This white cockatoo is distinguished by the red colour splashed around its face and neck. Not too often seen in the Canberra area though this one dropped in to a suburban garden for a snack amongst many Sulphur-crested Cockatoos and Little Corellas.
A pair of tiny 4cm fuchsia buds catch a micro bubble of rain today in our garden, the tiny bubble reflecting the late afternoon light in our garden.

Back in July, West Coast Railways announced that an orange and yellow Class 56 would be rostered to work one of the diesel legs of the Scarborough Spa Express from Carnforth - Scarborough via Skipton. It was an opportunity not to be missed, so I scoured the map for locations and this one cropped up, a few miles from Clapham. Despite a lack of timings between Carnforth and Settle Junction, I had to guess by finding a DMU working and using those times, we ventured down that Thursday morning, then the satnav caused a nightmare by sending us off the M6 a junction early and ended up going along some backroad to miss out Kirkby Lonsdale, despite that hiccup, we managed to get to the location in the nick of time, and before the rain!
Brightening up the place, Colas Rail Class 56, 56087 climbs away from Clapham (North Yorkshire) at Cragg Lane around 08:48 working 1Z21 08:18 Carnforth - Scarborough. WCRC Class 37, 37668 sat behind the loco for both trips, to provide assistance and what I'd assume is brake translation to the Mk1s. It would be replaced by 8F 48151 at York Holgate.

The Government Gardens were so calm and sunny early light this morning. Tbe water lilies were bright pink and made lovely reflections in the still dark water- reminded me of a classic Renoir painting :-)

Here you go. You look like you need some colours to brighten your day. Something to remind you of times, so long ago, when spring and summer actually felt so much warmer than it does this year. Go ahead and dive right in. Oh, and: you're welcome!
=)

My attempt to create a spooky, haunted house kind of shot. I was rather fond of how this turned out.

Much better when viewed in large.

“The usually serene and formal Royal Botanic Garden reveals a surprisingly bold nightlife.
“As darkness falls, the transformation begins: gentle slopes become electric grids, sweeping shafts of light direct attention from the path deep into the foliage. All around patterns and movements dance across the trees; elsewhere bursts of colour splash and dazzle and ripple across the lawns.
“Not so sedate now.”
A few more quick, rough, shot from the hip people watching pics from the snowy Meadows yesterday. Normally I stick to monochrome for my street shots, but it felt better to shoot in colour, perhaps because with the snow everything was a bit too black and white already and the colour splashes were needed, I'm not sure, but I generally just go on gut instinct for street photography.
