This was a tricky shot because of not knowing which orientation would work best. I tried horizontal mode to capture the dog trying to run after the kite boarder in the water. But then the sail got cut out of the frame. It was constantly moving high or low with the brisk winds. Then with portrait mode I barely got everything in before the boarder took off with the wind and left the dog behind with a person on shore. I have taken off, too, on a mini holiday to visit family. I shall be in and out on Flickr.

We're here: Soap
Disclaimer: No pigeon got soap in it's eyes. Or anywhere else. I filled the birdbath with sunflower seeds :-) The soap came later.

Because of bad weather there was no time to sit on the bench and enjoy the stunning view. Should come back in summer.

The beautiful facades of Petra are, for the most part, tombs.
About 500 resisted the time because they were dug directly into the red rock, while the other buildings of the city collapsed with the earthquakes and the consequent abandonment of the city. There is a sequence of beautiful royal tombs known as Urn Tomb, Corinthian Tomb and Palace Tomb which are well worth a visit.
Because they are Villa supporters, and they don't like being mucked around with!

SPRING🌷
A Rhododendron park in Germany in Westerstede, Hobbie Park. I had a wonderful time there in 2014🌞
“Recall the moment that recalls you,” the Core sang, its voice a melody braided from collapsing epochs. “It is older than stars, and younger than your next breath.”
The harmonics deepened.
“All time bends toward you. All time breaks because of you. All time begins again through you.
You will end what cannot end. You will begin what cannot begin. You will stand where time kneels.”
“I don’t understand,” Adrienne whispered. “Stop speaking in riddles. Just tell me what I’m supposed to do.”
The Core answered on a soft tone, “Stand upon the Ovum Stone… and open your mind.”
Adrienne looked down. At her feet rested an egg-shaped stone, smooth, pale, impossibly ancient — a relic of the first moment, humming with energy.
She stepped onto its center.
The floating rings around the Core shifted, descending through her body like luminous vertebrae. They passed into the ground beneath her. Her muscles loosened; her weight dissolved. She hovered above the stone, suspended in a cradle of unseen force.
Unfamiliar thoughts surged through her — not memories, but possibilities. Her arms rose on instinct. Lightning crackled around the Core, spiraling upward like a storm learning to speak.
Symbols flashed before her eyes, too fast to grasp, too old to name.
The voice whispered, “Stand before the sum of all moments. Every beginning is still beginning. Every ending has already ended. Every possibility exists in superposition.”
Adrienne didn’t know how she knew — but she knew. She was the conduit. She was the interface. She was the one who could command the Core.
“Time has now ceased,” the voice murmured.
All machinery froze. The ground shuddered once. Silence swallowed everything.
Adrienne hung suspended — not breathing, not feeling, only existing. Terror flooded her.
“What have I done…”
Moments — or eternities — passed.
Then the Core spoke again, no longer melodic, but absolute, “Begin the sequencing of moments.”
Conduits erupted with blue white chronal fire. Gears slowly began to rotate, aligning constellations of runes that had not been seen since the universe was young. Pendulums resumed their swing, counting centuries, correcting drift, stitching time back together.
A haze lifted from her. Breath returned. She collapsed to her knees, trembling, exhausted.
“Reset complete,” the Core intoned.
A pause. Then, almost gently, “Would you like me to foretell your future?”

I havnt posted anything in awhile because I have been in Europe for the last few weeks but have taken some photos in that time. On this rare sunny day I ventured out with a fellow German railfan who I had met in Peru to visit some of the diesel lines in former East Germany. We got very lucky and got two trains powered by the Soviet built 232 class "Ludmilla" diesels, easily the coolest locomotives still in regular service on DB. Here a loaded coal train departs Könnern after running around, the coal is destined for the power plant at a local sugar mill. Like in the US old cool power brings out the railfans and there was a big crowd that showed up to photograph the train.
because of the strong sunlight, i get a strainge backlight, it's gives a special effect of warm colors
Because male White-crowned Sparrows learn the songs they grow up with and typically breed close to where they were raised, song dialects frequently form. Males on the edge of two dialects may be bilingual and able to sing both dialects. (Cornell)

just because........ i actually impeded traffic in the parking lot cause i just had to get this shot. ~grin~ that is really and truly the license plate -- i didn't photoshop it in-- honest!!
So called because its larvae are predators upon grasshopper eggs, this insect is a fly, not a bee. As an adult it is, however, a bee mimic, which may serve to deter some predators. I'll admit that the insect world is vast and confusing, and I may get it wrong as often as I get it right, so if anyone has a different opinion, please do not hesitate to correct my I.D. of this as Systoechus vulgaris.
It was resting briefly atop an unopened poppy in my backyard garden. There are huge numbers of them present this week in my corner of the prairie. Fuzzy, furry, and sort of cute, it spent several minutes cleaning sticky pollen off its long proboscis. These flies are harmless; they don't bite or sting. They are always welcome in my garden.

