Two of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen 60 strong 1100 class locomotives which date from 1950 and were based upon the SNCF Class BB 8100 design, they were extensively rebuilt between 1978 and 1982.
They operated on both freight and passenger turns and were the NS main locomotive until the arrival of Class 1600's.
Unfortunately they were very unpopular to a point of being downright hated by the drivers for a number of reasons, and they were paid a special bonus for driving them.
Here 1109 and 1111 stand at the buffer stops near to Zwolle station, the last of the class was withdrawn in 1999, although many were out of service before then.

Brand newish British Rail Class 755 4 car diesel electric Bi-Mode Multiple Unit (BMU) 755404 as operated by Greater Anglia ready to run a service train to London Stansted Airport at Norwich Station in the County of Norfolk (UK).
The Class 755 BMU's were a direct replacement from 2019 for the ancient Class 156 'Sprinter' DMU trains that operated on rural Greater Anglia secondary lines.
755404 was built for Greater Anglia by Stadler Rail at their facility in Bussnang Switzerland as one of the Stadler 'FLIRT' (Fast Light Intercity and Regional Train) modular family of trainsets.
The Class 755 bi-mode units should not be confused with the almost identical looking Stadler Rail 'FLIRT' Class 745 Electric (only) Multiple Units which are also operated by Greater Anglia.
Note the Dellner type coupling system in the big ugly hole at the front of the train. The Dellner Coupling is a version of the Scharfenberg coupler which connects pneumatics and electronics at the same point of contact.
Greater Anglia had an option to have a cover fitted in these coupling holes by Stadler but declined for cost and ease of maintenance reasons.

After my visit to the car cemetery, I had a few hours to kill before it was getting dark.
Pedal to the metal for another 230 km to visit an abandoned school were the walls are literally crumbling down.
Not much more information about the history of this place, besides there were 2 escaped prisoners that hijacked a few guards in this school. Don't know if they survived.....

Freightliner Class 66 No.66518 climbs Whiteball, with the 08:26 Totnes to Fairwater Yard HOBC working,on the 14th of August 2022.
Built by BREL York Works in 1971, the Prototype Electro Pneumatic (PEP) vehicles, formed into two 4-car Class 445 and one 2-car Class 446 sets, were the grounding for many new EMU classes. After operating in passenger service for a few years, they entered departmental service as traction development sets. I photographed one of the Class 445s from beyond the boundary at Wimbledon Depot c1980. At this time, it was numbered 935 056 in the deparmental series (but may not have carried this number) and the livery comprised a dark grey upper body with red and blue bands swooping up at the end. That image has long since go, so I’ve adapted a low-quality copy of a monochrome original from Colin J Marsden, which has been used under the fair used provisions of copyright law (22-Nov-25).

Five of these things were built for the Stansted Express in 1990. Since then they have been all over the place. This one was running on the Southminster branch for Greater Anglia. Or at least it was in the morning - later it was replaced by a class 321.
