Made this for Tommy Williamson's Bricknerd Nerdvember contest.
Basically tried to comicly adapt this really cool Gentle Giant statue i love, only slightly more nerdified, but then the r2 body came out so clean i had to make it a real r2 head to do him justice. might take a more serious stab at leia too when i have time
Like last year, I've built a total of four creations. I'm looking forward to what 2016 will bring, although I fear I will have even less time to build LEGO. Happy New Year, everyone!

Some of my secrets to getting better lighting out of Bricklink Studio.
Last month, I've joined the BrickNerd team. Yeeehaaa! I'll try to share useful and fun content, so stay tuned!
But now, it's time for another awesome contest - Nerdvember! The theme is Comics and you'd have to build an Event Exclusive type build. The prizes are insane - only exclusive sets. And the grand prize is even crazier - your build turned into a comics cover art by the same amazing artist that's doing the exclusive sets art! Say whaaaaat :D
I can't win the cover art (damn it!) or the other prizes, but I still can build stuff, so here it is, the nerdiest Bad Batch character - Tech. Cause you can build one of 3 different things for the contest - a character bust, an iconic scene or a ship/ vehicle. Or all 3!
Everything about the contest here.
My entry for the Festival of Mundanity, hosted by BrickNerd and The Lego Car Blog!
Fiat Multipla is probably one of the most atrocious cars ever made, It is ugly and mundane at the same time.
I made it in 7wide'ish and actually had fun building it.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 09
Chapter 9 : The Half-Blood Prince
'Yes. That. Well, that one, ladies and gentlemen, is a most curious little potion called Felix Felicis. I take it,' he turned, smiling, to look at Hermione, who had let out an audible gasp, 'that you know what Felix Felicis does, Miss Granger?'
'It's liquid luck,' said Hermione excitedly. 'It makes you lucky!'
_
In which Harry discovers the Half-Blood Prince textbook and uses it to win the Felix Felicis by brewing a perfect Death of Living Draught.
_
First of all.. WHY ARE THEY LEARNING TO BREW A POTION THAT 'A DROP CAN KILL EVERYONE IN THE ROOM' WITH??!
I had some fun building this floor technique and searching for a pearl-grey cauldron on BrickLink pre-Disney Castle launch. This table took me a few tries to get it to a size I liked, you can barely see it but I used spider-legs underneath for detailing. I actually love this moment in the movie when Hermione smells the love-potion in the cauldron and starts listing smells she's attracted to..”Freshly cut grass, new parchment, spearmint toothpaste” hahahah, my girl <3
Edit: sorry I should have clarified, items on the desk are potions: Veritaserum, though colourless/odorless and clear, it takes a full lunar cycle to have it get to that state - so lets just say its in the prestages with that green smoke
Amortentia, the most deadliest love potion
and bottled Felix Felicis in a stand.

If you haven’t had a look already, please visit the previous builders pages. Their interpretations of the series are truly magical, you can see the full series in our Flickr group here.
We've all been there right? One minute you're minding your own nerdy-business then suddenly your glasses become a spaceship...
What do you mean no? Just me then ;P
Built for the Nerdvember contest run by (unsurprisingly) BrickNerd!
I love him... can you find him in the entire MOC : www.flickr.com/photos/110633275@N05/15228516714/
Enjoy !
A detailed recreation of the original Star Tours vehicle, complete with RX-24 pilot, Star Tours crew member, glow-in-the-dark headlights, maintenance hatches, simultaneously opening doors, and a slot for an iPod Touch to serve as the screen so that it can actually play the ride video!
Built for the vehicles category in Bricknerd's Imperial March contest.
A little something for BrickNerd's Cube Your Enthusiasm challenge. Had to go digital since I didn't have any cubes, which was kind of a bummer as I would have loved taking advantage of the non-purist cut the cube aspect of the challenge!
The idea to do Carl actually came from my sis but she didn't have time to run with it so I did. 'Twas a nice break from the massive build sitting on my desk right now... coming soon to a photostream near you... ;)

Kairos; The Overseer. The deity of time. A being whose sole purpose is to make beings of other worlds interact. To create small pocket universes that house copied species and persons from other worlds into his own. He starts by creating a standard world filled with lush green environments, then gazing upon a lists of planets, star systems, universe, choosing what he deems to be the most interesting. If he finds a person of interest or a species, he copies that being from that exact moment to prevent altering timelines. He creates an exact copy, without the copy realizing it, and puts them on his planet. Dozens, hundreds, thousands, he keeps adding until the planet can no longer sustain itself or he gets bored with his progress. If the fate of the world becomes the latter, he descends down to a lower plain of existence to personally exterminate what he had created with is massive hammers. The hammers are used to create his worlds and are used for their destruction, as well.
His personality is a patient one. He takes his time searching through worlds to see what can make his own more interesting. Like a chef rummaging his cupboards for the right spice or ingredient. When the selected being is copied, they perceive the copy as an otherworldly event that knocks them out, to then be awaken in the new world, without question. Kairos chose those who would be friendly at first, then adds conflict to his world to watch it crumbles. His goal is to study interactions of other beings, and report back to his commander, Lady Void. Kairos is seen as more-or-less an outcast among his kind. He acts like a god for the powers he possesses and gives him an ego that is unfitting for his race. Due to his dimension-hopping, he is hard to pinpoint, making his actions under the radar and dangerous to Lady Void. The Migrator is currently in pursuit of this being, and will be put to death once found.

