I have recently joined the team at the awesome and revamped BrickNerd (bricknerd.com) site to contribute Train themed content. BrickNerd curates a variety of AFOL content with the emphasis on the builders, their MOCs, and their stories. It strives to dig deeper behind the scenes and give us a personal perspective on our community.
I was intimidated by the tradition at BrickNerd to make a brick Headz representation of ourselves in the typical "nerdy" glasses "branding" we all know and love. Given my role to represent the Train theme, it was obvious to me mash-up Headz with Trains!
The LEGO Train theme has no shortage of visually striking and iconic models over its history. Therefore, I chose both the 7740 12V locomotive and the 4458 9V Metroliner as my starting points. Distilling these models into a 6x6 stud footprint whilst incorporating the "nerd" glasses and top studs was more challenging that I expected. In any case, I like a challenge, and these charming character builds were good fun!
The songs of eons past tell of battles between Nerdalore the Great and an order of sphere throwers called Jocki, how he humiliated the Cult of Chee’r Lee-dar, and won the heart of the Princess of Geek’vin.
The bosses said not a Star Wars contest. But with a title of “Nerdly Strikes Back” no way I could resist! Build a nerdly! Win awesome prizes! Check out the details at bricknerd.com/home/nerdly-strikes-back-contest-5-2021 and www.flickr.com/groups/14775115@N23/
THIS IS THE NERDLY WAY!
Here's my LEGO version of the Episode VI original poster. It was a great challenge but I'm pretty happy with the result.
Mrs Foutch
A close-up of the EB1/2 type electric slug of the Prussian state railroad in LEGO.
EB1 and 2 were manufactured by AEG in 1914; they consisted basically of the running gear and motor of an EG511-class electric locomotive, adapted for remote operation by a control car.
My model is unpowered, but the two clear headlights are fully functional. Note that the third headlight back then was not used as such, but for signaling purposes. For example, a green light as shown above would indicate an unscheduled train following.
For more details on the concept behind the 1914 Prussian demonstrator trains, see here.
For the RogueOlympics on www.RogeuBricks.de I built a camera with only 101 parts, which you can find on my stream.
I liked this first 101 parts MOC so much, that I decided to build it again - but then without part limit.
The camera itself is only build with LEGO parts and, the Nintendo set tiles fitting perfectly for the screen on the backside. Also the objektive is brick build in this one.
Seeing LegoWyrm's recent Cyberpunk Edgerunner chibi figures inspired me to finally try building some chibi figures for myself... especially as he was so kind to share building instructions. They provided me with a great starting point, and I definitely learned a lot about how his characters come to life.
His "frame" is a little larger scale that the original standard that MikeVD came up with, and it was interesting to compare (I think mine here falls somewhere in between the two). I know that MikeVD has already build chibi versions of Chisato and Takina from LycoReco himself, so looking forward to comparing them (I already know that the parts he used for the leather bags were perfection)... and if you haven't watched the anime series "Lycoris Recoil" yet, it is a must watch.
I also plan to interview both Mike and Javier about their chibi figures in an upcoming article for BrickNerd and I'm looking forward to learning more about how they have developed and refined their signature chibi building styles.
In 2 years I have uploaded 65 different LEGO creations presented in 323 photos.
789 people are following me and i follow 419 people.
My creations was published 7 times on The Brother Brick, 6 times on BrickNerd and 1 time on Brick Time.
One creation (LEGO Arm) went viral and saw the world beyond Flickr and Facebook :D
I would like to thank all my followers for every favorite and nice comment left on my creations.
Cheers all!
One of my favorite comic books is Batman/The Flash: The Button. It’s story plus it’s Watchmen tie-in/continuation make it one of the best.

This is the moment where Reverse Flash initially attacks Batman in the Batcave after memories of Flashpoint were returned to him.
Time to sum up another year of Lego building! Went down a bit in productivity this year but still managed 33 builds so pretty happy with that. Had so much fun this year, going to Skaerbaek, writing for BrickNerd, taking part in some great challenges like Summer joust and Brickscalibur to name a few. Thanks a lot to everyone that followed me, faved, commented and all that stuff, I really appreciate it. Got some more builds that I need to photograph so hopefully I´ll be able to get that productivity back up a notch next year ;)
Thanks again everyone!
The mighty Cluckaneers sail the seas. Their egg and crossbones flag striking fear into all who see it. Watch out, because these birds play fowl.
This MOC has many details from the (egg) cannons to the c̶r̶o̶w̶'̶s̶ (chicken's) nest at the top of the mast.
This LEGO MOC was made for the Pi-RATS and BUG-aneers contest by BrickNerd.
A perfectly swooshable sky schooner captained by a ruthless cyborg dog. Armed to the teeth with modern weaponry, like plasma cannons and flintlock lasers. Everything is powered by the massive solar sails that propels the ship to oncoming prey.

Last summer I finally modified that MOC into ED-209 proper.

