A couple of weeks ago we had a macro monday theme of “in ice” and when the ice cubes melted, there was a dish full of tiny photo props sitting on the counter. Later I discovered this tableau - a turtle drinking a mug of coffee and the blue bird of happiness honoring a garland bedecked Buddha. She’s such fun to have around.
because it needs to be prayed for.

Because it's slippery around there...
This is the crack at Davenport, CA. Photographers who have their act together usually have the sun setting at the point where the crack meets the ocean. Me? Not so much.
Because the settlement expands quickly, roads need to be build.
Another Build for "9 Kingdoms" at Rogue Bricks.
Because it is unusual to see one of these in the daylight, I am posting several photos of this Barn Owl at Matsqui Trail, Abbotsford, B.C.
Heading round Bearha and towards Kenmare the views to the west are beautiful when you've just come over the col. This is the border between County Cork and Kerry. Apparently bodies ( in coffins, presumably ) were carried up from County Cork during the Great Famine for burial in Kerry - because there was more space in the graveyards (??) ..
Well friends, I am a bit sad tonight. My dragonflies were not out in full force like normal...hmmm...makes ya wonder. This is one of just a few shots that I got. I guess sometimes are great sometimes you just wonder where they all went. I spent a lengthy amount of time following this guy and do you know.....he NEVER landed in a spot to get a super clear view. I was fighting with the grass the whole time. Whatever happened to them landing on the perfect flower for the pretty shot...hmmm? Saying all that...I had to vent I guess, I have realized that even though this was all I got out of a trip....it was enough.
I could have left with absolutely nothing... but that would have been ok....because I went. You just never know until you go what blessing you will find~
... BUT NOT BECAUSE OF RAIN!
It's supposed to be in the 3-digits this weekend!
Wishing you all a very Happy and a Blessed weekend! I hope the weather where you are is much better!
Thank you so much for the visit and for the kind comments and favs! They are very much appreciated!
Monday Morning Funny #43 - Because Monday Mornings are NOT Funny!!!!!
I tried creating a diptych but since I'm a dipsh*t it didn't work... even though Debbie was nice enough to explain it (and how easy it is... BAAHAHAHAH... nothing's ever easy!!!!!!! LOL).
Girlie's weekend was at my friend Christine's camp... they have a great sense of humor up there and bought these signs... of course I had to take shots... and each night we ended up on DRUNK Drive!!!!!
Hope you all have a fantastic day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you haven't already guessed, I'm putting my 365 on hold. I mean I'm going to start over eventually. Im so upset with myself for giving up but there is just way to much going on in my life and I don't even have the time to take a quick shot of myself. Just give me some time to get stuff straightened out and i'll be back. Maybe i'll turn this into a 52 weeks instead..who knows. Well....this is goodbye for now.
P.S. I start weekend classes at Pratt next sunday...Maybe that will get my heart back into photography
Because of my upper right arm fractured in three places I've had to resort to some archive material. Hope to get back to normal photography shortly.
Because I park my car right under a stand of five bigleaf maple trees, and because it's Fall and lots of leaves do fall, my car is usually covered with these large and colorful leaves. Believe it or else this is exactcly how this leaf landed!
Because of she's hanging on the tree in front of my house, she will spinning when it's windy I think:))
Yeah RAW catured and edited by Lightroom.
Good morning the world and my friends:)
Thank you to be happy weekend, when you're happy--anything will be done:)
Because the Gulf was not far away, we went out to the beach there several nights, hoping to see a great sunset. This one was nothing great, but it was the best one we saw, and it makes a good end to this series.

