Class 47/0 no. 47237 hauls the 5Z42 1034 Bristol Kingsland Road-Southall Depot through Newton St. Loe on the 16th September 2013. This returning empty stock from the sunday excursions from Bristol has often included a steam loco this year so it was nice to get a proper formation in sun on one of the few occasions I have seen it. Rare bird 47237 was a bonus!
DB Class 66 No.66116 passes Pugham Farm,with the 05:23 St Blazey to Taunton RHTT working,on the 15th of November 2021.
Class 76 (EM1) on a westbound coal train in the Longdendale valley on the descent from the Woodhead tunnel towards Manchester from Sheffield.
This pioneering electrification scheme of the former LNER was at 1500v DC, and was started in 1935, though due to WW2, completion was not until 1954 ! The route was closed to passenger traffic in January 1970, and to freight in July 1981.
The first of the class was loaned to the Dutch Railways between 1945 -1952, and was unofficially named 'Tommy', this became an official name in thanks for the help given to NS in their post war rebuild of their network.
76-054 started life in April 1953 as 26054, and was originally named 'Pluto'; the name was removed sometime between 1968/70, and was one of the last in service, not being withdrawn for scrap until July 1981.
All bar one of the Class 76 (formerly EM1) freight locos were scrapped,but their passenger counter-parts, the Class 77 (formerly EM2) locomotives were sold on to the Dutch railways in Septermber 1969 becoming Class 1500. One was used for spares, the remainder entered service in 1970, the last was not withdrawn until june 1986.

Electro-Motive Diesel Inc. Type JT42CWR Class 66 Co-Co diesel locomotive 66536 stabled between duties at the Freightliner refuelling yard and sidings at Ipswich Station on the Great Eastern Main Line in the County of Suffolk (UK).

Heading out of Leeds near Copley Hill is Class 46 46031 (formerly D168) with a Newcastle to Liverpool express. Note the second man is waving !

Preserved English Electric Type 1 'Chopper' Class 20 Bo-Bo diesel locomotive 20205 at Thuxton Station on the Mid Norfolk Railway in Norfolk (UK).
20205 was built at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry Newton le Willows as British Railways Type 1 D8305 in 1967 and withdrawn from service on December 18th 1989.
The English Electric Type 1 Class 20 locomotives were first introduced onto British Railways in 1957.
20205 was guest locomotive at the MNR courtesy of Michael Owen and the Class 20 Locomotive Society.
The Class 45 became the main replacement to steam in the 1960's, especially in the Midlands. The were powerful and fast. They did have reliability issues. Even so, the noise these make do send any Diesel Head into a frenzy. This one was working at East Lancashire Railway this Bank Holiday weekend.

Withdrawn 31/12/81 cut up at Doncaster 09/82 one of it's cabs still exists.
BR (Swindon) 2,700 hp Type 4 (Class '52') 'Western' diesel hydraulic C-C either No.(D)1028 'Western Hussar' or (D)1071 'Western Renown' in BR Rail Blue livery with all yellow front end passing Ealing on a freight, 02/75. A scanned slide taken with an Exacta.
Two new class 92's in store at Crewe Electric depot awaiting major modifications to there electrical systems before they could enter service.
Brand newish British Rail Class 345 'Aventra' 9 car EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) 345035 working a Paddington Crossrail- Gidea Park test run train northbound at Stratford Station on the Great Eastern Main Line in East London (UK).
The Class 345 EMU's will be used on the new TfL Rail 'Crossrail' Elizabeth Line when it eventually opens..

Class 55 Deltic
It stands in the museum building Ribble Steam Railway in Preston.
Not far from here where the picture was taken.It is a building where In the 50s Deltic was created.
The building still exists and functions, but without the construction of trains.

Preserved British Rail Class 205 'Thumper' 2 car Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) 205205 in Network SouthEast livery at Ongar Station on the heritage Epping Ongar Railway (EOR) in the County of Essex (UK).
205205 entered service as British Railways 2H 60110/60810 in September 1957 and withdrawn from traffic by Connex South Eastern on July 23rd 2004.

On 1 July 2014, 156485 leaves Gretna Green on the 1912 Glasgow Central - Carlisle. The old station building can be seen on the left, in front of the bridge.
Class 40, 345 (40145) powers up the bank towards Darwen, Lancashire with 57315 bringing up the rear of the train. The service is 1Z28 Carnforth - Castleton Hopwood Ground Frame.

Chiltern Railways Class 168 No.168215 passes a misty Cropedy,with the 09:11 Birmingham Snow Hill to London Marylebone service,on the 6th of March 2024.
BR Standard Class 45212 and 45157 (aka 45407). Lovely cold bright morning at Tulloch station as the Black 5's wait for clearance to proceed south to Corrour and across Rannoch Moor. The Jacobite season ended on the 26th and the locos were moved south a day later. Nice small station just 30 minutes from our house.
The nameplate and explanatory plaque of 926 'Repton', an example of the 4-4-0 Schools (or V) Class locomotives designed in 1930 by Richard Maunsell for the Southern Railway. The venue is Levisham station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the service the 16.00 Pickering-Whitby. @16.44
55 year old English Electric Type 3 Class 37 Co-Co diesel locomotive 37669 as operated by the West Coast Railway Company working the 1Z61 09:17 (10:37 3E) Highbury and Islington- Sizewell B Power Station Charity Railtours 'The Mayflower' excursion (in aid of Macmillan cancer support) approaching Hatfield Peverel Station on the Great Eastern Main Line in Essex (UK) on April 14th 2018.
Along for the ride at the back as rear gunner is preserved Class 47 diesel locomotive 47580 'County of Essex'.
37669 was built at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry Newton le Willows and entered service as D6829 on March 20th 1963.
The originally booked steam locomotive, LNER Class B1 61306 'Mayflower' was prevented by Network Rail from hauling this excursion train due a loading gauge issue much to the disappointment of many.
