The Inspiration to this Set. I love this shot for the difference between him and the background. Not just the blurred background, but even the colours and point of focus.

Raccoon in top photo is from the east coast of North America while the raccoon in the bottom photo is from the west coast. There definitely seems to be regional differences in appearance to me. Looking at raccoons from Stanley Park (difference of about 40 miles from my place), they look pretty much the same as mine. And all my raccoons look very similar. Wthout any identifying scars, bad eyes or other features, I can't tell who's who.

Raccoons on the east coast look quite different to me & I think anyone looking at these two photos would agree. I can't say if the look of the top raccoon is typical. It's of a raccoon mother who visited Gale's (yeimaya) place & her photo too, of course.

What I've seen that looks different are (I'll use my raccoon to point out differences since she's typical & I don't know if Gale's is).

West coast compared to east coast:

- ears are further apart on top of the head

-ears are less furry

- face looks broader

- less of a ruff around the side of the face

- a bit darker vertical facial streak extending to meet the nose in a solid band (can be seen better in my Water Baby photo) www.flickr.com/photos/judesjewels/7632644222/

I find it hard to quantify what's different exactly but it's like facial recognition - alter a familiar face in some small ways & suddenly, it looks like a different person. It's what I've found when I look at raccoon photos of others here on Flickr. Either they look 'familiar' or they don't. Where raccoons that live in the middle of the continent fit in, I couldn't say.

Has anyone else noticed that raccoons look a little different depending on where they're found? I'd love to know, please!

ColourWheels was one of Vancouver’s most unique and inspiring events for 2010.

The gala evening showcased both visual and performing artists who were brought together by one common thread: spinal cord injury.

ColourWheels provided an exciting opportunity to meet the artists, experience their art forms, and make a difference in the lives of people with spinal cord injury.

Guests had the opportunity to bid on selected pieces and enjoyed fine wines and hors d’oeuvres while being entertained with music.

Funds raised support Rick Hansen Wheels In Motion.

Reconsider cultural difference in online education - discussion presenters: Hsiao-Cheng (Sandrine) Han (SL: Kristy Handrick), University of British Columbia; Kwesi Yaro (SL: Banapeh); Diana Ihnatovych (SL: dianaihn); Jennifer Zhao (SL: JenniferZhao); Peisen Ding (SL: AAADeanAAA) – questions under consideration: Have educators considered online education in relation to students’ cultural differences? Does that even matter? The discussion centred on how and why it is important to consider culture differences in education.

"I establish boundaries which determine both what is collected and where it is collected from. Accumulating and assembling single-coloured objects, I consider the psychological influence of colour, its effect and sensory impact upon the viewer.”

Chroma is the culmination of Manchester artist Liz West’s interests and ideas over a five-year period. This new body of work, site-specific to BLANKSPACE, explores the themes of colour theory, collecting and the exploration of real and illusory space.

West’s playful and magical works, each of which she builds by hand, consist of unexpected and carefully arranged combinations of materials. Systems of ordering, classification and coding are applied in the development and generation of West’s work. She invokes the monumental, whilst utilising commonplace objects that are found and collected from the world around her

An old abbey in Bristol, I didn't make a note of the name of the place.

There are six differences between the photos (not including brightness, contrast) the obvious one is the sky, the question is which one is the original image?

not between me and him, of course - he's too great! - but between the 2 pictures, shot in a half a second temporal distance.

btw he looks so happy for having met me after such a long time =)

Memories of Quinpool, a mural created by Dan Burt in July 2022 for the Halifax Mural Festival in Halifax (Nova Scotia), Canada. The mural painted on the wall of Busan Korean BBQ restaurant at 6311 Quinpool Road is an homage to the history of the Quinpool area, featuring such vanished landmarks as Hogie's Steakhouse, Oxford Theatre and Video Difference, as well as the old school General Motors Metro Transit city buses.

Check it on Black! After a 7 week journey I'm back. Hopefully I can share some beautiful places with my Flickr pals...

Sainsbury Taste the Difference Tap Room IPA

Its 6.3%, 355mls, had an aroma that was cream, toffee and some spice to it.

Again good carbonation and good head, this was a bit better although thin in the mouth. It had a better balance of the malt, some fruitness and spice, but rather light on the bitterness, at least there was some in this beer though.
