our tour guide asked us if we wanted some south african home brew...a couple of his friends parents were known in the township for their brew. we say, 'heck yeh!' oh boy, if you would have seen it you would have thought twice...it was dark and milky looking. we took a sip, but the residents polished it off.
While this batch is still fermenting, I just had to snap a photo of it. The dark color on the top of the yeast foam is the coloration imparted by the grains we used for flavor. The fact it settled to one side was just a bonus
Used for sterilizing the kombucha vessel. The Kombucha vessel purchased at the thrift store for $1. Iodophor graciously provided by Grantiago, my brother in brewing.

Elderflower Champagne brewing in the pot. Contains water sugar elderflowers pinch of yeast lemons limes and pink grapefruit and ginger.

Maple sap comes out of the tree with a viscosity similar to water. Boiling it like this goes a long way at condensing it down to a thicker syrup.
Brews & Bubbles is a Greensboro Science Center fundraiser featuring great food and music, an awesome atmosphere, and samples of beer, wine and hard cider.

So many almost-awesome things this weekend, but also so many really good things.
Like... showing up to this bar wearing a Phillies cap and finding out that Rhys Hoskins was actually there an hour before. BUT then immediately getting the best nitro cold brew I've ever tasted, for only $2.50.
Or ALMOST going to a Canine Carnival full of costumed dogs BUT putting an old tank top of Deanna's on Beignet instead.
Or ALMOST eating at Snooz but being driven away by a stomach that protested against an hour wait time BUT getting bagels and good quality time with Ben and Rachel.
Or ALMOST getting a picture with Daniel but forgetting my camera BUT getting to hang anyways while the Astros won the pennant.
Almost a good weekend but still a good weekend.
