Because it is Valentine's Day I had my hubby select three photos from M&M's photoshoot for my Flickr page, I hope they bring you all a smile. ❤️
It all started because of 8f8's new set for the Arcade this September called ♪ Trea Time ♫. I decided I wanted to redo my Moon Cafe and add some of those beautiful pieces. After that, Bambi said something that sounded like what if the Cafe Moon was a teahouse hidden behind an alleyway and luring people with the scent of rich tea aroma (It sounded so fancy like an NPC giving me a story quest in a game, you know those!) So her idea inspired me to move the cafe moon and incorporate the little unexpected challenge I took on.
I am so happy with the result, but you know what makes me even happier? I get to show off these 2 items that Bambi made, her fresh journey of being an SL creator! She made the little wooden nailed Robin called Robbie and the little wooden hedge hogged nails infront of the counter called Samuel. Aren't they adorable? I mean look at the detail of the wood and her handmade textures.(Did I mention I take pictures on Low settings and I lightly edit on photoshop so this is LEGIT) They look so lovely mixed with other creations I adore.
I am so looking forward to her creations and will forever be the annoying cheerleader in the background failing at dance moves! Her zeal, energy and patience really amazes me, I love how Oh Deer is not going to be just a cozy cafe giving comfort to travelers but it is also going to be a little creation from the heart bringing smile to peoples faces and you can take them all home.

When I heard the Genesis album "A Trick of the Tail," I didn't understand the song "Squonk." I didn't understand what it was explaining exactly, or who the song was referring to. The neuron that fires in my brain to do something I enjoy, which is something like musical archaeology, disconnected for some reason. It stopped making synapses in my neural system, and I did nothing to find out what this song explained. A few years later, I became interested in a strange website called the Internet Archive, also known as archive.org for its internet address. This kind of digital internet library or website is established as a non-profit organization and is operated thanks to the efforts of people who volunteer their free time to make this website work. Explaining what the Internet Archive is isn't easy. It's an organization and a website that advocates for a free and open Internet, for the free flow of information, offering free access to collections of digitized materials, software applications, music, audiovisual materials, books, printed materials, and much more. It's especially important to websites that are closing and contain old digital material that would otherwise be lost. They try to preserve Internet content in this way, functioning as a "backup" of the Internet, making it possible to recover and view web pages that have disappeared or been deleted, thus eliminating the information they contained. It's a free, open library accessible to everyone. Its objective is to preserve human culture and knowledge. It's easy to get lost in it given the vast amount of information and materials available. You often search and get lost among so much material and find things you don't even know what they're for, or you find things that surprise you. You can even find software for your first Amstrad or Atari computer, which you bought in the 1990s. I highly recommend it. Here are the updated figures from Wikipedia about what you can find on the Internet Archive: 46 million printed materials, 15 million videos, 1.3 million software programs, 14 million audio files, 5.3 million images, 279,660 concerts, and more than 946 billion web pages in its Wayback Machine (a database containing copies of a huge number of Internet pages or sites). Does that seem like too little to you? Or do you think it's a place worth diving into to search and find the strangest things you can think of or look for? It's a kind of "grandmother's trunk" that holds everything. And it's the books section that I think is the best organized, where you can find books that no longer exist, that aren't published, or that you wouldn't even find in your local municipal library. There are millions of digitized books, where I've even found books that are impossible to find elsewhere. One day, while searching the book section, I accidentally found a book by Cox titled "Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberwoods, With a Few Desert and Mountain Beasts." The book is like a fantasy field guide written in 1910 by William Thomas Cox. It's a book about legendary and strange creatures that are part of the legends of the forests of the United States and Canada, and especially of Pennsylvania. As field guides do with their scientific names, Cox's book includes the Latin nomenclature of the strange being (I imagine invented by Cox), its habitat, morphology, customs, and behaviors. If you decide to read it, keep one important thing in mind. You won't find a literary gem, for the simple reason that Cox only wrote two or three books in his life. Cox wasn't a writer; he was a forester, a person who dedicated himself to the cultivation and care of forests. But that is precisely his great merit, as, not a writer, but a forester, he wrote a book of legends about strange beings that is so interesting to read. You can find the book for free on the Internet Archive. It was while reading this book that I came across a chapter where it talks about a strange being, a legend... the legend of the Squonk, and I remembered the Genesis song, the meaning of which I hadn't understood. Reading this chapter, I managed to understand the song. Rather than describing what a Squonk is, I'll give you an excerpt from Cox's book, so you can perhaps better understand the lyrics of Genesis's Squonk song.
Squonk (Lacrimacorpus dissolvens.)
[...] The squonk is very shy in nature and generally travels near dusk or dawn. Because of its maladjusted skin, which is covered with warts and moles, it is always sad; in fact, it is said, by those better qualified to judge, to be the most morbid of beasts. Hunters who are good at tracking are able to follow a squonk by its tear-stained trail, for the animal weeps constantly. When cornered and escape seems impossible, or when surprised and frightened, it may even dissolve itself in tears. Squonk hunters are most successful on very cold, moonlit nights, when tears fall slowly and the animal does not like to come out; it can be heard crying beneath the branches of the dark hemlock trees. Mr. J. P. Wentling, formerly of Pennsylvania, who moved to Minnesota, had a failed experience with a squonk near Monte Alto. He planned a clever capture by tricking a squonk into jumping into a satchel he was carrying home, when suddenly the load lightened and the tears stopped. Wentling opened the satchel and looked inside. There was nothing there except a pool of tears.

