24 July 2013. Um Maraheik: Students hang out after the class at the secondary school for boys and girls in Um Maraheik, North Darfur.
This school, with 6 classrooms, was built in December 2012 and sponsored by UNAMID DDR (Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration) as part of a Community Based-Labour Intensive Project (CLIP).
Before, the 60 students in this center, all aged 14-17 years, used to travel to El Fasher everyday (25 kilometers away) to receive their education.
However, the school does not have professional teachers yet and it's requesting to be provided with three by the Ministry of Education. Currently, all students (boys and girls) are accommodated together in one classroom and taught by a volunteer teacher.

Preserved Brush Type 2 Class 31 A1A-A1A diesel locomotive 31438 heads a committee meeting at Ongar Station on the heritage Epping Ongar Railway (EOR) in Essex (UK).
31438 was built by Brush at the Falcon Works Loughborough and entered service as British Railways D5557 on October 15th 1959 with withdrawal as British Rail 31438 in September 1995.
Absolutely adore Class 31's. Cut my young trainspotting teeth spotting these at Chelmsford station on the Great Eastern Main Line in the late 1970s.

50032 to 50043 all took the names of various carrier type warships. However HMS Leviathan, which gave its' name to 50040, was not built until 1945, at the very end of WW2, and was never commissioned.
Class 156 Sprinter, 156472 approaches Sutch Lane gated crossing with the 06.45 Manchester Victoria - Southport service on Wed 23rd April 2014.
BR Class 117 Pressed Steel DMU WR set no. B450, Westbury, 9 September 1986. The Railcar Association Website (http://www.railcar.co.uk/his100-109/101ops2.htm) suggests that the centre car of this three-car unit (59539) would have been a Class 101 (Metropolitan-Cammell) TC(L). The set (possibly without 59539) was transferred to Tyseley (Birmingham) in 1987, becoming T315. The car numbering in 1986 would have been: W51352 / 59539 / 51394.
British Rail Class 220 'Voyager' Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) 220030 with the 1V56 07:50 (11:39 1E) Glasgow Central- Plymouth Cross Country Trains service train at York Station on the East Coast Main Line in North Yorkshire (UK).
This train arrived at Plymouth on time at 17:42.
Note the Dellner type coupling system at the front of the train. The Dellner Coupling is a version of the Scharfenberg coupler which connects pneumatics and electronics at the same point of contact.
The energy absorption technology in a Dellner Coupling allows collisions at speeds of up to 9 mph with no structural damage and up to 22 mph with deformation while the carriages remain on track.
York Station along with its wonderful roof was designed by architects Thomas Prosser and William Peachey and was opened in 1877.

Latterly operated by South Eastern, Class 466 'Networker' sets 466009, and 466004 are seen here being taken through Peterborough by 37 800, and are on their way to Newport Docks for scrapping. They were broken up within days.