An ice cream and LEGO when we were kids would be such a match and for sure makes your day, I missed how simple things to make me happy back then :)
This is my first mid-term project, what I meant mid-terms is weeks to months project since all my past build are short-term projects (1-3 days max).
It's about 3 months since I started this, looking and waiting for the right parts, the right color, buying sticker paper print, designing the menu poster and the ice cream graphic. The experience and satisfaction a bit different since I can think and add more to the details and so on, and learn to be patience when waiting for the parts I bought *sigh...lol…but it turns out I do love this mid-term project method and will do more in the future :)

Ok guys !
Nerd Spidey is here (done by Yatkuu) but I know one super-hero that wear more fantastics nerd glasses... Here comes Cyclops !!
4th entry for NerdVember... Enjoy !!
2017 was quite a busy year for me, with several notable accomplishments. I started the year competing in The Tourney, which is a rounds-based castle contest. I only made it to round 2, but it was still really fun and allowed me to experiment with some new building styles. Next, I worked on a few builds for Bricks Cascade, a convention in Portland. I rebuilt part of my Helm's Deep MOC from last year, built an epic Laketown diorama with Cole Blood, and built a couple small castle islands for the huge Time Isles collaboration, which somehow won best in show! I also got to meet and hang out with a ton of amazing builders, and had a great time at the convention. Soon after Bricks Cascade, I posted my updated Helm's Deep and got blogged for the first time by The Brothers Brick and Bricknerd! In May, I entered the 2017 MELO (Middle Earth Lego Olympics) on MOCPages, which is another rounds-based contest. This time I was much more successful and managed to win first place, which was a huge and unexpected accomplishment. I also entered a couple additional builds into the Summer Joust contest on Flickr, and got a couple of honorable mentions. By the time MELO was over, I had to work on a few builds for BrickCon in Seattle. The main build was a huge collaboration called The Village of Avalon, which I built with Jake Hansen, Cole Blood, and Micah Schmidt. The final build together looked amazing, though we had to do a lot of building at the convention to finish in time. I also built a big Renaissance island for the Time Isles collaboration, that we expanded for BrickCon. The build later got blogged by TBB. In addition to the awesome collaborations, I also brought my MELO R6 build, which won Best Fortification! After a very fun and successful BrickCon, I finished up the year with several CCC entries.
I can't wait for next year, though I will probably be posting a bit less often because of school. Happy New Year everyone!
If you're looking for a place to find in-depth LEGO themed content, somewhere to see other sides of the hobby, or just a good spot to find entertaining LEGO reads, we're hoping the new BrickNerd will be right for you!
Meet the rest of the team!
Had to rig this little guy out with an array of slopes on the top of his head in order to slip those glasses on. XD
Look, there's HipHop Robot in his bassy bossy Bass-Barrel resisting the sound waves, pulling the strings on the hunt for the obligatory summer hit burried on Llama Island!
This is my entry to BrickNerd's piRATS & BUG-aneers contest.
Today I'm sharing a quick to build rose that you can make for a loved one.

A reconnaissance and espionage drone used by the Strahl Demokratische Republik in the fight against the Independent Mercenary Army. It acts autonomously and swiftly to tap into enemy communications and deliver valuable tactical data to commanders of the SDR. Possessing very little armaments and instead focussing on espionage equipment this unit is very vulnerable in a direct confrontation. As a last course of action it can release a cloaking gas from its head tank to aid in its escape.
Years ago while looking up MOCs for inspiration I stumbled upon the fan theme month Ma.Ktoberfest and was instantly enamoured by the cool industrial sci-fi models it showcased. Ma.Ktoberfest nowadays seems to be mostly forgotten, but I am very happy to finally be able to say that I contributed to this cool niche theme.
And who knows, maybe this won’t be the last time I’m digging up an old fan theme (hint hint).
If you want to know more about Ma.Ktoberfest I recommend checking out this great article that goes into detail on both the history of Ma.K. and the Lego fan month it inspired (bricknerd.com/home/maktoberfest-the-rise-and-demise-of-a-...)

