Rorschach (Watchmen)

Made for Nervember 2021 contest on Bricknerd.

Instructions available on Rebrickable

One theme was to build a comics character bust taking size model on exclusive event sets.

There is still a few time to enter the contest and win the possibility to have a custom cover art based on your creation.

My character choice was rorschach from the watchmen comics.

I love so much this one and the way the face is changing from one emotion to another.

What was funny by building this one is it was the same for me, making the face design several time, one time making it too agressive, one time too happy... to finally find a balance I feel...

Here's my entry for the Festival of Mundanity, vehicle category.

Just realised BrickNerd's Nerdvember contest allows you to enter as many times as you like.. so I thought there was just enough time for me to do some last minute entries!

I've been wanting to use those car mud flap pieces on a cloud car's engines ever since I saw they were available in red. And since the contest theme was 80's and the BrickNerd is logo is red I thought why not?

I Woof You! Do You Woof Me?

A classic swedish outhouse from a distant time...

Often you planted syringa (lilac) around the outhouses to prevent (cover up) odor. You'll see them behind the outhouse, in the videoclip.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryvAp7uDoNc

So, since a few years I've gotten alot of attention for character builds, which I really enjoy building. Now I wanted to see if I could build something else. I have no clue why an outhouse was first on my list, so dont ask... Anyways, seemed like a fun challange and a potential to try some new techniques. It was a really fun build and I'll probably explore this genre abit more in the future.

And if you're wondering, it's actually really sturdy. No loose parts and you can tilt the whole structure almost 90 degrees before the hutbase would fall out of its socket from the grassy hill.

―Ponda Baba

Ponda Baba, poor sod. He picked one too many fights with the wrong guys.

This build started with me trying to build eyes with mudguards. The shape of the eyes made me think of Ponda Baba. And so, the rest of the build formed around it. I'm pleased with how sad he looks. Maybe he is mourning his lost arm and friend?

I built this racoon trash can pirate ship for the Bricknerd piRATs and BUGaneers Contest. With a racoon skull sail and a hull full of gold, these masked bandits are on the hunt for lost treasures (gold Bionicle masks?)! Watch out for the double-crossing racoon impersonators! What's in that trash bag? What's on the horizon?

Built for the "Pimp My Nerdly" contest on BrickNerd.

I started this one with the idea of building an "Android Nerdly" but then I ended up with an Android bot that looked like Om Nom.. so I just went for it.

I must also give credit to this build for being - I think - the first on the ball.

I built a piano a few weeks back. I was inspired by the LEGO Dacta Typesetters tiles, which I used as keys. I wrote an article about for BrickNerd.

Guarding the golden corn for the ImperiOwl Navy is no easy job, especially when everyowl guarding Fort Nocturn is a nocturnal owl. Pulling the day shift is a real pain in the eyes, keeping the foulest of the fowl away from the golden treasure stolen from the natives of the West Birdies. But for Commander Snow, no job is too difficult.

Built for the BrickNerd Pi-RATs and BUG-aneers contest, of course. And the natural enemies of Captain Cockerell and the Bad Egg, too.

Andor is (IMO) the best thing that happened to Star Wars in years… so, this is where I went to search for ideas when trying to come up with a model that would not be a repeat of something that has been done a million time before. (Seriously, building anything original in the Star Wars universe is near-impossible)

Anyway, this unremarkable hunk of junk of a speeder is featured for about 20 seconds in the episode 3 of Andor season 1… it is cleverly used as a decoy before being blown to bits by Cassian and Luthen as they flee the imperials on planet Ferrix. A great scene.

This build was also the opportunity for me to use my heavily discolored grey bricks… I love doing that, some of these elements are easily 35 years old… And I think they look great in this context!

Here is a video presentation of the MOC:

This is my third and final entry in the Imperial March contest over on Bricknerd, category 2 Epic ships and vehicles.

Quick Builds #2 - instructions how to build these guys can be found on BrickNerd.com.

Kairos; The Overseer. The deity of time. A being whose sole purpose is to make beings of other worlds interact. To create small pocket universes that house copied species and persons from other worlds into his own. He starts by creating a standard world filled with lush green environments, then gazing upon a lists of planets, star systems, universe, choosing what he deems to be the most interesting. If he finds a person of interest or a species, he copies that being from that exact moment to prevent altering timelines. He creates an exact copy, without the copy realizing it, and puts them on his planet. Dozens, hundreds, thousands, he keeps adding until the planet can no longer sustain itself or he gets bored with his progress. If the fate of the world becomes the latter, he descends down to a lower plain of existence to personally exterminate what he had created with is massive hammers. The hammers are used to create his worlds and are used for their destruction, as well.