In the Xizang Autonomous Region of China, there are so-called "tulins" or earth forests.. These are geological formations that resemble forests due to their shapes created by erosion. The best known is the Zanda Forest in Ngari Prefecture, where the largest Tertiary layer of earth forests or geologic forests in the world is found. These are important geological information for understanding the evolution of our planet. They are partly similar to the Yadan, but have a structure and formation more similar to the Badlands due to their sedimentary stratification and deep gullies and ravines. In any case, all these types of geological landscapes have in common: aridity and the absence of life. There are no plants or animals, or they are practically nonexistent except for the occasional "clueless" scorpion. They are inhospitable lands, barren lands with little life. Perhaps that's why there was no way to find a Squonk in Zanda. He must have felt too sad and scared, faced with so much loneliness, aridity, and the absence of life, walking alone at twilight in a strange and gloomy place. Possibly the sadness generated by such an inhospitable place made him start to cry, and as the legend of the Squonk says... he disappeared due to that ability that Squonks have to dissolve into their own tears when they are cornered, scared, or sad. We'll have to go somewhere else to find a Squonk, perhaps in... Los Endos. Los Endos sounds like a word reminiscent of a Mexican border town. A small Mexican town that is a refuge for an evil band of outlaws who have the entire population terrified and scared. There is no life or people in the streets; everyone is kept indoors, fearful. A place with a name typical of a spaghetti western film plot shot in Almería in the Tabernas Desert and with a soundtrack by Ennio Morricone. Soon John Wayne will appear, who always fixes everything. The word and the song Los Endos by Génesis mean nothing; it has no translation. They simply tried to use the term "End" to title the last song on the album, "A Trick of the Tail." It could be something like Spanishifying the term "End." Surely Los Endos are somewhere where the world ends, where no one has gone, where our lost Squonk cries... at the end of the world. We'll have to go find our Squonk at... Los Endos.

Tapir - T. terrestrial - Male - Wild - at Pantanal - The South American tapir, also commonly called the Brazilian tapir, the Amazonian tapir, the maned tapir, the lowland tapir, the anta, and la sachavaca, is one of the four recognized species in the tapir family. It is the largest surviving native terrestrial mammal in the Amazon. Vulnerable.
T. terrestris is an excellent swimmer and diver, but also moves quickly on land, even over rugged, mountainous terrain. It has a life span of approximately 25 to 30 years. In the wild, its main predators are crocodilians (only the black caiman and Orinoco crocodile, the latter of which is critically endangered, are large enough to take these tapirs, as the American crocodile only exists in the northern part of South America) and large cats, such as the jaguar and cougar, which often attack tapirs at night when tapirs leave the water and sleep on the riverbank. The South American tapir is also attacked by the green anaconda (Eunectes murinus). T. terrestris is known to run to water when scared to take cover.
The South American tapir can attain a body length of 1.8 to 2.5 m (5.9 to 8.2 ft) with a 5 to 10 cm (2.0 to 3.9 in) short stubby tail and an average weight around 225 kg (496 lb). Adult weight has been reported ranging from 150 to 320 kg (330 to 710 lb). It stands somewhere between 77 to 108 cm (30 to 43 in) at the shoulder.