Kampong-Chhnang (Cambodia) - These fishermen were near the floating village. I pointed my arm in their direction to let the woman leading the canoe know that I wanted to get closer to them to take some pictures. I thought she didn't understand because she put the oars away! But she immediately started the engine and we drove off. when she arrived at the height of the fishermen, she turned several times around the fishing boat.
This sign was to have met its demise years ago because the cleaners was going out of business, which they did.....yet, it's still in its original perch on Highway 73. I saw it again in 2019 and it's aged a tad. Bridge City, Texas. 4.11.2014.
Because I'm not afraid to show my imperfections.
I'm not afraid to show my feelings.
I don't think I know how to.
I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight. It's been a rough evening and I'm scared for a lot of reasons right now.
This may be deleted very soon. I don't know if I like it yet and it doesn't fit what I'm feeling right now.
Because I am up country (anywhere east of the Tamar for the Cornish), I was able to dash down to the south coast for my best girlfriends 60th birthday. Cooked up as a surprise between me and her hubby, she had no idea I was coming. We had a fabulous lunch the The Ivy in Chichester.
I actually lived here during one stint as a junior doctor and it was odd to revisit it.
Boat Break!
Here's another rare non train photo here at Dave Blaze Rail Photography. I've shared a photo of this vessel before because I caught her on my first visit to the region in May and was fortunate to see her again on this October trip.
As I've mentioned this can kind of count as a 'rail photo' since this laker is actually a railroad owned asset....for now. The Philip R. Clarke is leaving Lake Superior and starting into the Duluth Entry as it passes the Duluth South Breakwater Outer Light at the tip of the south pier. This lighthouse was completed in August 1901 replacing the first which became operational in 1874. The fourth order Fresnel lens (made in France in 1877) from the original lighthouse was transferred to this tower and remained in operation until 2014 when it was replaced with an LED beacon and that lens was placed on display in the nearby Lake Superior Marine Museum. The lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
As for the Clarke, they are headed to CN Dock 6 to load iron ore pellets destined for Toledo. If the paint scheme of this vessel reminds you of a modern CN Gevo you wouldn't be wrong and that's why this counts (per my arbitrary rules) as a rail photo. The Clarke is owned by Great Lakes Fleet whose parent company is indeed the Canadian National which came to own the company in 2004 when it purchased Great Lakes Transportation Company from Transtar. Their primary motivation was to acquire the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway and Elgin Joliet and Eastern Railroad but ending up with the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad and the Great Lakes Fleet and associated docks as part of the package deal!
The Clarke is one of nine self unloading bulk carriers in the company's portfolio and is of the classic laker design with the superstructure and bridge on her bow. Launched in 1952 she is oil fired and steam driven and was 647 ft long when built but lengthened to 767 ft in 1974. To learn more I direct you to this links.
For info on the Great Lakes Fleet company here is a nice history and below that a downloadable PDF brochure from the CN.
www.lakesuperior.com/the-lake/maritime/383-great-lakes-fl...
www.cn.ca/-/media/Files/Our-Business/Brochure/CN-Great-La...
And here is a great history of this classic septuagenarian vessel:

As an aside, the CN put the company up for sale in 2022 so if they ultimately sell the vessels and docks I guess this won't qualify as a train photo anymore!

At Stevens Point WI. Sometime recently the B&LE 878 was turned and placed ahead of the 867. Sucks for the engineer because the B side yard ladder where the ground crew works and this set is currently assigned is on the opposite side of the engineers view.
I finished this fig before Black Panther, but posted after because I was more happy with how he turned out.
The hair piece is the scarlet witch hairpiece, and I cut off one side. I think this works better than the generic one Lego uses because the part looks better, and the overall style is just more accurate.
For the torso I sanded in the curves and layered it in etape for the straps and stuff.
The belts on the legs are also etape, with the buckles being cut up procreate.
The sword is 2 pieces of plastic glued onto a Katana hilt.
Let me know what you guys think!
Why mighty? Because, unlike the trees and Ents of Fangorn Forest, these cottonwoods can not move. When a dune migrates past them, they have no choice but to grow furiously upward, trying to keep their crowns above the encroaching sand.
Eventually the sand dune moves on and the tree re-emerges. The crowns are grotesque, a product of the attempt to get as many leaves as possible above the sand dune.
The crest of the dune has just migrated past this old tree. It did have green leaves at the top but I don't know if it survived the ordeal - I hope it did.
When you are walking around in the dune field and you see a "bush" that is growing on the crest of the dune, it might just be something much different.
The only place any of the plants can get water is at the base of the dunes where the dunes rest on the hard playa surface. Even the soap yuccas on the dunes have their roots down at the playa hard pan level.
