A 'macro' shot of bubbles that I've been wanting to do for a while.
I filled a clear plastic salad bowl with water, then added some dish soap and blew air into it with a straw to get the bubbles.
I've got a flash with a red gel on the right side and blue gel on the left to split the colors. Trying to get the proper settings with the flashes and the camera took a lot of work in order to get the color just right with the proper intensity.
In the end, I was happy with the way it turned out.

This bubble caught a downdraft wind and was just inches from popping in the grass. Also the reverse image is missing since the shot is not evenly straight on.
I scored a free Lush bubble bar from the lounge of the place that occasionally employs me. When I used it, it smelled nice and made lots of bubbles, but it turned the water this lovely shade of I-just-peed-in-the-bathwater-multiple-times yellow.

Bubble Ben, Northampton, MA

Have you run into Bubble Ben on the streets of Northampton yet? We love him! Kids love him! What's not to love? He's Bubble Ben! Every time we've crossed paths with him, he's been between Thornes Market and the parking garage, making humongo bubbles that splatter about an eighth of a cup of soap on kids running and jumping to catch and pop them.
What takes place during these episodes is a classic case of Instant Karma: beautiful glistening bubbles billow out of Ben's bubble lasso as the wind catches them and gently lifts them up and across the promenade, carrying flirtatious thoughts of lazy summer days... only to be chased down by kids with fingers sticky from Herrells' ice cream, leaping and jumping at them in an attempt to slap and poke at their delicate buoyancy. And when successful, soap rains down on them, into their eyes and hair... and they stop briefly to poke those sticky fingers in their eyes that now burn - a bubbles revenge... and when they recover they do it again and again. All patiently choreographed by Ben. Parent's giving him tips for this dance... It's like they are saying thank you for entertaining my child for these past five minutes AND for also pre-soaking them in preparation for their evening bath!
