My little guy came home from school with a fever and a sore throat. Thank Goodness he has had his H1N1 shot. I don't have any ice cream or ice pops in the house and thought that Jello might slid down his throat easily. I added mixed fruit to the bottom layer to try and get some nutrients into him.
My older son reminded me that the scavenger hunt called for an item to do something creative with Jello. Not my best effort, but should satisfy the requirements for item 16,

For the first time since 2009, the Oscar Smith Tigers have won a season opener against an out-of-state opponent.
It certainly hasn’t hurt the Tigers, because they’ve made it to the state championship game each of the last three seasons. This win means that they still have a shot at an undefeated season.
Oscar Smith elected to defer after winning the coin flip, meaning that they kicked off to the Titans to start the game. On the first play from scrimmage, West Forsyth running back G’mone Wilson had the ball stripped from him at the Titan 20.
With less than two minutes into the game, Tigers running back Joe Bray barreled off tackle to the left to score on a 6-yard touchdown run the start the scoring.
Enabled by a few key penalties, the Titans were able to sustain a drive that resulted in a short touchdown pass over the middle that tied the score at 7.
Oscar Smith shrugged off the West Forsyth touchdown and scored their second touchdown on an Aaron Acevedo 4-yard run. The Tigers scored again on a Cam’Ron Kelly keeper in the second quarter and went into the locker room at halftime with a 21-7 lead.
The third quarter took what seemed like an eternity. Oscar Smith added a 24-yard Austin Benoit field goal and the game was looking out of reach for the Titans at 24-7. After another failed Titan drive, the Tigers started their second drive of the second half near their 20. A fumbled hand off by Kelly was scooped by defensive end Jaden Pledger and he scored on the return of 18 yards, making the score 24-13 after the point after snap was misfired.
Smith answered with one of Cam’Ron Kelly’s many brilliant passes on the day, this one a high-pointed, fingertip catch by wide out Jarius Howard for a 38-yard touchdown. Austin Benoit added another field goal before the end of the quarter to extend the Tiger lead to 34-13.
West Forsyth outscored Oscar Smith 13-7 in what amounted to garbage time in the fourth quarter in order finish with a 41-26 loss that wasn’t as close as the scoreboard would indicate.
Cam’Ron Kelly finished the game with five completed passes in nine attempts with 146 yards and a touchdown, plus he added 40 yards rushing and a touchdown. The scoring was well distributed for the Tigers with Joe Bray getting touchdown runs of six yards and 12 yards. Aaron Acevedo scored on a four-yard run.

The Lady slipper is endangered in some areas because they take a long time to grow, and because people collect them.
Because of the lighting and reflective surfaces in here (and maybe my exposures were a bit off) most of my photos of this place look much more HDR-ish than I'd like.

TUTU (Coriaria arborea).
A plant that has attracted much attention because of its poisonous properties is tutu, a shrub growing, at most, to a height of about 20 ft. It occurs in shrubland and in open places in coastal and montane forest throughout New Zealand and the Chatham Islands. It often comes in profusely on cuttings running through damp forest. It is a straggling plant, much branched from the base and with four-angled branches. The leaves are opposite and on slender stems, the whole looking like a pinnate leaf. Each leaf is 1–3 in. long, about broad-ovate and acute. The small flowers are arranged in drooping racemes, 6 in. or more in length. The petals, later juicy and purplish-black, embrace the fruit.
The poisonous principle is a toxin, tutin, which occurs in all parts of the plant except the fleshy petals. Tutu has been responsible for the greatest percentage of stock poisoning by plants in New Zealand. Sheep and cattle are mostly affected. Occasionally poisoning of human beings by honey has been attributed to the honeydew from tutu which has been collected by bees. The genus Coriaria is the only one of the family Coriariaceae. There are about 30 species, mostly shrubs, found in southern Europe, eastern Asia, south and central America, and New Zealand where there are seven other species besides that of C. arborea. Most of these are small shrubs with small leaves. C. plumosa, for example, is a prostrate plant under a foot high with leaves a fraction of an inch long only.

