Mama out for a walk with the kids. Shot with a Fuji X100T with a 23mm lens meant I had to get close ... too close. Mama started to hiss and I took that as a hint and backed off.
The scheme's bicycles are popularly known as Boris Bikes, after Boris Johnson, who was the Mayor of London when the scheme was launched.
The operation of the scheme is contracted by Transport for London to Serco. The scheme is sponsored, with Santander UK being the main sponsor from April 2015. Barclays Bank was the first sponsor from 2010 to March 2015, when the service was branded as Barclays Cycle Hire.
Credit for developing and enacting the scheme has been a source of debate. Johnson has taken credit for the plan,although the initial concept was announced by his predecessor Ken Livingstone, during the latter's term in office.Livingstone has said that the programme would herald a "cycling and walking transformation in London" and Johnson said that he "hoped the bikes would become as common as black cabs and red buses in the capital".
A study showed cyclists using the scheme are three times less likely to be injured per trip than cyclists in London as a whole, possibly due to motorists giving cycle hire users more road space than they do other cyclists.Moreover, recent customer research showed that 49 per cent of Barclays Cycle Hire members say that the scheme has prompted them to start cycling in London.
During the 2012 Olympic Games, a record of 47,105 cycle hires were made in a single day.

There is nothing like vibrant, vivid colour splashed across my computer screen early in the morning to wake me up and believe that today will be a beautiful day - my visual senses are invigorated. There are many colourful characters on my contact page each and every day.
I dedicate this particular image to a number of my contacts that bring those rich colours to life regularly on their streams - Crazy Moon, Kevin Povenz, Bryan Hansel, Quik Sink, Christoph Fischer and Chris Busey. Apart from being wonderful photographers, they have a knack for bringing out the intensity of colour which sings. I felt like singing as I strolled along this creek, although the kookaburras were laughing at me ... and yes these are the colours of Autumn downunder :)
Thank you Viviana, Kevin, Bryan, Keiren, Chris and Chris for inspiring me to see the colours again in all their glory.

Fancied having a proper go at colour splashing and saw this idea online. I had the tshirt and the suit so thought I'd take a quick shot to work with. I had the idea to try a few superheroes in transformation which is work in progress

Back to Hong Kong here. I love the colour splash effect with black and white photos. It's a great way to highlight a subject in an otherwise busy photo. Some places in the world lend themselves well to it (I first tried it on yellow taxis in New York a few years ago).
I guess it can be cliched, but still, sometimes I enjoy the effect. Here's another shot of a red Hong Kong taxi in the Mid Levels of Hong Kong Island.