The prompt of bark seemed straightforward enough, but I really found it challenging to get the focus just right. This is from the Honeycrisp apple tree in my backyard. The harvestable apples this year were a bit of a sparse crop because we don't spray pesticides, so the bugs and then the birds got most of the fruit.
Though I am not in love with the sky in this photo, I wanted to share it because I loved the way the bridge and the reflection came out. I shoot raw, using a Nikon D3400, and edit in Lightroom (occasionally Photoshop).
On this particular evening there were many families out, walking about or enjoying the fountains.
I found myself envying them just a little bit because the heat has become unbearable lately and the children were running through and splashing in the fountains, having a blast (some of the parents enjoyed a splash or two also). But I had arrived late, hoping to catch the sunset, when it suddenly became very windy, thundering overhead. Families quickly packed up and left. Fortunately, I was able to get quite a few shots in before the sky opened up.
Happy Monochrome Monday!
Red-tailed Hawk (view large for detail) Backlit from overhead sun. Because they are so common and easily trained as capable hunters, the majority of hawks captured for falconry in the United States are Red-tails. Falconers are permitted to take only hawks in their first year. Adults, which may be bred, are not permitted to be taken for falconry. Falconers prefer to train first year hawks, which have not been locked into uncooperative adult behaviors. Wingspan,is about 3.8 to 4.3 (1.1 to 1.3 m) (20 to 26 in) in length. As is the case with many raptors the Red-tailed Hawk displays sexual dimorphism in size, as females are 25% larger than males. The wingspan is from 110 to 145 cm (43 to 57 in).
The Red-tailed Hawk also has significance in Native American culture. Its feathers are considered sacred by some tribes, and are used in religious ceremonies. IMG_8976

Fourteenth picture of the series Delta Dreams.
(For this time in vertical, reverse the roles on the boats.
The sun was out and you can be appreciated just to the right of the boat in the background, all those pixels you see are hundreds of flamingos feeding in these lands so good for them.
From my position I listened to them perfectly, but due to fog were almost imperceptible)
My dreamed sunrise in the Delta of the river Ebro -Tarragona-.
The previous day, a local man explained to me a perfect location for enjoy the photograph of this beautiful land.
I consulted the parameters that night and everything was correct to travel there.
The truth is that I was impressed to get to that place, I put on my waders running to get me asap and do not lose the time.
The sun had not yet risen, the water reached my waist, good temperature, soft wind, a lot of clouds and fog surrounding the horizon, made the conditions were the best.
Many photos I've seen of this place is that in photoshop blur the horizon line with the clone tool, but there was fog and with long exposure, completely erased.
It seemed that I was doing a photo shoot in the same heaven.
I think for many more times to return to this place, I can never find anything so perfect.
This is the photo shoot I most enjoyed in recent years, have a set of at least seven impressive images.
On the technical side, say that I only used a neutral gradient three steps filter.
I hope you like it. Have a nice Friday. :)

The Narrow Way
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.

Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost
Doesn't mean I'll stop
Doesn't mean I will crossJust because I'm hurting
Doesn't mean I'm hurt
Doesn't mean I didn't get what I deserved
No better and no worseI just got lost
Every river that I tried to cross
Every door I ever tried was locked
Oh and I'm just waiting 'til the shine wears off

Monday Morning Funny #58 - Because Monday Mornings are NOT funny!
LOL... I pulled over and was taking pictures of them out of the car window and talking to them the whole time. Don't ask why I was talking to them... I seem to do that with animals (like the racoons that try to get into my trash, skunks that come in the yard, seagulls that decide to sit on my Jeep)... hehehehe
Hope you all have a WONDERFUL Monday... *choke*, *cough*... BLUCK!
While researching for the above image ran across a priceless definition which was " Seaweeds only smell because they're trying to attract sperm "
Let's sit back and see what that does to the search tags !
Because the world’s elephants are in trouble and need your help.
Image taken in Northern Botswana
Elephant numbers have dropped by 62% over the last decade, and they could be mostly extinct by the end of the next decade. An estimated 100 African elephants are killed each day by poachers seeking ivory, meat and body parts, leaving only 400,000 remaining. An insatiable lust for ivory products in the Asian market makes the illegal ivory trade extremely profitable, and has led to the slaughter of tens of thousands of African elephants. Between 2010 and 2014, the price of ivory in China tripled, driving illicit poaching through the roof. If the elephants are to survive, the demand for ivory must be stopped . As of 2011, the world is losing more elephants than the population can reproduce, threatening the future of African elephants across the continent. Bull elephants with big tusks are the main targets and their numbers have been diminished to less than half of the females. Female African elephants have tusks and are also killed, which has a terrible effect on the stability of elephant societies, leaving an increasing number of orphaned baby elephants. There are still more African elephants being killed for ivory than are being born . . . elephant populations continue to decline.
