I chose to bead my photographs with those same colors that she has been beading my slippers (moccasins) with, since I was a baby. There is always a piece of her with me; her essence is always with me here in Toronto.

I would like to dedicate this book to Annie Norbert, a caring, humorous jijoo (grandma).

This is from Jill Oxton's Cross Stitch and Beading (issue 60). I met Jill and the rest of the gang at a craft show earlier this year and Gwendoline (Jill's daughter) suggested I try doing a shoe to learn brick stitch which I had admited to her I had yet to master. Here is my first shoe! Ta da! Just needs a coat of clear nail polish to finish it off.

February 2012 Bead and Button - with some changes ( of course) - I used cubes ( 2mm) instead of size 10 cylinder beads, 4mm bicones instead of the 3mm and made my own clasp based on the component rather than using the toggle as suggested.

My second completed polymer clay/beading project. I'm really enjoying this! The back is gray ultrasuede. The polymer clay cabochon is mostly pearl clay and copper leaf.

To answer a previous question:

This bead (and previous ones like it) is completely self-supporting. This is one of the 5+ layered icosahedral beads. It's a Rhombicosidodecahedron 'mimic', based on the outer layer's pattern.

40 beads for the base icosahedron, 180 (60 acrylic silver rounds, 60 pearls & 60 gunmetal) beads for the support & outer layer, at least 480 15/0 seed beads to embellish (if I added correctly).
