solutions but in order to achieve them we must work endlessly to that goal.

Shouldn't our politicians, news organizations, technology empires and vast corporations get involved in protecting humanity and our environment?

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️