His personality is a patient one. He takes his time searching through worlds to see what can make his own more interesting. Like a chef rummaging his cupboards for the right spice or ingredient. When the selected being is copied, they perceive the copy as an otherworldly event that knocks them out, to then be awaken in the new world, without question. Kairos chose those who would be friendly at first, then adds conflict to his world to watch it crumbles. His goal is to study interactions of other beings, and report back to his commander, Lady Void. Kairos is seen as more-or-less an outcast among his kind. He acts like a god for the powers he possesses and gives him an ego that is unfitting for his race. Due to his dimension-hopping, he is hard to pinpoint, making his actions under the radar and dangerous to Lady Void. The Migrator is currently in pursuit of this being, and will be put to death once found.

With the tragic loss of Alex Trebek late in 2020 I felt I needed to do something meaningful as a tribute to the man and his legacy of knowledge, service, and entertainment. My wife and I watch Jeopardy every day so the show and Alex have become a fixture in our lives. The most appropriate idea, and the obvious one for me, was to build a Lego MOC!

Here comes my 6-wide Lego MOC VW T2 Transporter. The Bulli has developed a cult following since its introduction in 1967, like its older sibling T1. Nevertheless it had originally been designed as the most mundane means of transport for craftspeople and farmers. The different versions buyers could chose from, with and without windows, standard or high roof, closed or open bed etc. were advertised with the slogan "Die Zunft der Vernunft," something like "the guild of rationality" or mundanity (?!), alluding to carpenters', roofers' and others' membership in traditional trade guilds. The camper version which today is the icon of #vanlife was just one of a number of options back in the day. Check out this excellent collection of historical ads for more Bulli mundanity: www.vw-t2-bulli.de/de-promotion-vw.html.

My MOC features front doors, a sliding side door, as well as lots of clip, SNOT and bracket work to achieve the proper shaping and proportions. I studied many of the excellent T2 MOCs out there and worked long on refining the shape as close to scale as possible while retaining minifig playbility. Last summer I finally modified that MOC into ED-209 proper.

As of this month I'm officially writing for Bricknerd, along a bunch of very talented and amazing builders and writers. I'm very excited to write about my favourite hobby and share my view with you guys!

Greetings all! I believe that phrase is now my go-to introduction for all my posts ;)

To start off, 2016 has been an amazing year full of fun contests, LEGO conventions, and more. Some of my personal highlights include:

1) BFVA, where I had the chance to collaborate with multiple InnovaLUG members for our Ye Old Merry Battleground Display. I got to hang out and meet with a lot of awesome people, including several InnovaLUG members (obviously), Simon, Gary, Joshua and his brother Daniel, and Sam.

2) BFNJ. While it wasn't as exciting as BFVA (less people and events) I did manage to win a Brickee for my Ishikawa Dojo! Additionally, I was able to go with a few acquaintances who are just beginning to enter the online LEGO-sharing world.

3) I had several creations blogged on multiple sites including Brothers Brick, Bricknerd, and Tiles or Studs.

4) The multiple contests that I entered. One notable highlight was Nuju Metru's Dragon Building Contest, since it challenged me to build something outside my "comfort-zone."

5) The Passion Week collaborative between me and my brother, David. Inspired by the various Harry Potter vignettes, I decided it would be neat to create the Passion Week in a similar fashion. Of course, I decided this a bit late, and asked David if he would be fine with doing half of it. Thankfully, he said yes.

6) InnovaLUG. I thoroughly enjoyed building for each of our various Flash Mocs and Collabs. Additionally, each person in this group is fun, friendly, and is a talented builder.

Overall, it's been a good year, with a total of 19 builds. My most popular build this year, and actually overall, is my Bespin Duel creation, which has (at the time of this write-up) 241 faves and surpassed my previous most popular build, which was also a Star Wars duel creation.

Looking to 2017, it is a bit sad. I am now starting full time college classes, which will mean less time for building. Luckily, I am able to do it all online, which means I can stay home with my bricks! Hopefully, I will still be able to build here and there and complete several unfinished creations. Thanks to all in the online community for your feedback in my creations, in addition to giving me the pleasure of looking at all the awesome creations you build! Have a great 2017!

After reading all the news about this amazing little boy and what San Francisco did to make his dream come true I was inspired to build a MOC.

Miles, you're my hero

Architeuthis Pirata commonly known as "Pirate Squid, Terror of the Seven Seas". Captain Kraken and his crew of Mollusc Marauders are not passing up any opportunity to pillage and plunder. Build in a little under two month for the BrickNerd “pi-RATS & BUG-aneers” contest. Based on the frame of the Silent Mary, the whole bow/head section can lift up to show-off the kraken's fearsome mouth. I'd love to add more rigging but did run out of time and string. The sails are original lego, dyed with black fabric dye.

