"The red phalarope or grey phalarope (Phalaropus fulicarius) is a small wader. This phalarope breeds in the Arctic regions of North America and Eurasia. It is migratory, and, unusually for a wader, migrates mainly on oceanic routes, wintering at sea on tropical oceans.

The typical avian sex roles are reversed in the three phalarope species. Females are larger and more brightly coloured than males. The females pursue males, compete for nesting territory, and will aggressively defend their nests and chosen mates. Once the females lay their olive-brown eggs, they begin their southward migration, leaving the males to incubate the eggs and care for the young. Three to six eggs are laid in a ground nest near water. Incubation lasts 18 or 19 days. The young mainly feed themselves and are able to fly within 18 days of birth.

The bird will reach into the outskirts of the vortex with its bill, plucking small insects or crustaceans caught up therein. They sometimes fly up to catch insects in flight. On the open ocean, they are found in areas where converging ocean currents produce upwellings and are often found near groups of whales. Outside of the nesting season they often travel in flocks."

Because of the freeze warning, this cactus in my garden gained styrofoam cups... 🎄

She's a little House Finch... and, I have no clue if she is as melodic as Mr. Chirpy... but we call them Mr. and Mrs. Chirpy... because one of them sings beautiful songs. You can hear them a mile away... all through the winter too. They stick around even during the horrible cold weather.

They are very busy right now... I assume they are building nests. They come and go to the water basin throughout the day and hang out for about half an hour in the evenings... sitting in the lilac branches and hopping up and down to the basin... sipping lots of water. Building is thirsty work.

Tapir - T. terrestrial - Male - Wild - at Pantanal - The South American tapir, also commonly called the Brazilian tapir, the Amazonian tapir, the maned tapir, the lowland tapir, the anta, and la sachavaca, is one of the four recognized species in the tapir family. It is the largest surviving native terrestrial mammal in the Amazon. Vulnerable.

T. terrestris is an excellent swimmer and diver, but also moves quickly on land, even over rugged, mountainous terrain. It has a life span of approximately 25 to 30 years. In the wild, its main predators are crocodilians (only the black caiman and Orinoco crocodile, the latter of which is critically endangered, are large enough to take these tapirs, as the American crocodile only exists in the northern part of South America) and large cats, such as the jaguar and cougar, which often attack tapirs at night when tapirs leave the water and sleep on the riverbank. The South American tapir is also attacked by the green anaconda (Eunectes murinus). T. terrestris is known to run to water when scared to take cover.

The South American tapir can attain a body length of 1.8 to 2.5 m (5.9 to 8.2 ft) with a 5 to 10 cm (2.0 to 3.9 in) short stubby tail and an average weight around 225 kg (496 lb). Adult weight has been reported ranging from 150 to 320 kg (330 to 710 lb). It stands somewhere between 77 to 108 cm (30 to 43 in) at the shoulder.

I am a little behind on my 52 week challenge, but I'm getting it done as soon as I can! I've been quite busy! I have been staying steady on my 52Frames (because it's a countdown, I have to! Or I'll break my streak.. *ohh the pressure lol*)

I'm going to catch up as soon as I can. I have to do my 52Frames soon, and it's "PORTRAIT" & extra credit is "Rembrandt Lighting" - so we'll see if I get it done with the extra credit.. but either way I'll have a portrait for them by Sunday!

I've been VERY stressed out lately too, but I've been doing A LOT of praying and self reflection, and I know that it's all going to be okay. I'm remaining positive, even though sometimes it can be VERY HARD. (No worries, I'm fine! Everything is going to work out, in the right time!)

I took quite a few different photos that I could use for this one, however.. this sign has been in my mind ever since I heard of the subject.. I took this photo on the way home from the store, and I ended up choosing this one to use.

I really love the sign underneath, about the deaf cat.. It's so unique.

I hope that you all are doing well! I have a photo shoot to do tomorrow morning (PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY for an upcoming website)- I'm excited! I'll post a photo to show you guys what I come up with.. Although I'll probably have a few good ones, I'm sure!

This GIANT wild stallion known as Centuro decided his newest little foal named Chardonay was not behaving appropriately as he wandered to close to horses from another band. Centuro quickly went after him, nipping his hind quarters to move him away. The poor little foal was as startled as I was~ Not a good photo as I was not ready for this action but since it showed another behavior of the wild horses I decided to post it. Love Chardonany's expression … and, yes, he got the heck away from the other horses. LOL

I'm feeling the flood, the flood of a lot of work.

It feels like a thousand ants under my skin , the blood rushing, the heart running.

I should go out now for a minimum of one hour, a night walk. I should.

But maybe I only dress me for my ergometer...

But I try to walk as much as possible.

I prefer to start work a little later, because the end is alwasys open, every day.

Last night I had a good sleep.
