This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 17th May 2016 at 20:00. The race is now firmly established on the Leinster road racing calendar with athletes travelling from all over the region to take part. The race has gained a glowing reputation as being one of the fastest 5KM road races in Ireland. It is one of the rare occasions around road racing circles these days where a very small club can organise a very successful large participation race. Today's race had another very large attendance with over 480 participants finishing the race following on from over 400 finishers last year. .
This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC. Na Fianna AC are typical of many rural sporting clubs who have a large catchment area which combines rural North Kildare and South Meath. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport.
The very changeable weather from the entire day made for an unpredictable night weather wise. There were several very heavy torrential showers of rain before the race. The race itself was ran in dry overcast conditions.
This race is part of the annual Meath AAI Road Race League despite the fact that the race is run completely in County Kildare. The current route for the race has stayed the same over the past few years. However previous to that the race was held in Enfield and also Rathmoylan in County Meath. The race starts on the busy Enfield to Endenderry road and this requires a big effort from stewards and marshalls. However, as always, the event was a resounding success with personal bests and great runs from many of the participants. The course is very fast and flat - it is a one loop course which is left-handed in terms of turns.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. This is my contribution to Giant Robot's Biennale 3 held at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles on Sept 22, 2012. Artists were given a Giant Robot vinyl toy along with a Kaiju Uglydoll to customize in any fashion. Drawing upon my affinity for Japanese super robot toys, I decided to pay homage to the characters that I grew up loving so much.
Made with epoxy, polymer clay, metal, plastic, foam and found materials.

Do you know your carpet can trap almost eight times the amount of dirt and allergens as its original weight? Most of the people opt for carpet cleaning in Washington DC not for aesthetic pleasure but to improve the health of their family members as well as protect them from possible allergies and diseases that happen due to dirty carpets.
Common health issues associated with dirty carpets
1) Allergies: When you visit a doctor for an allergy treatment, all he/she does is give you some medications and treat the issue. But they won’t go deeper and try to eradicate the source of allergy. Think about it! If you have allergy from a particular food, don’t you avoid eating it? Why don’t you do that with other forms of allergies? That sinus issue is most likely because of a dirty carpet. Eradicate the underlying cause rather than just focusing on treatment.
2) Respiratory problems: Issue like asthma may be genetic, but they may also get triggered due to pet dander or allergens that settle deep into the carpet fibers. Regular vacuuming is often ineffective on such deeply settled particles that cause such issues. Pet dander is a major concern here in pet-loving population of Washington DC, and you should certainly pay attention if you own pets. Mold in carpets is another significant contributor to respiratory diseases. It’s often a result of improper carpet cleaning.
3) Irritation: Many people may develop eye or skin irritations due to dirty carpets. If you have got some rashes on your skin and you can’t figure out what’s causing it, you should begin with the carpets (as well as the upholstery). These are common contributors to skin and eye irritations.
Symptoms
I have mentioned three main health issues that happen due to dirty carpets. Here’s a compilation of common symptoms that indicate that your carpet is too dirty.
1.Skin irritation
2.Rashes
3.Itchy, watery or red eyes
4.Nausea
5.Migraine
6.Sneezing
7.Nasal congestion
8.The Higher occurrence of infectious diseases likes a common cold than usual.
Solution
If you have discovered that the primary health concern in your family maybe caused due to the carpet, you should quickly call a professional Washington DC carpet cleaning company and get your carpet thoroughly cleaned. Vacuuming may not help much in the beginning for it doesn’t affect the deep-settled particles but once you have got a deep clean, you should develop the habit of regular vacuuming to maintain cleaner carpets for a longer period.
Don’t hire a substandard company in a hurry. It’s about your family’s health, and just like you do your research before consulting a particular doctor, do your research before hiring a carpet cleaning company.

As a contribution to the legacy of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the presidency of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and Europeana wanted to highlight the relevance of digital cultural heritage to the aims of the European Union during the next multiannual framework. During this two day event in Varna on May 28-29, 62 participants from 21 countries explored this together with experts and representatives of ministries of culture across Europe and draft a vision that expresses this contribution in concrete terms. UK geomorphologists have made, and continue to make, substantial contributions to the measurement, understanding and modelling of: the forces and stresses applied to earth surface materials by gravity, moving water, air and ice; the resulting transport of those Earth surface materials; and the real time interactions between processes, sediment transport and changing morphology.

The Bermejo River which originates in the high Andes supplies over 80% of the suspended sediment to the entire La Plata basin. Where the two rivers combine there is a complex interaction - a result of differences in depths, velocities and densities.

Hemel Hempstead - Field Trip - 08/07/13 - National Moth Night contribution
David, Roger and myself made another effort to trap at Gadesprings again, for my contribution to National Moth Night (as I wouldn't be running a trap in my garden until Sunday night)
The weather was perfect, cloudy and mild with just a hint of breeze. Luckily we had almost finished packing up at about 2am before the rain started.
We set up 2 traps from the mains and a further 3 traps about 200 metres along the canal/watercress beds. Two of the traps were placed right next to large outcrops of Butterbur, in the vain attempt to see whether we could get a Butterbur Moth....that never happened! Although we did get a few interesting species at the end of the night.
Olive was a good record. My only records are below

Interestingly all my previous records are from Essex, so this is my first Hertfordshire specimen.
Other moths of note were a Dioryctria, possbly abietella due to its plainess and size (I have set the specimen for further identification), Ypsolopha sequella which I haven't seen for awhile now, and a possible Elachista gleichenella, which to my knowledge is extinct in Herts now. I unfortunately let it go after a few photos which I am kicking myself for doing. It does look spot on for this species and has many more markings than atricomella, alpinella and the rest of the confusion species.

Patients and families had an up close opportunity to see the animals at the L.A. Zoo thanks to Munchkin Inc.
Munchkin, Inc., maker of clever and innovative baby products, was the catalyst for helping the night come to life at the LA Zoo. As the presenting sponsor Munchkin underwrote the cost of the event with a significant gift, dedicated their employee volunteers to help run the evening and, abiding by their motto “it’s the little things”, provided wonderful gift bags full of Munchkin products to every family. Following Munchkin’s generous example, additional funds were raised through donations and sponsorships. These contributions will benefit both Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association.

The 10th annual USG Student Achievement & Leadership Breakfast took place on Friday, April 11, 2014. This event highlights the Academic Achievement Award winners from each undergraduate program at USG and also honors students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service.
Academic Achievement Awards
These awards are presented to one outstanding senior from each undergraduate program offered at USG who has demonstrated academic excellence and achievement. Winners are selected on the basis of grade point average, participation in internships and honor societies and contributions to their program of study. These students are selected by academic program directors.
Student Leadership and Service Awards
These awards are presented to three seniors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, service and dedication to USG and the community at large. Winners are selected on the basis of their participation in extracurricular activities, community service and commitment to their fellow students.

SFC Joe Garcia receives the Army Commendation Medal for his outstanding contributions to One Legion 1st BN, 3rd US INF REG, (The Old Guard) on JBM-HH, August 1, 2017. During his tenure at The Old Guard, SFC Garcia was the Platoon Sergeant of Presidential Salute Battery; Guns Platoon HHC, 1st BN, 3d..., was the NCOIC (Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge) of the S-2 Intelligence Section, was a Public Affairs Representative of One Legion and an administrator of this page, and was the NCOIC of the Presidential Papers Detail which inventoried, packed, and loaded 39.7 million pages of records, 591 terabytes of electronic media, 1 Mil-Air ensured safe and secure transport of 287.5 tons from Washington D.C. to the President Obama Library in Illinois.
