For The Bricknerd Pirats and Buganeers contest - CREW

This Motley crew of Ne'er do wells were assembled by Captain Elrissa Leon - A lioness.

(3rd from the right) They sail the seas off the Chima Peninsula. Having forsaken their various tribes, they now prey on anyone foolish enough to come close to their frigate.

Left to Right

Rex - ships dogsbody! A fearsome fighter with a bite first ask questions later attitude. A more scurvy sea dog you'll not find.

"Powder" Ships Gunner and master of cannons don't mention brass monkeys to him...

Osmando Stretch -First Mate - opulently wealthy - a coward - who knew burying your head in the sand could be so useful for a pirate....

Crabby Jack - Has a complex about being a little shrimp but a cunning spy - he talks with the other sea creatures and shares info with the captain using claw Morse code clicks. always alert and has so far avoided Reza's cooking pot!

Captain Elrissa Leon - Cast out for her view on how she could run the tribe far better, ruthless and cunning - she has united all the creatures of Chima who don't fit in and they scour the seas searching for booty and do as they please!

Albert Greenscail - Ships Navi-gator - knows the oceans and inland waterways and bays like the back of his hand. A keen cartographer and marine biologist. a gentle soul despite his fearsome visage

Reza Scally - Ships cook and born survivalist - unpopular even among the Ratfolk of the Undercaves, he can make a meal out of literally anything... Whether you would want to eat it or not is another thing... Known to abandon ship prematurely on more than one occasion.

Tried to make this as accurate as possible to the Queen Anne's Revenge, enjoy(sadly I don't have LEGO's sails for this...). But it is purist.

Wake up my little Schwülspinne,

Open up your eye.

The Mercs want to surrender,

But, I'd rather watch them die.

Happy MaKtoberfest 2015!!

Allow me to present one of the SDR's frontline combat recon units, the 'Schwülspinne' STG Ausf. B. The 'Schwülspinne' is a slightly smaller and more agile variant of the venerable Neuspinne. These autonomous drones are easy to identify by their often garish livery or "War Paint", as the unit's maintenance crew likes to call it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love this time of year! This is by far my favorite theme, and I love seeing all of the craziness you guys come up with!!

Ma.Ktoberfest FTW!!

Build Fun Facts:

Multi-Angle View Here

The model is fully articulated. All four of the legs can move at each joint. Main gun features (2) ball joints and (1) hinge joint. Manipulator arm features (1) ball joint and (6) hinge joints. The head is connected by (1) ball joint.

Fifty-Six (56) Light Gray Pirate Hook Hands went into this guy's construction.

The Two (2) Tan 4x4x2 Cones with Axle Hole were virtually impossible to find. I sourced one from Pennsylvania and one from Australia!! Whew!

The LL-824 Paladin is the starfighter you want running an escort mission for your fleet or convoy. Along with a 2 person occupancy, powerful engines and a rugged design, the Paladin boasts an impressive array of fire power to protect and defend those in its care.

Here's my action shot of the Paladin.

[Want to give a special shoutout to The Brothers Birck for featuring the Paladin!]

Other angles & real object reference in here.

HARDnuary 2015 is already halfway and this is 15th build from 31 builds that I plan to post everyday.

Some more info about the world: bricknerd.com/home/worldbuilding-in-the-air-a-chat-with-t...

Hope you guys don’t mind, I took this entry to clarify some things. It turns out my past entries have been done by other builder specifically Melanie who expressed her complain…(Hi there, Melanie) :)

For sure I don’t have the intention to copy a build that have been done before since it literally will waste my limited time that I have, moreover to copy such a wonderful build she’d done by making way lesser build that I did…hahaha. I haven’t been around and get my hands with Lego nor I have open TBB or BrickNerd for more than a year, I also chose not to see what Grant’s have build with this piece, so I’m not sure what builds have been done using this piece.

As far as I know based from last year, other builders have made a lightbulb, flower, and vase from this piece and I’m lost track since then.

As for behind the thought that I did it to win this competition, I can assure you that I knew that I will definitely loose this round when I found out that the mystery part is way to large for my part collection which will make me difficult to build my ideas into realization, moreover with my limited time and bad scheduling conflict I have this time around and the fact that I have to compete with Grant who I think is way much better and skilled builder than I am…(I hate you Grant!)...hahaha

My personal goal for this round is not to win, I’m just so glad and happy that I can get to build again eventhough I can only spare an hour or two to build and took the shot of my build. It reminds me how much I love to build and how much I love to took the shot of my build.