What would the year be without a wrap-up poster?
Though this year didn't go all too well for me in terms of competitions (I had a somewhat miserable run in the 2017 Tourney and placed third in Round 2.4 of the ABS Challenge), it still went rather well for me. :) A few highlights of the year include the blogging of In Memory of by TBB and my repost of Tahitian Rail by BrickNerd as well as a double blogging! (still amazed that this happened) of Lady Carenina by both TBB and BrickNerd. In addition, four of my posts this year reached over 100 faves, which is pretty incredible and not something I could have envisioned last year.
I also had the pleasure of teaming up with some pretty great people for the castle collaboration category of the Summer Joust and competing in the aforementioned round of the ABS Builder Challenge against some more pretty awesome people.
To keep up with my lowered capacity to produce new material, brought on by an increase in school work, I began re-editing and re-posting some older work this year. I've unfortunately run out of older work to re-post, so the drop in my activity for next year will be considerable. However, I will keep building when I can. I have no concrete plans for upcoming builds, but there may be another edition of Technique Week coming this summer. ;)
Something I do have planned, though, is judging next year's Tourney! Round 1 of the 2018 Tourney begins this Sunday, the 31st of December. You'll have two full weeks to build an entry, so go sign up!

Andrea's Cyber Boutique 🌅🏡
Back in December, I got an advance review copy of 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion and published two articles on BrickNerd in January doing a review and remix of the set turning it into a New Hashima cube. While I completed enough of my cube for the articles at the time, I still had a lot of work to do before it was show ready. I put on the finishing touches with not a moment to lose and displayed it at Atlanta Brick Con in February.
My MOC’d out version pays large homage to the original designed by Wes Talbott while diverging in its own unique direction. Components like the palm trees, the koi pond, the gradient, the ribbed wall look, and a lot of the subcomponents are directly lifted (the piano, the couch, the table and chairs). Playing with the new reddish orange was so fun and I really enjoyed recreating the minidolls in minifigure form. I'll be posting more detail shots on Thursday.

Andor is (IMO) the best thing that happened to Star Wars in years… so, this is where I went to search for ideas when trying to come up with a model that would not be a repeat of something that has been done a million time before. (Seriously, building anything original in the Star Wars universe is near-impossible)
Anyway, this unremarkable hunk of junk of a speeder is featured for about 20 seconds in the episode 3 of Andor season 1… it is cleverly used as a decoy before being blown to bits by Cassian and Luthen as they flee the imperials on planet Ferrix. A great scene.
This build was also the opportunity for me to use my heavily discolored grey bricks… I love doing that, some of these elements are easily 35 years old… And I think they look great in this context!
Here is a video presentation of the MOC:

Have you heard of Captain Ducky and the Rubber Duccaneers?!
They may seem to have a bubbly disposition,
but I tell ya; they're sudding up the seven seas!
And aye, you may think they be cute; and that I'm all lathered up 'bout nothing, but hear me out.
You seen the foam that rolls upon shore? That their be doin! Their cannons fire freaking fizzy bath bombs!! Everything they do, turns the oceans into tub water.
You'll see'm sailing in a white alabaster flock of schooners.
They duck every shot fired, and ya can't sink em... cause they already be waterlogged!
A buncha tubs full of tubby wise quackers, whose squeaks and wheezes never cease.
Their victory is assured, and conditioner simple. 'Wash, rinse, and repeat.' They never throw in the towel, and fight ya till your skin's all pruney and wrinkled.
In the end, their battle cry will be the last thing ya hear before they lay ye down to rest.

A challenge from my friends to use 2 train railroads in a moc.
Since I'm planning to make my first spaceship moc, then why not to use it as wings :)
Well here it is, the Space Eagle.
The wing span can transform to different form for Flight Mode, Defense Mode, Offense Mode, Dog Fight Mode, Speed/Chasing Mode (over imagination I guess...wkwkwk)

Just realised BrickNerd's Nerdvember contest allows you to enter as many times as you like.. so I thought there was just enough time for me to do some last minute entries!
I've been wanting to use those car mud flap pieces on a cloud car's engines ever since I saw they were available in red. And since the contest theme was 80's and the BrickNerd is logo is red I thought why not?
Behold, the Bricknerd Headquarters, in all of its Nerdly glory! This two story modern construction features an office, extensive lego wall, in-house studio, kitchenette, wall space for plenty of movie posters, twin balconies, and a top secret Nerdly cloning chamber. (Baby Nerdly based on the design of Geneva/Kai NRG).
When this contest was announced I almost immediately came up with the name pun, (Modular & Nerdly = Nerdular), then the idea for the glasses as balconies. After that I just kind of threw stuff together till I figured out things that worked. Building a modular is a new experience for me, having never built any of the sets even, but I enjoyed this build, despite it feeling too simplistic in places. The studio area is obviously based on the classic backdrop that Tommy would appear against in the original Bricknerd content.
If you want to look at all of the interior details that I didn't have time to render a good shot of, the 3D view on mecabricks can be opened in the workshop, and the floors are easily grouped.

I took a stab at an alternate model for my latest post on BrickNerd. Used two copies of the set 31114 Superbike. Hope you enjoy!

Awhile back I was thinking about what I might like to display alongside the Wasp Wing Table Lamp I built last summer, and the idea came to me to build hard cover books with Art Nouveau inspired cover art. The idea was also inspired by the paperback novel covers that Shannon Sproule has built.
These are the first three of them, and I am still working on one more.
Help the daring Pigrates, led by Captain Por K. Chop to rescue their crew member from a grisly fate at the hands of the Imperial Drones, led by Govedrone Stash! The Imperial outpost features a working meat grinder, accessible walls, and a removable roof. The island also features a hidden treasure inside the rocks near the dock. Comes with 7 minifigures and 933 pieces.
This is my entry for pi-RATS & BUG-aneers run by Bricknerd, and I had a lot of fun with the concept, although I would've liked to spend more time doing a more rocky island. All parts are used in existing colors.