Jack Frost came by and left his signature. I thought it looked like a tree lol. We have terrible old windows in our garage but come winter time they sure do help with photos. :) I enjoy capturing frost formations so you will likely see more in the future. Taken with my iPhone because I was too lazy to go back into the house to get my DSLR because I would have had to take my snowy boots off. :D

A very unusual (for me) MM contribution in quite a few ways, because it is a photo that I have neither taken at home nor specifically for the "dutch angle" theme – this fluffy feather was a chance discovery at last Wednesday's (fabuloutastic, I should add) photowalk at the Olympic stadium; I didn't even think about the theme when I found this pretty feather in a corner of a step of one of the many, many staircases there. And of course this isn't the photo from that walk that I'd planned to upload first, either ;-). But often things don't turn out as expected (something which happens a lot lately when it comes to MMs), and that's not always a bad thing.
This small feather, about 6 cm / 2,3 inches long, came to my rescue when my original idea didn't work out – which every way I tried to make it work (it was a small spoke reflector which I'd once found in the street; the idea was to capture its distorted reflection which made it look like a flowing piece of honeycomb, something that came to my mind because of the reflector's honeycombed structure; well, to make it short, I never managed to get the distorted reflection sharp enough so it would be pleasant to look at; maybe I can still make it work later... I also tried to magnify those honecomb patterns inside of the reflector by using the extension tubes and the Raynox DCR-250 close-up lens – but, no, it wasn't meant to work).
But back to my "Olympic feather": Most conveniently, I had already taken it at a dutch angle (Mr Freud, can you hear me?). It is a single handheld picture taken with the Ricoh (the GRIII rocks!) which I've sharpened in Topaz Sharpen AI, and then further processed it in Nik's HDR Efex Pro – I started with the "En Vogue" preset "Cool Deep" which I'd then still tweaked a little here or there. And because the staircase I'd found this feather on had been in a shadowy corner of the stadium (and the feather in an even more shadowy corner of the step), the DNG outcome was rather dull; to add some much needed light I went into ON1 where I added a "Sunflare" texture filter to the upper left corner of the image; back in LR I added the preset "Soft Fog" and tweaked the luminosity and saturation sliders for a dreamy look.

Nicht das, was ich eigentlich für's Thema machen wollte, aber das passiert mir in letzter Zeit häufiger ;-) Meine ursprüngliche Idee war es, die verzerrte Spiegelung eines kleinen Speichenreflektors (ein Straßenfund) auf einer Spiegelfliese zu fotografieren; die Verzerrung ließ den Reflektor wie ein fließendes Stück Honigwabe aussehen, was auch schön mit der wabenartigen Struktur des Reflektors korrespondierte – nur wollte es mir partout nicht gelingen, der Verzerrung zumindest ein wenig Schärfe abzuringen. Ich habe dann versucht, die Wabenstruktur im Innern des Reflektors mithilfe der Zwischenringe und der Raynox-DCR-250-Makrolinse zu vergrößern, aber auch hier hatten die Endergebnisse zu wenig Schärfe.
Irgendwann, es war schon ziemlich später Abend (wie immer), gab ich frustriert auf. Zum Glück fiel mir dann die flauschige Feder ein, die ich letzte Woche zufällig auf einer der unzähligen Stufen des Olympiastadions entdeckt und aus der Hand mit der GRIII fotografiert hatte. Die Größe (gut 6 cm) passte, den Winkel hatte ich bei der Aufnahme (unbewusst? Freud lässt grüßen, denn vor Ort hatte ich überhaupt nicht an das Dutch-Angle-Thema gedacht) auch schon passend schräg gewählt... Warum also nicht, auch wenn diese Feder nicht das Foto ist, das ich als Erstes vom (außerordentlich schönen) Fotowalk dort hochladen wollte. Ich habe das Bild dann in Topaz Sharpen AI nachgeschärft (Modus "Stabilize") und in HDR Efex ausgehend von der Voreinstellung "En Vogue: Cool Deep" bearbeitet. Was dann noch fehlte, war etwas mehr Licht bzw. Leuchten, denn die Feder hatte auf einer der Treppen auf der Schattenseite des Olympiastadions gelegen und das DNG war recht flau und trüb. Also habe ich in ON1 noch eine "Sunflare"-Textur drübergelegt und in LR die Weißtöne aufgehellt und als Abschluss noch die Voreinstellung "Weicher Nebel" (mit zusätzlichen Veränderungen meinerseits bei der Struktur, Luminanz und Sättigung) für ein weicheres, verträumtes Aussehen verwendet.
Manchmal kommt es eben anders, als man denkt, aber das muss ja nichts Schlechtes sein ;-) Ich wünsche Euch eine schöne Woche, liebe Flickr-Freunde, passt weiterhin gut auf Euch auf!