Having said that, it’s 4.00 am in the morning and I haven’t sleep yet due to catch a project deadline I've been working on, but I managed to build something simple for you guys, I hope it haven’t build by other builder though. Enjoy and hope you guys like it :)

Also, this March BrickNerd is hosting the Imperial March contest with cool prizes, so if you are into Star Wars, ships, Jedi and some cute aliens, you can also join this one here.

Last month, I've joined the BrickNerd team. Yeeehaaa! I'll try to share useful and fun content, so stay tuned!

But now, it's time for another awesome contest - Nerdvember! The theme is Comics and you'd have to build an Event Exclusive type build. The prizes are insane - only exclusive sets. And the grand prize is even crazier - your build turned into a comics cover art by the same amazing artist that's doing the exclusive sets art! Say whaaaaat :D

I can't win the cover art (damn it!) or the other prizes, but I still can build stuff, so here it is, the nerdiest Bad Batch character - Tech. Cause you can build one of 3 different things for the contest - a character bust, an iconic scene or a ship/ vehicle. Or all 3!

Everything about the contest here.

"Negola dewaghi wool dugger?"

―Ponda Baba

Ponda Baba, poor sod. He picked one too many fights with the wrong guys.

This build started with me trying to build eyes with mudguards. The shape of the eyes made me think of Ponda Baba. And so, the rest of the build formed around it. I'm pleased with how sad he looks. Maybe he is mourning his lost arm and friend?

My second entry for the NerdVember 2021 contest.

Awhile back I was thinking about what I might like to display alongside the Wasp Wing Table Lamp I built last summer, and the idea came to me to build hard cover books with Art Nouveau inspired cover art. The idea was also inspired by the paperback novel covers that Shannon Sproule has built.

This is the fourth one that I was working one.

I've made the decision to part with my winning entry from the 2011 FBTB Alphabet Starfighter Contest and donate it to Creations for Charity, which raises money to donate LEGO sets to children in need. What all this means is that YOU could be the proud new owner of this dusty relic, to put on your display shelf at home, or just swoosh around the neighborhood.

You can read more about how this starfighter came into being, and all the MOC-building lessons I learned in the process, in this article I wrote about it for BrickNerd.

Note: Some minor changes and part swaps have been made to the original to further improve the MOC... but as you can see, nothing as drastic as the changes George Lucas made to the original Star Wars trilogy (Han shot first).

Made a little build to promote the ongoing BrickNerd contest pi-RATS & BUG-aneers bricknerd.com/home/build-like-a-pirate-pirats-buganeers-l.... If you haven't already, get in on the action as there are plenty of awesome prizes to be won :)

Halloween is almost here and we needed something to get you in that spooky mood! This time you get 2 quick builds :)

You can find free instructions over at BrickNerd.com.

Quick Builds #2 - instructions how to build these guys can be found on BrickNerd.com.

Architeuthis Pirata commonly known as "Pirate Squid, Terror of the Seven Seas". Captain Kraken and his crew of Mollusc Marauders are not passing up any opportunity to pillage and plunder. Build in a little under two month for the BrickNerd “pi-RATS & BUG-aneers” contest. Based on the frame of the Silent Mary, the whole bow/head section can lift up to show-off the kraken's fearsome mouth. I'd love to add more rigging but did run out of time and string. The sails are original lego, dyed with black fabric dye.

A little something to inspire you to build a Nerdly! ;)

I tried the glasses over the gate first, but that made the dark grey around the entrance look like a mustache... So I went for a two headed castle instead!

Happy new year!

I still have a few models from 2018, of which I hadn’t taken photos yet, but I’ll upload them the next days. One of these is my Douglas DC-3, which I had already shown at the Bricking Bavaria in Munich and the Fan Weekend in Skaerbaek.

The model is based on the first version by Obuh Samateus a.k.a. Ssorg (sadly no longer on flickr) from 2012. I made a lot of updates to improve stability, get closer to the original aircraft and add functions like working flaps.

Happy Holidays!

No real bricks were harmed in the making of this build ;)

Had this idea for a while but never really got it to look the way I wanted until now (-ish).

Made as an entry for the monthly challenge on Swebrick, this months piece was the 61184: Technic, Pin 1/2 with 2L Bar Extension (Flick Missile) which actually came in handy quite well.