We first met Shepherd McKnight Dreamer during the Summer Joust. As you can see, even if he cares about sheep, he still dreams to be a knight.
I don't know if his dream will come true but maybe he's gonna get more sheep to heard, thanks to the incredible BrickNerd judges! :)
Behold, the Bricknerd Headquarters, in all of its Nerdly glory! This two story modern construction features an office, extensive lego wall, in-house studio, kitchenette, wall space for plenty of movie posters, twin balconies, and a top secret Nerdly cloning chamber. (Baby Nerdly based on the design of Geneva/Kai NRG).
When this contest was announced I almost immediately came up with the name pun, (Modular & Nerdly = Nerdular), then the idea for the glasses as balconies. After that I just kind of threw stuff together till I figured out things that worked. Building a modular is a new experience for me, having never built any of the sets even, but I enjoyed this build, despite it feeling too simplistic in places. The studio area is obviously based on the classic backdrop that Tommy would appear against in the original Bricknerd content.
If you want to look at all of the interior details that I didn't have time to render a good shot of, the 3D view on mecabricks can be opened in the workshop, and the floors are easily grouped.

It's hard to believe how quickly 2016 went by, and yet how much was done in it.
As usual, I built quite a few collabs with my brother John. Including our largest build ever, Life in Nordheim.
I competed in the MOCatholon with Kai NRG, Garmadon, W. Navarre, and Jsnyder002 and came awfully close to winning.
The first Summer Joust contest was held and the success of it was astonishing, assuring it will be held again this year.
In August I went to my first LEGO convention: BFVA, which was absolutely amazing and allowed me to meet loads of great builders in person. Also participated in the Ye Old Merry Battleground display which was lots of fun, and brought home 2 brickees for Best Castle (Life in Nordheim) and Best Medium Spacecraft (Scorpion Starfighter).
I was able to contribute to several InnovaLUG flash MOCs, and RochLUG local displays.
And quite a few of my creations were featured on The Brothers Brick, Bricknerd, Classic-Castle, or Eurobricks. I reached 1.7k followers this year as well.
All in all, I made over 55 builds. Here are the ones shown in the collage, top row:
Second Row
Third Row:
Fourth Row:
Mitgardian Marksman Tournament
Fifth Row
MANTIS LR3 Mobile Missile Truck
Adventurers Reboot: Temple Ruins
Bottom Row
Most popular build of the year: Dwarven Trade in Dale with 285 favorites and 36 comments.
John and I also put up quite a few tutorials and reviews on our website, brickbuilt.
So thanks everyone for your continued support!
Leave a note on your favorite build :)
Wow, I'm floored! This set is massive! HUGE thanks to TLG and Bricknerd for this incredibly generous prize! Nerdtron is very happy that he'll have somewhere to park his left arm. :D
5 years ago the crew of the Mantis found each other and formed a bond strong enough to hold back the forces of the Empire. But time has passed. Cal and NerD-1 find themselves desperate, alone, and on the run, as the wider galaxy only descends further into darkness. Only together will they just might keep themselves ahead of trouble.

Many years ago, Angus MacLane (Pixar Director and AFOL Superstar) came up with a bunch of fun fads that we all built - one of them was the Couch Potatoes!
With his new Lightyear movie, I decided to go down memory lane and write about some of his fun concepts - you can read more @Bricknerd:

For the occasion, I decided to build a Buzz Lightyear that fit his Couch Potatoes theme!
Who else wants to make one of these fun things for BFVA?
The lowly brick separator is so mundane that LEGO has to give them away in most large sets!

Here's the Fairbanks-Morse H15-44 I designed for this year's BMR OcTRAINber contest, "repainted" in NH's 1950s livery (I think it's called the "McGinnis" scheme, but not sure, as there were apparently quite a few variants).
The idea behind it was to find a color scheme that would be buildable in real bricks, i.e. suffer less from limited part availability than the previous two-tone green version, while still accentuating the unique shape of the car body.
My wife came by just when I was working on the orange cab in LDD, and she was like "hey, cool! Is it for halloween?" -- and so the idea to the above scenery was born, and I began to add more and more spooky stuff.
Enjoy -- and happy halloween to all you Lego train fans out there!
MEGA Core Vehicle Platform (M.C.V.P) LL 928
The M.C.V.P emerged as the main utility and ground combat support vehicle for OrionBlu soon after the Blue Jacket proved to maintain air superiority over the Sonic Star. The main vehicle, simply referred to as “the Core”, has multiple platform load outs ranging from strong cargo boxes to advanced weapon turrets or tactical recon transports. The Core is fitted with strong armor plating, oversized all terrain wheels with independent suspension and advanced shielding capabilities. The Core is normally crewed by three, a pilot, a Core utilities manager and a platform specialist. Most Core vehicles also include a systems robot to monitor the overall functionality of the Core.
To increase the Core’s utility, a variety of detachable, wheeled trailing platforms can be attached to supplement the Core’s load out. The extensive list of trailing platform load outs range in function from construction and utility cranes to planetary artillery. Over half of the load outs use the same trailing Control Center which may be crewed independently of the Core if the Control Center will be detached for stationary duties, such as use as a fixed listening post or semi-permanent anti-cruiser artillery.
