Just trying out various border effects. I couldn't help having another attempt at 'bubbles' this time with engine (motor) oil, water and colour provided by a cardboard box and pink tissue paper placed under the glass jar! .... something different I guess! Please check out the large scale.
This is from a session a while ago. I was using a macro lens and each image is about the size of my pinky nail. I love the infinite variation and satisfying color contrast.
Blowing bubbles in the back yard, the light was perfect to catch sun sparkles, and a reflection of Kieran in the bubble as it dreamily floated away.
No stacking or processing here, just an example of stuff that happens when imaging. Here you have a single exposure of M82, M81 and M51 all in the same image, M81 and M82 are together in the sky at the tip of the bowl of the big dipper and M51 is at the end of the handle, so how are they in the same image? Well I was taking a series of images on M81 and M82 and then moved to M51 without telling my camera to stop imaging so it moved to M51 and finished the exposure and so here you have an image of all three!

Have you run into Bubble Ben on the streets of Northampton yet? We love him! Kids love him! What's not to love? He's Bubble Ben! Every time we've crossed paths with him, he's been between Thornes Market and the parking garage, making humongo bubbles that splatter about an eighth of a cup of soap on kids running and jumping to catch and pop them.
What takes place during these episodes is a classic case of Instant Karma: beautiful glistening bubbles billow out of Ben's bubble lasso as the wind catches them and gently lifts them up and across the promenade, carrying flirtatious thoughts of lazy summer days... only to be chased down by kids with fingers sticky from Herrells' ice cream, leaping and jumping at them in an attempt to slap and poke at their delicate buoyancy. And when successful, soap rains down on them, into their eyes and hair... and they stop briefly to poke those sticky fingers in their eyes that now burn - a bubbles revenge... and when they recover they do it again and again. All patiently choreographed by Ben. Parent's giving him tips for this dance... It's like they are saying thank you for entertaining my child for these past five minutes AND for also pre-soaking them in preparation for their evening bath!

Bubbles! Well, some of the shots are bubbles. Most are actually. Some of them are several shots overlaid because I couldn't tell if I got enough bubbles in the shot. Can you really have too many bubbles? I think not.
