The geese have flown, ice has arrived, it has been very windy, and snow has poured down through the night.
Both the meteorological office and the local council have been warning of this storm for the last three days. Fortunately around here it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it has been fairly spectacular and there's around 15 cm of snow on our drive.
We went for a walk today (extra) and the wind chill was fierce. It was a bit óf a struggle but I felt it was the right sort of struggle and continued down to the lake. So much soft whiteness!
While we walked a snow plow roared past, and within the next hour it went by another couple of times. We decided to ignore the weather and head into town for our usual Wednesday night at Film Studio.
The film tonight was "Aftersun", a very strange and unusual film. Virtually the whole film is a flashback to a package holiday in Turkey, in the 1990's. I suggest you read the reviews in The Guardian and The Observer (both 5 stars), or Jan's blip, to find out more. As usual with films this good I'd happily watch it again.
Before the film we tried out the new restaurant in town - Curry Masala. When we first lived here our nearest Indian restaurant was in Stockholm, for the last 10 years we've only needed to drive 45 minutes to Sundsvall, and now Indian cuisine has finally reached Härnösand!! It was very good too, with delicious food, helpful friendly staff, and a very pleasant atmosphere. I do hope it thrives!
I spent a lot of time outside today, first walking and then clearing snow. The forecast suggests it's going to get warmer and copious amounts of rain are going to fall, so I guess the snow will be shortlived.

Hamara Station Hamari Shaan is the initiative by Mumbai First and Making a difference (MAD) to beautify 36 railway stations of Mumbai’s Suburban railway system from October 2 to October 8, 2016. The beautification programme Hamara Station Hamari Shaan is a part of voluntary initiative called Daan Utsav, and is being done with the support of Western and Central Railways.
Close to 30,000 citizens from across Mumbai will paint, design and beautify railway stations from Churchgate to Dahisar and from CST to Thane. This initiative has the potential to become the world’s largest citizen funded and citizen sourced initiative.
Upasana society is going to be a part of this massive initiative. We have been given the responsibility of beautifying Jogeshwari railway station.
This initiative would only be successful by participation of volunteers.
