Preserved British Rail Type 2 Class 25 diesel locomotive 25057 at Weybourne Locomotive, Carriage Maintenance and Restoration Centre on the North Norfolk Railway (UK).

25057 was built at Derby Works as British Railways Type 2 D5207 in 1963 and was withdrawn from traffic on March 15th 1987.

Despite numerous visits to the NNR over the years, I've yet to see or hear the forlorn 25057 in action which is very disappointing.

Having had a day on the Spa Valley Railway travelling behind preserved Electro-Diesel 73 140, I spotted on Real Time Trains that Tonbridge based Snow & Ice Treatment Train working 3Y90 was top and tailed by 'EDs' 73 109 and 73 213. These locomotives started operating in 1966 and have provided excellent service over the years. 3Y90 was booked for an hour or so break at East Grinstead, so I took the opportunity to head down and get a few shots to complete a pleasant day with both operational and preserved class 73 locomotives.

GBRf operated 73 109 'Battle of Britain 80th Anniversary' sits in platform 2 at East Grinstead, having arrived on the front of working 3Y90. The train having run to the very end of the platform for the train crew to make use of the station footbridge.

Photograped during a Virgin America flight from SFO to Las Vegas almost two years ago. The First Class cabin was completely empty.

Since the connecting rods don't extend to the front driving wheels, I had problems with the wheels not turning properly. I would've tried using gears between the axles, but they're 5.5 studs apart.

So I tried a simple suspension system, and it seems to have fixed it. The technic liftarms swing and allow the axle to drop down by a small amount, so they always rest of the track.

*Update* The loco now has custom rods connecting the front driving wheels, so the suspension system has been removed.

Brand newish British Rail Class 755 4 car diesel electric Bi-Mode Multiple Unit (BMU) 755404 as operated by Greater Anglia ready to run a service train to London Stansted Airport at Norwich Station in the County of Norfolk (UK).

The Class 755 BMU's were a direct replacement from 2019 for the ancient Class 156 'Sprinter' DMU trains that operated on rural Greater Anglia secondary lines.

755404 was built for Greater Anglia by Stadler Rail at their facility in Bussnang Switzerland as one of the Stadler 'FLIRT' (Fast Light Intercity and Regional Train) modular family of trainsets.

The Class 755 bi-mode units should not be confused with the almost identical looking Stadler Rail 'FLIRT' Class 745 Electric (only) Multiple Units which are also operated by Greater Anglia.

Note the Dellner type coupling system in the big ugly hole at the front of the train. The Dellner Coupling is a version of the Scharfenberg coupler which connects pneumatics and electronics at the same point of contact.

Greater Anglia had an option to have a cover fitted in these coupling holes by Stadler but declined for cost and ease of maintenance reasons.

After showing the image on other internet sites I have been advised this is a Swindon built example but no one has come forward with a definite identification.

This pic is one of many photographs I've purchased for mere pennies or sometimes a few pounds over the years via different internet auction sites.

These pics have no copyright stamp etc so after spending some time cleaning the images up I now feel it is time to show them and not let the collection just hide away.

At the time of posting the original photographer is unknown.

If the picture is yours then please contact and I will remove ASAP.