"The red phalarope or grey phalarope (Phalaropus fulicarius) is a small wader. This phalarope breeds in the Arctic regions of North America and Eurasia. It is migratory, and, unusually for a wader, migrates mainly on oceanic routes, wintering at sea on tropical oceans.
The typical avian sex roles are reversed in the three phalarope species. Females are larger and more brightly coloured than males. The females pursue males, compete for nesting territory, and will aggressively defend their nests and chosen mates. Once the females lay their olive-brown eggs, they begin their southward migration, leaving the males to incubate the eggs and care for the young. Three to six eggs are laid in a ground nest near water. Incubation lasts 18 or 19 days. The young mainly feed themselves and are able to fly within 18 days of birth.
The red phalarope is about 21 cm (8.3 in) in length, with lobed toes and a straight bill, somewhat thicker than that of red-necked phalarope. The breeding female is predominantly dark brown and black above, with red underparts and white cheek patches. The bill is yellow, tipped black. The breeding male is a duller version of the female. Young birds are light grey and brown above, with buff underparts and a dark patch through the eye. In winter, the plumage is essentially grey above and white below, but the black eyepatch is always present. The bill is black in winter.
When feeding, a red phalarope will often swim in a small, rapid circle, forming a small whirlpool. This behaviour is thought to aid feeding by raising food from the bottom of shallow water. The bird will reach into the outskirts of the vortex with its bill, plucking small insects or crustaceans caught up therein. They sometimes fly up to catch insects in flight. On the open ocean, they are found in areas where converging ocean currents produce upwellings and are often found near groups of whales. Outside of the nesting season they often travel in flocks."

Today's set of pictures is going to explore some of the details in this fascinating temple. This is not a temple that most tourists would ever get to see because it is in a part of the city where few venture. Yet I found it one of the most fascinating I have been to and all the better for having it to myself!
The famous lighthouse on Denmark's west coast has an exciting history. Inaugurated in 1900, it was hit by a shifting dune just ten years later. In 1968, the lighthouse had to stop operating because its light could no longer be seen from the sea. In 2012, the shifting dune completely passed the lighthouse and has been moving north ever since. However, the sea was now increasingly becoming a threat to the lighthouse. There was a risk that it could tip over if it crashed onto the coast. Therefore, it was moved 70 meters inland in 2019.

The turkey vulture (Cathartes aura) is the most widespread of the New World vultures.One of three species in the genus Cathartes of the family Cathartidae, the turkey vulture ranges from southern Canada to the southernmost tip of South America. It inhabits a variety of open and semi-open areas, including subtropical forests, shrub lands, pastures, and deserts.
Like all New World vultures, it is not closely related to the Old World vultures of Europe, Africa, and Asia. The two groups strongly resemble each other because of convergent evolution; natural selection often leads to similar body plans in animals that adapt independently to similar conditions.
The turkey vulture is a scavenger and feeds almost exclusively on carrion. It finds its food using its keen eyes and sense of smell, flying low enough to detect the gasses produced by the beginnings of the process of decay in dead animals.[3] In flight, it uses thermals to move through the air, flapping its wings infrequently. It roosts in large community groups. Lacking a syrinx—the vocal organ of birds—its only vocalizations are grunts or low hisses. It nests in caves, hollow trees, or thickets. Each year it generally raises two chicks, which it feeds by regurgitation. It has very few natural predators.
In the United States, the vulture receives legal protection under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.

Because she has such good camouflage, it often feels like Camille appeared out of nowhere when she is suddenly beside me in the garden.
I had to walk off of the golf course because of back pain so I grabbed my camera and went for a walk. Watching these little goslings more than made up for missing out on my golf.
Because blue tits form pairs and defend their territory, they were considered a symbol of marital fidelity in some regions. A nesting pair of tits in the garden was seen as a good omen for a stable family.

I've snapped plenty of shots of this farm in my high-speed travels with my Hubby, but I think this is one of my favorites...
