My new railway track for the many railway models I find myself building. It has third rail electrification and realistic treated wood sleepers.

YLA and RRA buffer detail.

This shows the spring behind the end buffers - this absorbs the force of a collision (hopefully intentional!) and allows for absorbing forces whilst on the move when connected to a locomotive.

Buffer stops at Baker Street Station.

Do these really serve any effective purpose in this condition? Cf my shot of the stops at Crewe the same day.

This person was driving impatiently behind me in the buffered lane. When I stopped to take their photo they figured out what was going on and merged back left. Note the green merging area for cars to cross the buffered lane into a right turn lane -- there are a few of these along the course.

If you didn't see these buffer stops (which is very unlikely!) you could finish up in the entrance lock. The strange objects at the base of the left buffer stop are plastic dragon heads for use in dragon boat racing.

The beginning of the Stark St. buffered lane is at the new Zoobomb Pyle at SW 14th. Note the truck unloading in the parking zone without blocking the bike lane (I noticed this was often a problem on NYC's similar infrastructure). Also note the auxiliary Zoobomb pyle at the bike staple next to the monument.

I was bored and took this shot of a buffer collar whilst on the move somewhere near between Law Jn and Wishaw.

Much to my surprise the train ground to a halt just west of Maple Ave, a strange place to stop since it blocked all the crossings in downtown Downers. Aha, maybe they were dropping off a crew for an eastbound parked just west of Forest Ave. I sure hoped so; quite frankly the wind and cold were rapidly reducing my enthusiasm for the day.

The railways south of Bradford Exchange were a spider web of mainlines , branch lines and goods routes, serving Leeds, Lancashire and also the suburbs of Queensbury and Laisterdyke. A spur existed, connecting the GNR line from Leeds/York to the Manchester LYR route, between Laisterdyke and Bowling junction, bypassing the city altogether. The line was closed in the 1970s, severed at the eastern end - only overgrown sidings now survive. Though mostly since developed across, the spur remains intact atop a high embankment. The remains of a level crossing can be found at Hall Lane, close to Bowling Junction whilst a length of track and buffers survive in situ at the Laisterdyke end. . Bowling station, an intermediate passenger stop was closed in the 1890s, has long since been demolished.

The buffer in all its glory bathed in light from battle lanterns overhead. I've got more time than I care to remember behind this machine but for some unknown reason I kind of liked the thing.

They haven't removed these yet. But the rails are gone. This is a pair of buffer stops in Moor Street Station.

A rancher can utilize a riparian buffer in order to provide clean water and lush vegetation during select grazing periods.

Buffers help:

Slow water runoff

Trap sediment and dust

Trap fertilizers and pesticides

Protect wildlife and livestock from harsh weather

Reduce winds, noise and odors

Provide food, nesting cover and shelter for many wildlife species

Increase privacy and beautify the countryside

A bumpy start to my circuit. As soon as I turned off of the Naito bike lane onto the Oak St buffered lane, two cars followed me. When I stopped and began taking pictures, they pulled into the left lane to pass me. One immediately pulled back into the bike lane ahead of me...