As the result of the archaeological excavations that started in Bergama in 1878 under the direction of Carl Humman and Alexander Conze, a depot museum has been constructed near the German Excavation House of today during the excavations made in the acropolis between the years 1900 - 1913. This depot is one of the two archaeological opus depots that existed in Turkey at that time. The excavations in Bergama, which were interrupted because of the 1st World War, were re - started under the direction of Theodor Wiegand. In the same year, with the start of the excavations in Asklepieion in addition to the acropolis excavations, the number of opuses has increased and a new museum building was needed.
Marshall Fevzi Çakmak, who came to Bergama in 1932 has closely interested with the issue and ordered the foundation of a new museum after his visit. For the new building that was planned to be constructed with Turkish - German cooperation, the location of today which is an old cemetrey has been found appropriate. The project that was prepared by the architects Bruno Meyer and Harold Hanson was completed at the end of 1932 and the works for base excavation were started in 1933 with the formal request of the governor of İzmir, Kazım Dirik. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who visited Asklepieion, which was a health centre, during his visit to Bergama on April 13th 1934, has seen that the construction of the museum building was continuing.
Bergama museum, whose construction has been completed, was opened for visit on October 30th 1936 by the governor of İzmir, Fazlı Güleç. The museum building consisted of a large rectangular courtyard surrounded with galleries, and a rectangular exhibition hall behind this courtyard. Since the galleries of the courtyard were suitable for open - air museum, the opuses were exhibited there. When Ethnography and Archaeology Museum was taken into operation in Bergama Public House building in 1924, the archaeological opuses were taken to the new museum building. The ethnographic opuses were taken into the museum building of today in 1979 after the construction of the additional building. The additional building has a rectangular plan placed beside the part, in which the courtyard and exhibition hall exist, its entrance is provided via a door opening from the courtyard to the hall. Units such as depot, laboratory, photograph room, archive have been added to the other side of the museum which was left empty and to its rear part.
Most of the archaeological opuses in the museum, which belong to various periods from early bronze era to the Byzantine Period, have been found in the excavations made in Bergama and its surrounding. Among the finds found in the archaic residences around, samples belonging to Pergfamon sculpture school, Archaic Period finds coming from Pitane and Gryneion, Myrina terracotta draw attention. In the ethnography section, carpets, kilims of the region (Yuntdağ, Yağcıbedir, Kozak, Bergama weavings), cloth weaving samples, hand works and other hand made opuses belonging to other regions of Anatolia are exhibited

Brief History of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe
The well authenticated story of the five apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary is briefly related here:
1st Apparition: At dawn on December 9, 1531, Juan Diego, an Indian convert, was going to Tlatelolco to attend catechism class and hear the Mass. As he was passing Tepeyac Hill, he saw a brilliant light on the summit and heard the strains of celestial music. Filled with wonder, he stopped. Then he heard a feminine voice asking him to ascend. When he reached the top he saw the Blessed Virgin Mary standing in the midst of a glorious light, in heavenly splendor. The beauty of her youthful countenance and her look of loving kindness filled Juan Diego with unspeakable happiness as he listened to the words which she spoke to him in his native language. She told him she was the perfect and eternal Virgin Mary, Mother of the true God, and made known to him her desire that a shrine be built there where she could demonstrate her love, her compassion and her protection. "For I am your merciful Mother", she said, "to you and to all mankind who love me and trust in me and invoke my help. Therefore, go to the dwelling of the Bishop in Mexico City and say that the Virgin Mary sent you to make known to him her great desire."
2nd Apparition: The Bishop was reluctant to believe Juan Diego's story. Juan returned to Tepeyac Hill where he found the Blessed Virgin waiting for him, and told her of his failure. She bade him return to the Bishop the next day and repeat her wishes.
3rd Apparition: The Bishop then requested that the Lady give him a sign. Juan reported that evening and she promised to grant his petition on the following morning. But Juan was prevented from coming because of a sudden and severe illness of his uncle, Juan Bernardino.
4th Apparition: Two days later, on December 12, as he was going to the Church at Tlatelolco in order to bring a priest to his dying uncle, Juan Diego was stopped by the Lady, who had come down from Tepeyac Hill to meet him in the road. She listened quietly to Juan's excuse for not having kept his appointment with her the day before. When he had finished speaking she said, "It is well, littlest and dearest of my sons, but now listen to me. Do not let anything afflict you and be not afraid of illness or pain. Am I not here who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Are you not in the crossing of my arms? Is there anything else you need? Do not fear for your uncle for he is not going to die. Be assured... he is already well."
Having heard these words, Juan Diego rejoiced and asked for the sign he was to take to the Bishop. He was told to climb to the top of the hill where she had spoken to him on three previous occasions. She said he would find many flowers blooming there which he was to cut and bring to her. Juan Diego did as he was told though he knew no flowers had ever bloomed before on the stony summit. He discovered a marvelous garden of dew-fresh blossoms which he cut as she had asked. Placing them in his rough cloak, or tilma, he brought the flowers to the Lady who rearranged them and told him to take them to the Bishop; that this was the sign to persuade him to carry out her wishes.