Second build for NerdVember !

Enjoy :)

The year is 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic is at its peak, taking many lives, and the world is in chaos! There are forest fires, murder hornets, and political turmoil. Luckily, being a survivor, Nerdly is prepared to face these dire times! They have a mask, gloves, hand sanitizer, and a big stash of toilet paper to fight off the deadly virus! For nourishment, Nerdly’s apartment is filled with lots of delivery food and various libations. There are markings on the floor to warn others to keep a six-stud distance to Nerdly. To pass the time, they have a backlog of video games and LEGO sets, and Tiger King streaming on TV. Unfortunately, the trash can is filled with tickets and invitations for events that have been canceled and Nerdly’s hair has become long and untamed as attempts to cut it themselves have not gone well. Nerdly will get through this!

Quick Builds #2 - instructions how to build these guys can be found on BrickNerd.com.

I have recently joined the team at the awesome and revamped BrickNerd (bricknerd.com) site to contribute Train themed content. BrickNerd curates a variety of AFOL content with the emphasis on the builders, their MOCs, and their stories. It strives to dig deeper behind the scenes and give us a personal perspective on our community.

I was intimidated by the tradition at BrickNerd to make a brick Headz representation of ourselves in the typical "nerdy" glasses "branding" we all know and love. Given my role to represent the Train theme, it was obvious to me mash-up Headz with Trains!

The LEGO Train theme has no shortage of visually striking and iconic models over its history. Therefore, I chose both the 7740 12V locomotive and the 4458 9V Metroliner as my starting points. Distilling these models into a 6x6 stud footprint whilst incorporating the "nerd" glasses and top studs was more challenging that I expected. In any case, I like a challenge, and these charming character builds were good fun!

The songs of eons past tell of battles between Nerdalore the Great and an order of sphere throwers called Jocki, how he humiliated the Cult of Chee’r Lee-dar, and won the heart of the Princess of Geek’vin.

The bosses said not a Star Wars contest. But with a title of “Nerdly Strikes Back” no way I could resist! Build a nerdly! Win awesome prizes! Check out the details at bricknerd.com/home/nerdly-strikes-back-contest-5-2021 and www.flickr.com/groups/14775115@N23/

THIS IS THE NERDLY WAY!

Here's my LEGO version of the Episode VI original poster. It was a great challenge but I'm pretty happy with the result.

Mrs Foutch

A close-up of the EB1/2 type electric slug of the Prussian state railroad in LEGO.

EB1 and 2 were manufactured by AEG in 1914; they consisted basically of the running gear and motor of an EG511-class electric locomotive, adapted for remote operation by a control car.

My model is unpowered, but the two clear headlights are fully functional. Note that the third headlight back then was not used as such, but for signaling purposes. For example, a green light as shown above would indicate an unscheduled train following.

For more details on the concept behind the 1914 Prussian demonstrator trains, see here.

For the RogueOlympics on www.RogeuBricks.de I built a camera with only 101 parts, which you can find on my stream.

I liked this first 101 parts MOC so much, that I decided to build it again - but then without part limit.

The camera itself is only build with LEGO parts and, the Nintendo set tiles fitting perfectly for the screen on the backside. Also the objektive is brick build in this one.

Went to a taping of the number one late night talk show and brought along my LEGO version of Greg, Kat, Tyrus and the set. Thanks for the shoutout, Greg! Link

Seeing LegoWyrm's recent Cyberpunk Edgerunner chibi figures inspired me to finally try building some chibi figures for myself... especially as he was so kind to share building instructions. They provided me with a great starting point, and I definitely learned a lot about how his characters come to life.

His "frame" is a little larger scale that the original standard that MikeVD came up with, and it was interesting to compare (I think mine here falls somewhere in between the two). I know that MikeVD has already build chibi versions of Chisato and Takina from LycoReco himself, so looking forward to comparing them (I already know that the parts he used for the leather bags were perfection)... and if you haven't watched the anime series "Lycoris Recoil" yet, it is a must watch.

I also plan to interview both Mike and Javier about their chibi figures in an upcoming article for BrickNerd and I'm looking forward to learning more about how they have developed and refined their signature chibi building styles.

Here are Nerdly and the vehicles when they haven't formed Nerdtron. Some assembly required.

In 2 years I have uploaded 65 different LEGO creations presented in 323 photos.

789 people are following me and i follow 419 people.

My creations was published 7 times on The Brother Brick, 6 times on BrickNerd and 1 time on Brick Time.

One creation (LEGO Arm) went viral and saw the world beyond Flickr and Facebook :D

I would like to thank all my followers for every favorite and nice comment left on my creations.
