As you can tell by the blood on this Coopers Hawks talons and beak, this true predator, and swift hunter, quickly eats his prey, (a Pidgeon), I know because I watched the whole thing, and then vanishes in plain flight.
Dublin, California.
And let go... because yes life gets busy, but we all need to set aside some time for ourselves 🙏

Sixth instalment of the #StillFlickring project! Every 2 weeks, each of us in the group (Liisa, Havard, Savannah, Laura, Jana, Brittany, Christian, Sophie and Ethan) will challenge another to re-create an older self portrait dated back 2013 or earlier. It’s a way for us to see how far we’ve come as artists and how we’d interpret the concept today 💙💗
This round the ever so talented Laura picked my shot! I was 19 when I took the original 😲 It was an experimental shot then and an experimental shot now haha! Hope you like it. I have another shot without the flower that I nearly posted but I followed advice and posted this one. I’ll show you guys on my story soon. Anyway, I’d love to hear interpretations of you have any ☺️
Because I have no respect for this character, here's the old legend himself, back once again to haunt your nightmares lol
This is an entry to The FUDGY's contest btw
I really like photographing fireworks, perhaps because I get to do it so infrequently. The last time was two and a half years ago at our town's Canada Day celebration.
However, this year, out there in the township, they had a New Years Eve display. This was the biggest burst that I caught, and perhaps the biggest that I saw.
I love how they also lit up the buildings, including the old schoolhouse on the right.

Arti et Amicitiae (downstairs in the society)

'Because you said ostrich' is the title of the central piece of the second wall, a painting by Cozue Endoh, an artist who lives and works in Japan and whose direct work I admire. I know her through flickr, like so many other artists, whom I never would have met otherwise, and whose work is now, with works of other fellow artists, in this exhibition in Arti et Amicitiae. *)
The theme of this wall is the human brain. Thoughts, feelings and phantasies can change all the time and can go into all directions. Mine do, anyway.
*) Maatschappij Arti et Amicitiae is a society for the arts, founded in 1839. This association unites visual artists and art lovers at an impressive building on the Rokin in the centre of Amsterdam. The building houses private meeting areas for the society that date back to the 19th century, as well as monumental exhibition spaces. The interior design was done by architect Berlage.
The society’s aim is to support the interests of the artists, as well as to promote the arts as a whole. The society now has roughly 1550 members, about 550 of which are artists. The additional members are art lovers and supporters of the arts. Through the year, Maatschappij Arti et Amicitiae exhibits work from its members, with a special focus on new members at the beginning of each year.

Because the sunset sets behind the Teton Range, most Alpenglow depends on light coming through the valleys from behind. This varies by date, as the sun moves between the summer and winter solstices. This was a week after fall equinox.
Rockchuck Peak.
Just because I got a bit miffed on mods/admin decisions I started a night photo group. So if anyone wants, they can check it out, I try to keep it fairly loose for now.

...because the elegance of the Shard has nothing to do with a walkie talkie shaped skyscraper that must be covered to avoid melting cars...

I "Don't" adore you because.... of your obsessive need to reenact every World War on my arms and legs, without warning or provocation. Thus always causing scarred tissue and much loss of blood!
NOR because of.... The continual turf wars between you and the local Cat-Gang members, who walk by the house. Which activates your internal security alarms. Causing you to wake up the family (and neighbors) with your Death Calls Warnings at 3am in the morning.
Not even because of.... Your obsessive compulsive dissorder and pure hatred of all things on shelves, tables and walls! Thus explaining the mysteries on how things inexplicably leap to their doom and imminent destruction!
And FINALLY I don't adore you because of.... Your senseless warmongering and hateful rage against so many innocent victims!
Let's now take a moment to remember all those we've lost this last year... RIP my Cargo pants (riped by Toby), My favorite cardigan and 2 sweaters (also mauld by Toby), My FLICKR hardcover photobook (gift to mom...bitten to death), A livingroom cushion, 3 long sleeves shirts (victims of world war reenactments), 2 hand painted paintings of mine (damaged from fatal leaps off walls caused my Toby), A bag of spaghetti and 1 frozen streak!
I "DO" adore you because... Every morning I wake up and find a different toy, teddy or new found treasure found from the night before. Nicely placed at the foot of my bedroom door as a gift from you.
I ADORE you because... When I ask you if you were a Good-Boy. You look-up at me and softly assure me with a gentil meow. And proceed to affectionally head-bump my legs to reassure me.
And because.... Everytime I leave you, you run to the window and watch and wait for me to come home. And when I do... Your the first to greet me at the door, with a cuddle and a frantic scratching on my feet, as to say... "You will always be mine"!
And finally... I LOVE you because at night without a whisper of a wind. Or an once of a sound... You slither under the blankets and snuggle up to my body for warmth. And lovingly purr yourself to sleep in complete contentment!
Your my little buddy Toby and I love and adore you!! (even when your a pain in my back-side!! Silly cat :-)
Thank-you to anyone who managed to read all this, I realise it's a little long. I wrote this simply because tomorrow's his birthday and I was feeling sentimental. I'll post his official b-day picture tomorrow...till then)
Because I still have film to share from this beautiful place.

