An iconic shot of one of the most famous monuments in the Belgian capital, Brussels. Line 6 of the metro passes right outside between the Heysel and Houba-Brugmann stops, offering a brief glimpse of the Atomium. Opened in 1958 for EXPO 58, the Atomium reproduces nine atoms of a unit cell of an iron crystal enlarged 165 billion times. It consists of nine spheres with a diameter of 18 metres, connected by tubes with a diameter of 3.5 metres, and the entire structure is 102 metres high. The Atomium was renovated and modernised between 2004 and 2006. For the new inauguration, Belgium issued a commemorative 2 Euro coin depicting the Atomium. Today, the structure is one of the most famous monuments in Brussels and hosts all kinds of events. Metro line 6, operated by STIB, is shaped like the number 6 and connects the Roi Baudoin and Elisabeth stations. It is 15.5 km long, has 26 stops, and the total journey time is 30 minutes.

(EN) The railcar 713 118 is just entering Visnja Gora station as an afternoon RegioExpress 609 from Ljubljana to Novo Mesto. In the station there is already a passenger train in the opposite direction waiting for the crossing with the RG. The DMU appeared freshly repainted because he received an overhaul in Ptuj works almost two months ago. On the left you can see St. Anna’s church.
(DE) Der Triebwagen 713 118 fährt gerade als nachmittäglicher RegioExpress 609 von Ljubljana nach Novo Mesto in den Bahnhof von Visnja Gora ein, wo bereits ein Personenzug in der Gegenrichtung auf die Kreuzung mit dem RG wartet. Der VT präsentiert sich im Neulack, da er vor knappen zwei Monaten in der Werkstätte von Ptuj eine Hauptausbesserung erhielt. Links zu sehen ist die Kirche der Hl. Anna.
CFL: as part of celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the railway in Luxembourg, the weekend of 9 and 10 May was organized an international exhibition of rolling stock in Luxembourg Gare deposit. During both days, a shuttle train with steam locomotives linked the station with the deposit.
The 4-6-0 steam locomotive 64.169 was bult by Henschel in 1921 (works number 18939) for the Romanian railways, where he was numbered 230.084. In 2001 was acquired by the Belgian association Patrimoine Ferroviaire et Tourisme/Toerisme en SpoorPatrimonium (PFT/TSP) and it was put back into service in 2007. The current number is located below the series of P8 Prussian locomotives of Belgian Railways SNCB (64.001 – 61.168).

The Aigle-Le Sépey-Les Diablerets meter-gauge line, now part of the Transports Publics du Chablais (TPC), crosses Aigle town-center on secondary streets and then passes Le Cloître neighborhood, visible on the left, before arriving at Aigle-Dépôt station, where the former maintenance facilities of the ASD are located. BDe4/4 404 as regional train towards Les Diablerets is about to arrive at this stop, nicely placed in the Aigle vineyards; June 17, 2017.
Illuminated by the setting sun BRITOMART an 0-4-0 Hunslet tank locomotive built in 1899 for Pen-yr-orsedd Quarry seen shunting at Boston Lodge works in the late afternoon of November 17.

SNCF: a suburban train passes through Clichy-Levallois, on the way to Paris-Saint-Lazare. It is formed by the electric locomotive BB 17035, and a reversible set of six double-decker cars of the VB2N type.
The Class BB 17000 consisted of 105 electric locomotives for passenger trains on alternating current lines (25 kV). They were built by Alsthom and put into service between 1965 and 1968. In April 2019, five locomotives were still in service.

So gelang auch eine Aufnahme von der 2044 002 an der Spitze des Zuges, hier zu sehen am Abend des 29.06.2015. kurz vor der Einfahrt in den Bahnhof von Zabok.
A winter scene as SNCF Fret Vossloh GA 1000 AS Bo-Bo diesel 46011 comes off the River Oise bridge on the branch from Soissons with a short tank train just after 09.00 am.
The dreaded Buddlea growth is much less in France than in the UK but on this freight-only branch it is taking root on the bridge. Must bring my cutters next time!
I had seen this train the day before but didn't have a camera so this morning I returned although I had no idea whether the working was daily or a one off. Fortunately it arrived only about 10 minutes later than yesterday.

Het is met 926 vierkante kilometer het grootste eiland van Duitsland: Rügen. Vanaf 1896 kende het eiland een uitgebreid netwerk van smalspoorlijnen dat werd geëxploiteerd door Rügensche Kleinbahn (RüKB). Nadat eerst in 1895 het traject Putbus - Binz was geopend, volgde een jaar later verschillende andere trajecten op het eiland, waaronder het traject van Altefähr naar Putbus. In Altefähr was er aansluiting op de veerboot vanuit Stralsund, Stralsund ligt op het vasteland en vormt ook heden ten dage nog de toegang tot Rügen. Tegenwoordig gaat de reis naar Rügen niet meer met de veerboot, maar over de ruim 1 kilometer lange ‘Rügendamm’.
Het interbellum vormde de gloriejaren van de RüKB. In die periode vervoerde het spoorbedrijf jaarlijks rond de 300.000 reizigers en rond 175.000 ton aan goederen. Na de tweede wereldoorlog werden de spoorlijnen op Rügen - net als elders in de DDR - aan de Deutsche Reichsbahn toebedeeld. In de jaren ’60 kwam ook hier de klad in het goederenvervoer vanwege de opkomst van de vrachtauto. Eind van de jaren ’70 viel dan ook het doek voor een groot aantal spoortrajecten op Rügen. Wat overbleef was waar het op het eiland ooit mee begonnen was: het traject van Putbus richting Binz.
Tegenwoordig wordt er het gehele jaar op het 24 lange traject van Putbus via Binz naar de populaire badplaats Göhren gereden. In het drukke zomerseizoen wordt er vaker gereden dan tijdens de wintermaanden. De exploitatie wordt verzorgd door inmiddels fors op leeftijd gekomen stoomlocomotieven en rijtuigen, waarvan een groot deel bijna een eeuw oud is.
De foto toont de combinatie van de zeer fraai ontworpen locomotief 99 4802 met eveneens vijf fraaie rijtuigen. De locomotief is in 1938 door de firma Henschel & Sohn uit Kassel aan de ‘Kleinbahnen des Kreises Jerichow’ afgeleverd. In 1965 kwam de locomotief - samen met zusterlocomotief 99 4801 - naar Rügen. Achter de locomotief hangen vijf vier-assige rijtuigen, getooid in de klassieke livrei van de Deutsche Reichsbahn. Vanwege het toenemende verkeer naar de badplaatsen, werden deze rijtuigen vanaf 1911 door de RüKB aangeschaft.
De foto toont de trein in de omgeving van het buurtschap Nistelitz. Wat winterse neerslag betreft liet Koning Winter het al een paar dagen afweten; slechts enkele laatste sneeuwresten liggen nog in het weiland. Koning Winter bezorgde echter wél die dag temperaturen van rond het vriespunt met een fijne stoomontwikkeling tot gevolg.

(EN) After four other locomotives of the same series, 018, 024, 026 and 038 were active for a short time on freight services in Varazdin area, with the 2062 019 already the fifth locomotive in the new color scheme was used on this route. Les matériels invités à la Fête de la Vapeur 2016
RD16396. Built in 1937 specifically for excursion traffic, this is a beautifully restored Collett Excursion 3rd. The interior of this vehicle still has its original 1930s Art Deco styling and it is popular with visitors on open days when it sees use on the demonstration line.
