12-10-2013 - One of a handful of macaque apes seen on my visit to the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur. This was the best image of the lot (apes) that I obtained - Given the "Colour splash" treatment on the iPhone app.
Week 49.
Challenge: Red.
Well, this week was too easy compared to last week haha. As soon as I saw what the challenge was going to be, I knew exactly what I was going to photograph. Don't you just love weeks like that?
Like everyone else this week, I put my Christmas tree up, I've downsized my tree this year, but for some reason ran out of ornaments for the back of my tree, how that happened, I do not know, so been running around the shops picking up tree ornaments to fill my half dressed Christmas tree, and while I was there I picked up this fellow, I thought he was quite cute, and I do love the Me To You bears. I decided to colour splash him to go with the "red" theme of this week.
Spring is here and thought a flower pic was in order! This is the centre of a red tulip. The red of the main flower was a little overwhelming so a little selective colour removal resulted in a tulip almost unrecognisable as such!
This is the jackstone pier on Aberavon seafront, Port Talbot. I captured this on a longer exposure to give it a slightly tranquil look...
New at here I want to start with this picture from Ioanninas lake, Greece. Colour splash photo by me. I am not a profesional photographer or amature photographer, i like to take photos with my phone or my digital camera, to keep memorys with one click.
Back to Hong Kong here. I love the colour splash effect with black and white photos. It's a great way to highlight a subject in an otherwise busy photo. Some places in the world lend themselves well to it (I first tried it on yellow taxis in New York a few years ago).
I guess it can be cliched, but still, sometimes I enjoy the effect. Here's another shot of a red Hong Kong taxi in the Mid Levels of Hong Kong Island.
Santa is hiding under his lovely colourful Christmas hat!

Fancied having a proper go at colour splashing and saw this idea online. I had the tshirt and the suit so thought I'd take a quick shot to work with. I had the idea to try a few superheroes in transformation which is work in progress
The loco looks like a colour splash in the middle of a grey and empty Washwood Heath - the LDV factory has disappeared in the last few months. 6X01 Scunthorpe - Eastleigh.
Image taken on my delightful day heliskiing with RK Heliski ( www.rkheliski.com/ ), near Panorama, British Columbia, in the Purcell Mountains. It was funny actually, Laura never seemed to mind me going heliskiing for the day, AFTER I had proposed, HAHAHA!
Taken during a lunch break. I noticed this guys goggles offered amazing reflections so asked him to pose for a reflection shot of me and the helicopter. He probably thought I was a nutter!
BEST. SKI. DAY. EVER!!!!
Shot with my old Kodak Z1275 Zoom handheld (couldn't really take my proper camera out today lol). Processing carried out in CS5.
Much better when viewed in large.