I’ve enjoyed Bricknerd‘s content for years, so was super excited to see its reboot and had to participate in the Nerdly Strikes Back contest.

John pointed out that glasses could look cute on the penguin design I did as a Christmas bauble, and to keep him from being lonely I added a new owl friend.

I was contacted a little while ago by Dave Schefcik (a former contributor over on TBB) and was given the opporunity to be a part of the "re-launch" of Bricknerd. He's assembled a great team from around the community that I'm very pleased to be a part of. So naturally I had to make a Nerdly-version of my "the beginning"-series, haha!

Before we get into FebRovery too much I figured I'd post this build which I made a little while ago. I've made an article for Bricknerd which will be published tomorrow so head on over there and have a look at some WIP-shots and stuff if you're in the mood for that :)

I have some new builds to show you. I'll start off with this mini-bust. It's the first of three busts that I've built for the Nerdvember2021 contest. I wanted this one to be bigger but I couldn't find any cone parts with the right proportions.

Gotta promote the Nerdly strikes back contest over on Bricknerd.com a bit so here is my first entry!

(I can't win any of the prizes of course...but bragging rights counts for a lot, haha!)

So get in the game and head over to the site bricknerd.com/home/tag/Do+or+do+not+there+is+no+try for more details! Bribes and flattery towards the judges are encouraged ;)

I wanted to build something with the dots cube the moment I saw BrickNerd's contest, so here it is - a Mars speeder (because I don't like speeders at all). Sheep on Mars are a bit different than the ones we have on Earth, so the shepherds need to use more sophisticated equipment.

Awhile back I was thinking about what I might like to display alongside the Wasp Wing Table Lamp I built last summer, and the idea came to me to build hard cover books with Art Nouveau inspired cover art. The idea was also inspired by the paperback novel covers that Shannon Sproule has built.

These are the first three of them, and I am still working on one more.

There's been TONS of posts about the finished build, but people are asking so here's some behind the scenes stuff...

How did we build NEW HASHIMA(端島) ?

A lot planning, A lot of cubes, and A lot of planning.

Here's some behind the scenes on how we accomplished building a 20x20x13 foot city.

The key aspect is the Cube structure - free instructions available in the @rebellug instruction store/link in bio. This cube was first designed Forest King 10 years ago for the first BroLug CyberCity. Few years ago Stefan redesigned it slightly to what it is now.

This cube is the basis for all the structure in the city, everything above the tables is all LEGO, no steal or cheating structures. We broke up the city into basically 3 parts:

Infrastructure - ie base plates and things everything sits on.

Cubes - the support for everything

Toppers - these are bespoke one off builds that has to fit some permutation of the cube. This could be a 5 foot tower or as picturesque as a small tree garden

Each of the sectors layouts were basically mocked up in Excel, where some folks decided to build scale models to represent the sections. Folks were given a chance to sign up and

and then it was all build build build....

we'll have some more detailed look into New Hashima with some Bricknerd articles.

I wanted to build a weathered engine in LEGO ever since Swoofty came up with his faded-red GM&O RS-1, back in the days.

Last year, when I was scanning the internet for pictures of NW3 locomotives to help me design my model of GN 5400, I came across a series of pictures of STSX 179 (ex-GN 179) by photographer Tim Darnell, one of them entitled "Goodbye old friend". This was when the idea for this specific diorama arose; what I had in mind was to build a scene in LEGO depicting a happier end for this old unit than the harsh reality of the torch.

So, here is Old GN 179, sitting on an abandoned repair track, surrounded by nature reconquering its terrain, and patiently waiting for somebody to come along and take care of it…

On the model itself:

- Weathering: I wanted the original GN „Empire Builder“ scheme to still be discernible despite all the rust and color fading, and therefore arranged the reddish and dark brown tones along the formerly Omaha Orange and Pullman Green stripes.

- The V12 prime mover demanded even more attention than the one on my 5400, as it is now openly visible including the exhaust stack and all its tubes and aggregates. And of course it’s seen better days, too, being partially covered with a crust of oil and dirt, and some of the maintenance lids missing.

- Trucks: the train motor deco frames being available in dark brown helped a lot; as usual, I cut off the minifig head at the center to make room for the typical Blomberg swing bolster suspension. I’ve basically kept this version for the final model.

- Numbers: the model is 7+ studs wide and 38+ studs long, built of 820+ parts (plus zillions more for the landscape around it ;-)