Because of the encouragement from so many kind people here on flickr, I will finally be making my creations available on etsy this month. Excited and scared are two words that immediately come to mind!
Before then, you can find me and my jewelry at the Friday night bazaar at next week's Integrity Toys' convention in Chicago.
I'll also be bringing some handmade items from a few of those encouraging friends to the convention as well. More details and a sneak peek photo to come (as soon as my last package of items arrives!).
Thank you again to all of you who have shared encouraging words and have even asked for a few preview pieces for their dolls. It's been exciting and confidence-building to see my handmade items in your beautiful photos!
A sincere thank you.
Because the trees were so high the light was low enough that I was able to get some long-enough exposures without using a filter using my 24-105 lens.
Bridesmaid's Falls at Bushkill Falls in Pennsylvania in July. There were two falls called Bridesmaid's Falls, which confused me, but then, I guess most brides have several bridesmaids, right? The hills and stairs were steep and I stopped lots to get photos so I didn't notice how hard the climb was on my legs till my calves were "seized up" the next day Although we had been trying to do as much walking and hiking as possible, there is no way to avoid too much sitting on a 3 1/2 week road trip so by the time we got to PA I was craving some exercise. I wish I was closer and could go back to Bushkill in the fall; I bet it is glorious in autumn colors.
because sometimes the only inspiration you have time for is the blue glitter eyeliner in your makeup drawer and a Regina Spektor song. my cat thought this was very fun and kept playing with the water as it dripped from my mouth. she is a big fat weirdo.
A group of Trandoshans hunters gathered on the plant to enjoy their favorite hobby: hunting down Wookiee prisoners. Preferably unarmed Wookiees because it’s not so “fun” when the prey shoots back (I never liked Trandoshans).
According to their “traditions” the group of ten Trandoshans brought the unarmed Wookiee prisoner to this planet where they started their little twisted show.
However on the planet there is another hunter. Someone who came here to track down a prey worth of legend and he is not pleased by the cowardice of these “Space Lizards”.
The Predator tracks down the Trandoshans, killing the dishonorable hunters one by one.
As the Space Lizards meet their demise the Wookiee enjoys his staying on the planet.
Sometimes very good things come from crossovers and the Wookiee is very pleased by this particular one.
The Predator is one of the action figures by Neca based on the Predator Dark Horse Comics.
I hope you like this photo :)
Because the humidity level has been high in Sacramento, I set the alarm early on a weekend morning hoping for misty conditions along the American River. Sacramento Bar, near my house, had a beautiful touch of mist as the sun rose and illuminated the autumn foliage.
This is not my best protest photo but in a city where ICE is cracking down in force, I could not risk outing someone who could be put in a camp/deported just to put a more personal human element into a movement. There's a whole set of photos like that you can refer to if you really want. I'm not posting this because it's a good photo (it isn't) I'm posting this because it's a reminder that we all have a choice to say no to corruption and to say yes to human rights. We must do these both simultaneously and with every molecule in our body.
I wanted to talk a little bit about what is happening in America right now. If you did not already know, there have been even more for profit concentration camps set up for people who have come here fleeing persecution, seeking a better life. This is an abomination paid for by our tax dollars and many of our politicians are invested in these camps, making money to inevitably fund their next campaigns and the viciousness continues and profit over people continues to be the theme. We've lost our souls.
I don't know how to be more hopeful. The good people in this country, the 70% of us are being held hostage against our wills by a hostile treasonous fascist who literally doesn't even know they didn't have airports back in 1776, an idiot who couldn't pass preschool and yet, the fact that he is a serial rapist and a treasonous coward is even worse. He is an unforgivable murderer. If he truly represents America, all I have left instead of my patriotism is true horror for what this country has become.
These deaths are on our hands. Their blood is on our consciousness. It is a gift to receive an immigrant. And all these people who are pro death camps all happen to call themselves "pro life" It's laughable. They just merely want to control women's bodies.
Every day, I wake up a little more hopeless and helpless, I have to be honest. Over the last three years, I've been to protests downtown, in airports, I've called congresspeople in multiple states, donated money to progressives, signed too many petitions to count, done phone banking, and tried to be a genuinely kind person to all in my every day interactions.
Above all is the narrative stream in my mind, is the kindness enough? Is it? I don't know. I really don't know. Is kindness greater than greed, greater than all the blood money? Is it? Because people have been protesting since the 1960s for basic human rights, for an end to racial discrimination and for universal healthcare, for equal rights among the sexes and for the LGBTQ community, for an end to war and look where we are right now. It's hard to believe that anything any of us non billionaires do make a difference.
But I do know this and I believe this...they want us to be as complacent as possible, to get us numbed with constant breaking news, to gaslight us into believe that when Trump says he'd collude again that's totally fine and not surprising at all. They want us to stay at home, do nothing, turn on the tv, have a pint of whiskey to numb our pain-that sort of thing. That's what they are banking on. Whatever you do, live as a light in the darkness. If it makes no difference in the grand scheme, at least you tried.
But, I bet it will make a difference to someone.

Because the weather feels autumnal and because I was going through my photos from last year I came back to this one. I left it untouched as I couldn't get quite what I wanted. With a couple of tweaks I got it exactly how I envisaged it...
-- because splash shots are just so much fun to do. Also, I'm totally out of ideas.
You gotta see the Big Slash on Black
Antonia was born in the Karlsruhe Zoo on November 24, 1989, but was rejected by her mother, and she was raised by hand. Until October 22, 1990 she remained in Karlsruhe. From 22 October 1990 to 25 September 1991, she lived in the Stuttgart Zoo. Since 25 September 1991 it has been held in the ZOOM world of experience.
Antonia is a dwarfish polar bear of 70 centimeters height. The dwarfism is probably a genetic defect or a malfunction of the metabolism. After the zoo has opened up the adventure world of Alaska, she lives in an extra enclosure, because she would be hopelessly underlay during ranking fight because of her size to a normal-grown polar bear.
Antonia is the smallest polar bear that is kept in a zoo world-wide, and for years has been one of the favorites in the ZOOM world of experience
