...also known as a 'scoby,' as called by my coworker that bestowed it upon me. This is the Kombucha 'rubber' that houses the bacteria and ferments the tea.

Roots Brewing off Hawthorne in SE Portland
Note 7/13/2010 Sad to say Roots has closed losing too much money , hope this isn't a harbinger of things to come as I think the market is become really saturated with brewpubs in Portland these days. I wish all the places could survive but it isn't reality. Grab your Woody IPA's and Island Red's at the store before they are gone forever . . .

I tend to focus on hitting booths for beers I've never had before, so I started with a "Freak'n A" from Freak'N Brewing Company out of Peoria, AZ.
It was a tasty Amber, a little more hoppy than your standard off-the-shelf variety. A nice start to the day.

"Blended lambic beer brewed with raspberries."
This was very nice. It was NOT sweet, and that is not surprising due to it being from Cantillon and made with raspberries. :) When raspberries are used they tend to add a mouth puckering level of tartness. The base lambic beer used in this was fairly standard for Cantillon as far as I can tell. This is one flavorful, nice glass of lambic beer if you can get it.