Because of severe flooding authorities closed a number of main roads Saturday December 13, 2025 in Kent Washington.. Some motorists misbehave, ignore road closure signs and get stuck. A driver watches and motors through relatively shallow flood waters while a semi tractor is mired in deeper water behind him.

today, because it was the last day before school starts, we loaded up extra kids and headed out to one of my favorite places, where we could all breathe easier, explore the world around us, and get wet.
it was just what we all needed. i sometimes forget how good it is to get OUT.
right now, i am trying so hard to prepare us for the busy of school. to ease into it by being prepared, by doing some planning. so far, so good.
"The Big Reach" is art because it is a photograph of a sunflower reaching toward the non-existant sun at the hour the photo was taken. The position of the sunflower in the night is ironic because of its reach toward the sky even though it lacks the necessary nutrition that the flower needs at this time of day.
The reaction that the artist requires of the viewer is viewing the subject in a new perspective rather than the traditional aerial view. Because sunflowers are so tall, it is hard to get this perspective but it is important to view each part of the flowering plant. Each part of the plant (the leaves, the stem) make the beautiful flower bloom. This art changes depending on your perspective because as the viewer moves from left to right and top to bottom as new perspective is found whether it be the view of the flower itself of a leaf of the plant. The falling leaves are like a staircase toward a heaven that the flower represents.
I just love this picture because (1) I love flowers and (2) the metaphors that can be made from the photograph itself.

Hundreds of people rallied and marched in the Trans and Queer Liberation + Immigrant Solidarity Protest in downtown Boston. The organizers statemnt reads:
We say: “Trump and his people are extremely and viciously anti-LGBTQ. They have already done great harm to Queer and Trans immigrants, Muslims, undocuqueer people, incarcerated folks, Black people, Native QT and Two-Spirit people through EOs on Muslim ban, border wall, pipelines. They’re denying millions of QT people access to health care by dismantling ACA. Neil Gorsuch, their supreme court nominee, will be a disaster for QT people. They are threatening voter ID laws to disenfranchise millions of already marginalized people. They want to spread Stop and Frisk everywhere and give police more power when they already are killing Black & Brown people every day. They want a so-called ‘religious exemption’ to nondiscrimination that is really a license for bigotry.Trump is reinvigorating and incentivizing a long-standing program that deputizes local authorities to enforce federal immigration law, regardless of Sanctuary City status. My current photos have been kind of boring - even to me :) I decided to upload this old on I found hanging out on my hard drive :)
Because of a scheduling blip (ours), we had to wait two hours in Strasbourg for a train to Paris. We went into a cafe across from the station. The owner said he had no kitchen help so he couldn't serve us food. Andy wanted to take a quick walk around central Strasbourg, so to give ourselves time for it we opted for a quick snack at this McCafe instead.
